You will barely find a piece of animal hair on the floor as well the lobby is much nicer than the other vet. When it comes to taking my animal to the vet, I will switch between the two. It depends on what I can afford at that time. I do trust both of these vets with my animals and that is the main part.

Nov. 26, 2021: A…read morefew hours after his very first dose (1/4 pill of mirtazapine for appetite, 1/4 pill of tapazole for hyperthyroidism) our cat, Milo, is vocalizing, has an abnormal gait (ataxia), is restless, trembles somewhat when he stands to eat/drink and is lethargic. He still uses the box well enough, but if no one is with him he'll fall in it. Thankfully though, he's still eating and drinking; albeit, not very much. If he doesn't get that shit out of his system soon, I fear a very extremely difficult decision will need to be made... one that we are not even remotely ready for. On top of everything else, the vet who gave our baby this toxic garbage didn't even give us the correct bag of fluids; he needs saline, we requested saline, but she gave us plasma lyte--AND NO HOSE!!! Due to this horrible experience, it will be a very long time from now before we feel confident enough to give another cent to another vet for anything other than euthanization! When I called the vet back she tried to claim the change in him was the result of advanced CKD before calling it a coincidence, blaming it on his CKD, as well as his age. Very quickly after she suggested he spend the weekend at the vet for a "rapid flush". THE WEEKEND?? AWAY FROM HIS FAMILY?? WHY, SO THEY COULD KILL HIM AND CLAIM HIS CKD WAS THE CAUSE??? Or did she suggest it because she KNOWS just how badly she fk'd up??? When I explained that other than for his dehydration, HE WAS 100% FINE, she immediately went silent! After poisoning our baby, we will never fully trust another vet for as long as we have left on this planet! Mirtazapine risks:: The most common adverse effects reported to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center in 84 cats intentionally or accidentally exposed to oral mirtazapine included vocalization, agitation, vomiting, abnormal gait/ataxia, restlessness, tremors/trembling, hypersalivation, tachypnea, tachycardia, and lethargy. Tapazole risks:: Methimazole's (as it's otherwise known) risks include vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, blood clotting, and blood cell abnormalities. It should not be used in pets that are allergic to it, or those allergic to carbimazole or polyethylene glycol. Cats with autoimmune disease, liver disease, *****kidney disease*****, or blood and clotting diseases should not use this medication, or it should be used with extreme caution and significant monitoring. UM, FKN, WHAT??? NICE DOCTORING! NOT A SINGLE SIDE POSSIBLE EFFECT WAS EXPLAINED TO US NOR WAS IT ADVISED THAT WE MONITOR HIM WITH EXTREME CAUTION! Additionally, at the very first appointment we had with M. Jahncke she mentioned euthanasia may be necessary and that was even before she examined Milo; who at the time was still very active! When we called her today she mentioned euthanasia THREE FKN TIMES IN A SPAN OF FIVE GODDAMN MINUTES! WTF??! On top of all that, Jahncke said, "He should be checked for hyperthyroidism." This YT vet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3qeRtfeckU) very clearly states that hyperthyroidism and renal failure go hand in hand. So, Jahncke charged us $120 extra for something she most definitely already knew Milo had just so she could tack on even more money for poison pills, she most certainly knew the negative effects of; after all she holds the fancy vet degree... Zero stars! Would not recommend! Nov. 27, 2021: Update: Our cat is no longer with us; he was euthanized today. He became immobile the day after we originally Yelped about Bedford Parks. Side effects of the aforementioned drugs:: He could no longer lift his head; his nose was practically dragging on the floor. He was yowling, sliding all over the floor, trembling when he tried to walk, and could not even look at the people who love him unless he was being cradled in our arms or laying on his side; which was the most comfortable position for him to be in after all the shit drugs destroyed him. During one of our snuggle times, I lifted his head to look at his eyes, which is when I noticed his head/neck felt very heavy and rigid. WTF DID THOSE FUCKING DRUGS DO TO OUR BABY?!? To all those who have a beloved furbaby, please NEVER take them to the greedy, heartless, incompetent staff at Bedford Parks (North End Animal Hospital, East Hants Animal Hospital, or Eastern Passage Village Vet Hospital) as I can't imagine Jahncke or anyone who works with Jahncke are any better; morally. And please NEVER give them the drugs I've listed above. I've spoken to several dozen people in a CKD-specific pet group; many of them have had similar/identical issues happen to their precious babies as what has happened to our beloved treasure, Milo.

