I don't usually visit this park, so this review is strictly about its potential for photography. We came here for photos, and honestly, I wasn't convinced this spot would deliver. It's not the kind of park I'd typically hang out at, but let me tell you--the pictures turned out amazing. The shots around the lake with the trees? S T U N N I N G. It's a great spot for all kinds of photos--family portraits, birthdays, couples, or even baby pictures. I'm genuinely surprised at how incredible the photos turned out, this park offers a solid backdrop for photos. If you're looking for a beautiful backdrop, this spot is this towns hidden gem. (Went in September for my birthday) What in the world? This park was not what I imagined it would be. It's large and a great location for community engagement; however, that also means a lot of random stuff happens here. There were several homeless people throughout the park. They weren't bothering anyone but I just wanted to put that out there in case that's important to someone. The pond was dirty and looked visibly different compared to older pictures I'd seen online. I feel duped and I wonder if I went on an off day? I actually went on my birthday so it was a good day. There was the typical ice cream truck. There were lots of bikers, a couple get togethers going on and music was loud. I'm not sure I would recommend this park. It seemed kinda sketchy and we left after taking a few pictures. read more

Every other weekend I see low riders which is always fascinating to see. Because I get to see the classical cars. The last time I came here with my grandmother. This park has a lot to offer! While busier than other parks in the area, I think it is less crowded than a comparable park in Los Angeles county. I believe the lake is man-made, and I didn't make it down to the Santa Ana River. However, the trees provide a great place to walk, and I think there may be some amount of social events. For example, it seemed like there was always someone taking photos in the Rose Garden (on a Saturday afternoon). Also, if you have children, then I believe there are multiple large playground areas. read more

One playground at this large park out of 2. We go to this park almost every weekend. There are homeless but I've never felt unsafe. I love this playground for my kid, 2 different areas, swings, stepping stones, and a music area. The only downside is there is usually trash everywhere. The park has volunteers daily to pick up the trash and there are a million trash cans. We love seeing the ducks in the lake. read more

It's big and serves the community well enough, I'll give it that. However, it's way overdue for another drain and dredge, the last time they did it was c. 2007-2008. That water is nasty and smells, especially after it rains, which is almost never lately. To its credit, the canals of Venice are greener and stinkier but that's not a compliment. Setting: the front area has picnic tables and hibachis, there are several playgrounds for kids, a seldom used bandstand, a boathouse for the rentable paddleboats and sailboats. The trees are beautiful around the larger lake section, and people fish all over. The rose garden is especially nice and well maintained, thus, it's a popular place for wedding shoots and Saturday quinceneras. It's not always open though. A trail leads out the back towards the Santa Ana River path network, and a sketchy patch of woods parallels this 'dogleg' connector. Towards evening I've seen homeless heading in to various areas of the park, including the woods. Additionally, there's an astonishingly large homeless population living in the river bottom, so it's common to see people on foot and bike cutting through the park. It is what it is. There is a small golf course and driving range, I haven't used either service so I cannot comment on anything. From time to time suspicious wildfires break out and charred trees can be seen. I do like riding my bike around the lakes and the birds are fun to watch too.. sometimes the sailboats head out around the man-made islands and a duck gets in front of the processesion. I guess I like it best in the early morning when there are only a handful of people. read more

Its a great place to just walk around and enjoy the scenery. You can also fish which is always fun.

As a landscape photographer, this is one my favorite lakes to photograph. You get gorgeous lake views while bird watching! This park gets PACKED on the weekends so if you can, I would try going on a weekday. I noticed the restrooms were closed on a weekday though. Enjoy my photos! read more

My review is mostly for the vegan depot. This park is beautiful and huge! It has a nice lake and golf course with a good playground as well. The lake was kind of dirty though because there was a lot of with and it also had a dead fish floating around. The park is overly crowded which forces some people to make their own parking and park at places where the sign says no parking anytime. The vegan depot event was held at this location luckily I was able to find parking at a decent spot. They had lots of good food to try out so I recommend my vegan and vegetarian friends to try the place out. I was able to try out an asada burrito with quesobirria and the burrito was pretty good the quesobirria could use some work. I also tried the macaroons which was very good and had yummy flavors. The chicken sandwich was okay it was better than Monty's. I also ordered the cheesy fries which was very yummy. The best food I tried was from srey vegan which was called nompang which is basically like a baguette sandwich Cambodian style! It had good flavors and I would def try out more of their menu items. read more

As a photographer, it's one of my go to locations. The scenery reminds me of Louisiana's bayou and there's a neat boat house as well. It is very pretty but I'd recommending cautious and mindful of some of the folks who live/hang out in the park. The rose garden is gorgeous when in bloom and is a great wedding location. read more

PROS: 1)Fairmount park in my opinion is one of the best parks in the area. It's a perfect spot to take wedding photos, prom pictures, sweet 16 pictures, and much more. Since the park is huge there are a lot of beautiful areas for pictures. 2)There are two playgrounds in the park and both are fun for children to play, have a birthday party, family gathering, or a picnic. 3) There are benches where you can sit and feed the ducks and just enjoy nature for a while. CONS: 1) I recommend going to the restroom at home before arriving at the park due to the fact that the restrooms at the park can get absolutely disgusting as the day progresses. 2) On the weekends parking can be a nightmare Overall it's a great park and a great chance to take pictures, let children disconnect from the internet, and be around nature. read more

