Do not let the dark tinted windows lead you to think they are closed. The young gentleman, Nathaniel who helped us was eagar to help us and was very friendly. Worth noting, when it came time to pay that dreaded tip for counter service, the norm created after covid. To his credit, he immediatly stated when it came up on the screen, that is totally optional and at your discretion. The cafe is absolutely gorgeous. Much bigger in person and it has a little something for everyone. If heaven had a taste, it would be found at Fairhope Chocolate. How did I not know about this place? I was invited to a private event here, and I am so glad I accepted the invite. Let's start with the staff. Very knowledgeable about chocolates and wines (yeah, they serve wine, too). We learned about gelato, pastry doughs, types of chocolates, and wines. They were a wealth of information that made the tasting experience much more rich. Now, the gelato. Let me just tell you that you need to try them. There are flavors to fit everyone-from fruity and fun to bold and daring. My favorite was the burnt caramel & sea salt. It's definitely a must try. Now, the pastries. They have it covered from breakfast to dessert. The chocolate croissants are fluffy and buttery. Not too sweet, either. They have a chocolate and shortbread cookie that is to die for. The texture is a little crunch and a little chewy. They got it right. Finally, the chocolates. I had a dark chocolate truffle. Epic. Creamy, rich, and not too sweet. They had Belgian and American chocolates plus fudge. My favorite part was how the owner suggested the perfect wines to have with these decadent treats. Couple of cakes I bought were moist and have good flavor. couple of pastries tastes average, not worth the price I paid for. Service was good. My issue is the lack of transparency in terms of pricing. There were no prices displayed on any of the pastries, cookies, cakes they're selling. I had to ask the staff for price and she didn't know the price and had to check a list somewhere which took couple of minutes. I find this not only inefficient but falls under misleading and deceptive practice which should be reported to the appropriate agency. I wanted to buy more pastries but decided not to. Service is absolutely lack luster, there is none. The employees are better off working at the United Post Office versus here. After waiting almost 8 minutes to place my order on 03/29 around 5ish the two girls working were absolutely a charm, I'm being sarcastic when I say that. I attempted to order a drip coffee per the menu board. I was told they don't do it anymore, and that they only do Americano's only. Instead of charging me for the drip coffee they charged me the Americano price. This would've been fine had the coffee espresso not taste bitter and burnt. When I tried to let them know they told me it is what it is. So not only was the service awful, so was the overpriced coffee. I've had better coffee using a Keurig. I would honestly stay away from this overpriced chocolate shop. Yes I tried to fix it directly with the shop and basically was given the hand by the two female employees. Would I recommend this place, ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH IT!!! By the way don't let the cool vibe lure you in., unless you thrive for crappy service. read more

This is the cutest little chocolate shop in Bama and I happily spent way too many of my dollars here. While on vacation in Fairhope I visited once for myself and again for gifts for my friends back home. I choose lemon and orange bon bons and a turtle and so enjoyed them while walking around the French Quarter. Absolutely DECADENT. I soon got busy browsing the book store and lost track of time as I tend to do when surrounded by books so I didn't think of going back for gifts till I got back to my hotel. The very next morning I was back and loaded up on goodies for my loved ones. This is not your average chocolate. Neuhas is imported from Belgium and the goodies they make in house from scratch are heads above any candy you've ever tasted Keep in mind Fairhope Chocolate is not a bargain store but it is so worth it! This place is such a gem! It came highly recommended so it was one of our first stops in town. It is their Mardi Gras season right now and there are several fun Mardi Gras themed pastries. We decided to buy a king cake and let me tell you this cake is fabulous. We have tried other king cakes and they do not compare. The gelato we tasted was also fantastic. They make their own pralines and it might be the best one I've ever tasted. The young lady helping us was an absolute joy. I don't think we have ever felt so welcomed and greeted so warmly. It is so refreshing to experience this kind of customer service. Make it a point to go see the lady in the sparkle jacket and let her make your day! However, all the staff working were incredibly rude, no smiles, and one lady was even rude to my autistic son who was just excited to get some ice cream. She told my son to get his hands off the glass because he was excited and touching to show what he wanted, btw he is speech delayed so we rely on gestures and him showing us to things he wants. Saint Vache Y'all! We were strolling through Fairhope and decided to venture through the quaint little Fairhope French Quarter. It's a beautiful little "square" surrounded by buildings that you don't see from the street. That's how we happened upon The Frenchman's Corner of Fairhope. It's off the patio by the fountain. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a chocolate chef who was more than happy to explain to us what sets their chocolate apart from other chocolate. First, they are one of only three companies in the United States authorized to make and distribute Neuhaus Chocolate. The owner/chef had to travel to Europe to learn to make it at the Neuhaus company. It's rich and creamy Belgium chocolate, and it's devine. Every bite you take is like dying and going to chocolate heaven. It will totally spoil your taste buds! You will never want to eat a Hershey bar again. They have a few other chocolates too, which I'm sure are all exquisite. Some of the chocolates are imported, and many are made there in the shop. Neuhaus is the absolute best chocolate you'll ever taste. We bought two turtles that were out of this world, and made with local pecans grown in Fairhope. They were $7 for both. We also sampled a couple of pralines made there in the shop. The chef showed us a few candy apples they make and sell for $20. They give small group classes at the shop on how to make the apples. How much fun would that be for a little girl's birthday party or a big girl's night out?! Another thing that caught my attention was the Neuhaus Christmas Advent Calendars too. What a great gift idea! If you're in the area, I would definitely stop by and check this place out! If you're in the doghouse, it's worth driving at least 50 miles to get here. Seriously, remember this place on birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's Day, or any other special occasion, but that doesn't mean you can't just pop in on a Wednesday, just because. This is a Small-town chocolate shop with international (Belgian) chocolates. The company, Neuhaus, has been crafting decadent chocolates since 1857. This shop is part of the "French Quarter" in downtown Fairhope and is a little off the beaten path of Section St. "Off the beaten path" means that you walk off Section St. And through a sidewalked area that reminds one of New Orleans. This area is nicely landscaped with huge plants and a few water fountains. The flowing water welcomes you to continue to walk down the path toward the unknown. The smooth cobblestone walkway ends in a courtyard with a center fountain surrounded by eclectic shops and cafes. Finally, you are rewarded for your inquisitiveness. The chocolate shop is the last shop on the left. Once you enter the establishment, your senses are accosted with chocolaty goodness, but not the overt, gross, sugary smell. Scents of various ingredients inundate you as you attempt to chose a truffle. The choice is amazingly difficult and the workers are really helpful with descriptions and possible recommendations. We left with a few too many pieces, but their flavor was worth the cost. I will visit again and you should also. read more