I had been bringing my cat to Vetcetera in Bedford since 2018 without any issues. Our cat received…read moreyearly check-ups, and I trusted the clinic. That trust completely eroded this year when I brought our new cat in and was told she needed dental surgery. I booked the surgery for the following month and later had to reschedule due to personal reasons. At no point was I informed that the original quote I received for the procedure would no longer be valid. On the day of the surgery, I was taken into a room where the procedure was explained. However, at no point was I told there was a price change. I was asked to sign some paperwork, and the staff member simply said, "Sign here." I assumed it was consent for the procedure. I take responsibility for not reading the papers, but it should have been clearly explained what the form was and that it included an updated cost. When I went to pick up my cat, I was charged a different amount than what I had been originally quoted. When I questioned it, the receptionist left and came back saying, "Your quote was actually higher than this, so you're paying less." I knew that wasn't correct. I found the original quote in my email on ,my phone and showed it to the receptionist, who then made excuses. First, she said I had signed the intake form and knew there was a price increase. Then, she claimed my original quote was old and then she blamed the price change on the fact there was new owners. I left the clinic feeling extremely upset and wrote an email once I got home explaining my concerns. The manager responded, offering a refund of the difference if I came back in. However, the manager's email included a forwarded message from the receptionist (I believe her name is Kelly), which once again shows she is very dismissive about my concerns. Seeing this forwarded message only added to my frustration. This receptionist was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in customer service skills. She gaslighted me, trying to make it seem like the price increase was somehow my fault. Worse, there was no apology from her for how I was treated. The manager apologized but I wouldn't be dealing with the manager when I come in, it would be the receptionist and she clearly thinks she did nothing wrong and that somehow she can be dismissive to customers concerns. So instead of an apology, when I mentioned to the receptionist that I wouldn't be coming back, she asked if I wanted to transfer my file to another clinic. Another thing to note, the clinic didn't even follow up with a courtesy call the next day to check on how my cat was doing after the surgery. That level of carelessness made it clear to me that this clinic is more focused on money than on genuinely caring for animals and their owners. I have moved my cats to another clinic where I hope to receive the respect and service that every pet owner deserves. Vetcetera needs to seriously reconsider how they train their staff, especially receptionists like Kelly. I will not spend another dollar at a business that has a receptionist who treats its customers this way. They just lost 3 patients, and to be honest I don't think they even care. I am sick and tired of the lack of customer service in businesses today.

My service dog and I faced awful treatment at this clinic…read more Called the clinic before departure so they knew I'd be driving thru delays. No problem, they said. I pull in to the parking lot on time. Then, because I am disabled, took a few minutes to attend to myself before going in. Everyone working there immediately tried to turn us away for being "10 minutes late" even though we weren't, and we'd called ahead. They never told us anything about late penalties. They ended up letting us see a vet who called my service dog "he" the entire time even tho she's obviously a female dog. The patient room was terrifying - it had a scary unmarked door at the back with a peephole pointed at me, leading to some kind of backroom. Creepy. The vet palpated my service dog once, then TOOK MY SERVICE DOG AWAY FROM ME into that backroom, claiming she would get a temperature. She shut the scary, automatically locking door behind her and kept my service dog in that backroom for 15 minutes! You *NEVER* *EVER* separate a service dog from its disabled owner. I sat alone in the patient room, feeling unsafe and didn't know what to do. I never consented to having my service dog taken out of the room. Does it take 15 minutes to get a temperature? Couldn't they take the temperature in front of me, right there in the patient room where patient examinations happen? Did they hurt my service dog?? How will this interfere with her training??? In Halifax there are 2 (1/2) vet clinics that handle exotics. Fairview Animal Hospital, and the Sackville Animal Hospital. Poor Nixie tried to lay eggs one day and well things did not go well. We needed to take her to a vet and right away! Naturally this happened on a Friday night around 11pm, and I had been previously told that the emergency vet clinic did not handle reptiles (this was misinformation), so we waited until the morning and frantically called first thing. We were able to get in to see Dr. Benjamin the exotic specialist within an Hour. Although things didn't work out for Nixie all of the staff were extremely warm and welcoming. We walked in with our tupperware container and the second they saw us they said "Oh that must be Phoenix", and you could tell they all genuinely cared about us, our lizard, and wanted to do everything in their power to help. Some of the interns who were working there stayed with her the entire time she was there, trying to make sure she ate, that her distention was properly cared for and that she was warm and as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately Dr. Benjamin was not going to be in on Sunday and Nixie needed continued care so they did all the necessary paperwork, faxed it and called ahead to the emergency Vet Clinic, so that we could transfer Nixie there (which also saved us some money as they did not have to do a full exam and assess her injury or develop a treatment plan). About a week later we received a card in the mail signed by all the staff thanking us for choosing the Sackville Animal Hospital, and then about a week after we had called them to tell them that Nixie had passed away, we received a sympathy card from them with personalized notes from all the staff. Not just signatures but real notes. I have taken many pets to many vets and have NEVER felt like the vet clinic cared so much about the animals and owners. I would very highly recommend the Sackville Animal Hospital, and will continue to make the 45 minute drive to have my dragons cared for, rather than go to the closer exotic vet because the staff are so fantastic!

However; Dr. Redgrave makes up for it, as he is not only knowledgeable and timely, he saved my dogs life, as 6 months ago, we were not sure how the out come turn out. Everything he told me was clear evidence of competence with his advise towards wellness, as she was 12 years then, and had a mass tumour removed from her nose. He not only removed it. He was knowledgeable enough to explain to me how it may or may not unfold. As it's now June of 2021, during a pandemic of unruly predictions of our future, never mind a dogs future in these hectic times. She so far has not only survived the surgery, she will be 13 years this Oct. Shes still loves her walks, and enjoys every morsel of her new lean protein diet, and enjoying life more then ever. As she has a few respiratory issues before the tumour, and with Dr. Redgrave's advise was bang on throughout prior surgery, and after. We take each day like it could possibly be her last, with love, exercise, good diet, and hope she will be with us for more lasting tomorrow's. As for time now has given us 6 more months with my baby, and I appreciate Dr. Redgrave, and all Weste Animal Hospital has done for her, and us! Be patient with this busy Animal Hospital located in Lawrencetown. As they maybe busy for a reason. Thank-you, to all of you, and a very special thank-you to Dr. Redgrave!
