The Fairfield Inn and Suites was a very good hotel stay for me. They are located on the shores of the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky with a great view of the Cincinnati. We arrived after a long drive from Missouri. During the drive, I chatted with the property and asked for an upgrade to a riverview room overlooking Cincinnati. They upgraded me immediately as requested. When I arrived, the two front desk clerks were kind of awkward as both of them were looking down at their cellphones as we arrived. A few awkward seconds later, they acknowledged us and checked us in to our upgraded room. Our room was great! They gave us a nice room with a great view of the river. The room had the king bed that we reserved. It was a very good room for the few hours we would be in there sleeping. Surprisingly, they knew it was my birthday and gave me a very nice card. The gym and breakfast area was on the second floor. The gym had ellipticals, treadmills, and dumb bells. It was enough for me to get a good workout. Sanitizing wipes were also availalbe. The breakfast area was busy both during breakfast and during the night as they had a couple of busloads of people staying there as part of a tour. We were forewarned by the front desk to avoid the breakfast area at a certain time, but, I decided to show up anyways since I needed breakfast. It was a great experience intermingling with tour group. They had just visited the nearby creation museum and were headed to the Noah's Ark exhibit. I asked if I could sneak on the bus. They told me I could try, but, told me that I didn't have an afro and that I didn't have as much melanin as they did. The Fairfield was a great hotel for us. They upgraded us to a better room. It had everything that we wanted.

We picked this location initially with the guest count being are only criteria, but we were almost immediately surprised by so much more. The view, the gorgeous interiors, and the rich history were all things that finally led us to choose this as our venue for our wedding. But, above all else, was the venue owner - Roger Swonger. He went above and beyond to make our day as special as it possibly could be, and with his help, our wedding day went absolutely perfect. With just one planning session, and a couple of tours, Roger was able to guide us through the perfect day. He communicated well with all of the vendors, was able to provide an amazing wait staff, and bartender, and even thought of the small details - placing some flowers on our small wedding cake, putting a pen by the guest book, etc. Most importantly to us, as a now husband and husband duo, was finding a venue that was accepting. This was Roger to a tee - not only did he treat us with kindness, he guided us towards other LGBTQ+ friendly vendors as well. With his support and guidance, we had a wedding that completely surpassed our exceptions of what a wedding could ever look like in an area like Kentucky. I don't think there is any universe where we could have had a better wedding, and this is all thanks to Roger, and all thanks to having our wedding ceremony at Wiedemann Hill Mansion.

The mansion was decked out in full Christmas and there was ample parking. You get out of your car and the view just stops you it is so beautiful. The whole staff was so sweet during the whole wedding and I was impressed how pretty much everything came with the venue. The food from Vanderman's (SP?) was so incredibly tasty. Also loved that they had porch heaters and blankets so you could still enjoy the view and be warm. The place is perfect for a 60 person wedding and really not crowded at all.

The Backstage Event Center - Menu options were great for brunch and the add ons! The crab cakes were a crowd favorite.

I worked with Natalie after that and she went above and beyond. She was there for every question and concern I had. She was there on the day of my event and was so hands on and helpful, as well as the rest of the staff! From helping me with communication on road closures and traffic with Pride falling at the same time and day as my event, to setting up and breaking down, she was there. The Garden Room came with the patio and it was the perfect place to bring together my vision of a summer garden party. We had the perfect amount of food from their brunch options and add ons and it was delicious! We also still had the inside room to keep the food and utilize before we went outside for the brunch. Amazing time and super grateful to Natalie and her team!

I attended an after party for the Heart Mini here that was sponsored by my work. The space is open and inviting. I'm not sure what the capacity is but if definitely felt like if accommodated a decent number of people without cramping us together. The floor was perfect for dancing and the bars were easily accessible. The catering quality was good. We had three different types of sliders (pulled pork, ham and cheese, and veggie) all were good. They had an excellent selection of cheeses and the desserts were petite and fantastic (perfect size for trying a few). The Mac and Cheese was good but maybe a bit garlicky. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The service was friendly and efficient. This event center is definitely worth a look!

Our profound thankfulness and admiration held for the team's efforts are beyond words. From the inception of the wedding planning journey, The Monastery demonstrated exceptional thoroughness and clear communication with us as a couple and with all third-party vendors. They created a seamless and stress-free planning process, allowing us to savor the anticipation of our special day. Special thanks to Ali and Trevor for always being available to promptly address any inquiries. The culinary experience at The Monastery was an absolute standout, with countless guests praising the exquisite hors d'oeuvres, the tempting grazing table at the cocktail hour, the well-stocked and quick-moving bars, and, especially the dinner itself, which exceeded restaurant quality. I still dream of the aged cheddar mashed potatoes! The chef's ability to provide a one-of-a-kind food experience is truly unmatched, making The Monastery an unparalleled choice for hosting weddings. The service staff was exceptional, working tirelessly and offering warm smiles that made us, as the guests of honor, feel truly special. The natural beauty of the building itself is enchanting and enough of a reason to book with The Monastery, but it's the dedication and top-notch service from every member of the staff, both administrative and service, that elevates The Monastery to a league of its own in terms of wedding venues. From my perspective as the bride, everything unfolded flawlessly- but I am fully aware that there was a tremendous effort behind the scenes to ensure this smooth and seamless experience. Doug Betz, the owner, made a strong vow to my parents during our initial tour years ago - a commitment to treat our wedding with the same attention as he would his own children's weddings. It instilled trust and admiration for The Monastery from the inside out. I can genuinely affirm that Doug and the entire team not only upheld this promise but surpassed it. My husband and I are confident that any couple who chooses The Monastery is in for a once-in-a-lifetime, smooth, delicious, and thoughtful experience.