Beautiful park. Our nephew had his wedding in the rose garden. It was perfect for a wedding. There is the sun issue on a hot day but with a 30 minute wedding, it's worth it. We had the reception in what I believe was called the Lakeside room. Beautiful venue. I'd recommend checking it out. read more

I love this park I often come here with friends or family to just take a nice stroll in nature. They're always seems to be events here sometimes there are car meets or birthday parties arranged here and I've noticed just about every Saturday in the mornings around 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. you can see Street vendors selling art sculptures or paintings nearby the Carousel Playground. Unfortunately the bathrooms do not have soap at this time and for this reason I have removed a star creating a four-star review. This park is great to do photography and take dates or host family gatherings. Keep in mind there's a lot of homeless that do live off the land in this area, they are pleasant and often keep to themselves. I appreciate the QR code with more information with more information of the planning and future development of the park. I always look forward to coming back to this park and it's great for photography anytime of the day. read more

I'm reviewing the golf course. On a November Monday morning, I was able to walk the course for under $10. The course is only 9 holes long, very walkable and in decent condition. We played it from the tips, which have been pushed back since the last time I played there. That was most significant from the par-3's, requiring me to pull out a driver on #2, and making the shallow green on #5 more difficult to hold with a longer iron. I may play from the whites next time. There are a few areas that require attention: The par-3 fifth hole, which used to have a water hazard, now has a pit filled with natural grasses (read: weeds). Many of the greens have these irritating bald patches that affect putting. Finally, the fairways could use some trimming: some patches are rough-height, often preventing a good drive from rolling out. COVID-19 information: Patrons were not allowed into the building. Business, including concessions, is conducted through the window in the back. You now need a code to access the restrooms. If it weren't so inexpensive to play there, I might have given this 2-3 stars. As it is, I'm happy to have a muni open in the IE, where so many of our courses have closed down. read more

The trees around the lake and willow-like and hang down very picturesque. :) The rose garden was locked up when I went, maybe due to COVID? A beautiful park that has a beautiful lake with many local wild life. It's really a old park with ancient trees. Lots of room to explore perfect for a walk to a family function. I consider this the best park in Riverside, hands down. Simply put, it is absolutely beautiful. It has a large body of water, lined with shady trees and a pleasant walking path. There are plenty of large trees scattered throughout the grassy areas too, which makes this park feel significantly cooler than the surrounding urban area. Complete with paddle boats for rent, a rose garden, and plenty of play structures for kids to enjoy, this park has it all! Now, because of it's size, it's likely challenging to maintain, so do expect some litter to be scattered around. At the edge of the water you can see some trash too, and there's plenty of goose poop to be avoided. The restrooms are also often dirty as you'd only expect from a public place. As it's such an overall lovely park with much to do, it's also quite crowded, especially on weekends and more so on holidays, and many groups will play their music or be getting down and you might find it a little noisy. Last but not least, many different people enjoy this park, therefore you will see the economically unfortunate and homeless population of Riverside resting, walking about, and using the public restrooms. If you are scared of humans that haven't had the same opportunities and upbringing as a wealthier individual, this is definitely not the park for you. It's a park for everyone. read more

One of my fav spots of all time, kept very clean and it's always busy and has a nice view.

This is easily one of the best parks I've ever been to. It's huge!! There are at least two playgrounds that I saw and a large lake where you can feed ducks and just sit and enjoy a moment of peace. I'm not sure if the vendors are there daily but there were a lot of vendors selling toys and little trinkets for the kids. There's even an area for lawn bowling (which I've never heard of but it sounds like fun lol). Apparently there used to be a carousel there but they've removed that and built a smaller playground where the carousel used to be for smaller children. My daughter reeeally enjoyed herself for the limited time we were there. I'll definitely be taking her back next time I'm in Riverside. read more

Every time we been to the park, we've enjoyed it. The parking can sometimes suck, but that's really the only negative thing I have to say about the park. I love the fact that I can take my dogs with us and go walking. The pond is nice, can't wait until they put the paddle boats out. It's pretty calm and you can take a blanket and just enjoy life. You got people selling balls and elotes on the weekends, you also might come across a car show, which we love. You got the occasional homeless that chills at parks, which is fine, they don't go bugging people. The playgrounds are clean and my daughter loves them. We will absolutely go back! read more

This is a pretty big park to take a walk but at your own caution. You'll encounter many different kinds of people here. It is flocked with people riding their bikes, fishing at the lake, walking, and homeless people. The park itself was well maintained when I visited (other than the homeless but they weren't bothering anyone so no complaints here). There is a rose garden but I was not able to enter because it was closed. I would definitely come back here again with my dog because it was nice to take a stroll along the lake. read more

The high rating is deceiving! This park is deff in the ghetto fabulous category in my book. It is supposed to be such a beautiful park with a lake, rose garden, wildlife, and tons of palm trees. But for some reason, it attracts all the ghetto residents in the area. The park is not well taken care of at all. I saw trash EVERYWHERE! The water in the lake is contaminated. I felt bad for the wildlife. How could ppl still go fishing in that water? That's beyond me! Towards the entrance, it is very chaotic and loud with questionable ppl BBQing and sleeping on the grass. I saw homeless and other ghetto fabulous types. Not judging, just saying! I can't image coming here at night. It would not be safe at all! It saddens me that such a beautiful park is ruined by ppl. I also regret sitting on one of the benches. Who knows what happened on those benches??! I'll stick to the parks in my neighborhood in Canyon Crest. Will never return to this park! read more
