Came here on a Sunday for a morning hike. There's a bunch of different paths that seem like it'll lead to multiple trails. It's dirt paved and easy to follow. Since it's summer time, there isn't too much flowers or anything. Mostly dry vegetation. Theres a ton of bike trails and running trails as well. Some paths will lead to grassy areas with picnic tables. Plenty of parking as well. read more

I've only been here for the summer concert series so parking could be challenging. I usually just park at the high school nearby and walk over. Less stressful. This is a fairly large and nice park. Have a decent chunk of amenities and it was pretty empty on a Saturday. Looked to have some trails and tons of walkable areas. Liked that was very clean and looked safe. Amenities that I saw - baseball field, basketball courts, and tennis courts. This is such a beautiful park we have been coming here for many years. Just to have lunch or feel the breeze of the wind and to take a nice beautiful walk! I love this park they don't have a play area but there is a beautiful field of yellow flowers and a nice path you can walk if you're feeling up to that, you can bring your dogs too which is amazing I used to bring my dog Holly here all the time. Perfect park to visit and very peaceful and you get the beach breeze which is wonderful. I also saw my friend Adriana from yelp wrote a review here as well! Fairview Park is Costa Mesa's largest park spanning 195 acres. It also has another 13 acres of natural landscape and trails. The park is located next to Estancia High School. Of course, the park is huge and there is lots of parking. There are plenty of grassy areas for soccer and picnics. They have restrooms but weren't the cleanest. The dirt paths are trails for walking, running, and biking. It's a great place for a lunch picnic or a long walk or morning hike. read more

This park is a hidden gem in OC. Parking is free with a sizable parking lot. From the parking lot, you can take an assortment of trails throughout the park (see map photo). There is a cool bridge that connects you to the east side trails. On the north side, there are stair cases that take you down to the west side which eventually connects Fairview Park with Talbert Regional Park. From here, you can take the Talbert trails south. Not much shade throughout, but pretty quiet and not too crowded since I don't think this place is very well known. There is some grass area surrounding the parking lot where I saw bathrooms and some picnic tables. Very dog friendly and a good amount of bikers. The trails are mostly flat but still very enjoyable and scenic. read more

Very cool park that I had no idea existed. Clean restrooms and covered benches. There are lots of trails going all different ways. One of them leads to the Santa Ana River Trail, which is only 3 miles from the ocean. Some of the other trails are dirt and hilly; that's where you'll see some remote control cars racing, flipping, crashing and getting some serious air! The park extends to both sides of Placentia Ave with a bridge that you can take to get to the side with the mini train ride. It's not a big area, but it has a lot to offer. read more

Escape into nature right next to the City. Fairview Park has more than 200 acres, most of it wild. Some of it is manicured and there are walking paths and a small lake area. It is all just beautiful. Picnics there are great and if you want to fly a kite you can. It is great for families. They do events now and again, I have not been to one so I have no opinion. I just love the park. It is clean and well maintained. There are birds everywhere and little ground animals to keep you entertained. Bathrooms are nearby. In the heat of summer, take some water with you, although the chance of you getting lost are slim. It is only open until 5 pm so get there early and have a great walk. I have never seen a dog there so I don't know if they are allowed. We have been twice and will be back when we are in town. read more

I always enjoy a great hike with views. This is a place that checks both boxes. It's three miles from the beach and there are a variety of trails you can leverage. The trails are not as steep but provide a great workout for you or your kids or four legged babies. You are able to have a run, jog, or a great bike ride at this location. One of my favorite parks to watch a sunset from with my pup. This park is positioned right on top of a hill so you can see almost out to the ocean as you watch the sunset. I really love that this park is free (not at all parks are free), had an ample amount of parking spaces, and that this park is dog friendly. It seemed like a lot of families come here to play and have picnics, while lots of dog owners bring their 4 legged best friend(s) with them to walk around the hilly, dirt trail, or even the grass area since this park is so big. All dogs have to be on leashes and dog parents have to be responsible and pick up after their pooch. There is also a very large bathroom building with water fountains to keep people and their pooches well hydrated. This park isn't necessarily in my area, but it was most definitely worth the drive to enjoy this sunset with my pup - the perfect way to relax after a long day. read more

When you first start walking on the trail once parked, it seems like just a lot of dry brush but if you keep walking down the path, it leads you to a staircase where you will be led down to another park! Talbert park I believe. Once you go down the stairs, there's so many different paths to take. The only thing that was sketch was seeing some young boys riding very fast through a trail with pedestrians on their electric bikes. Other than that, the park is lovely and peaceful. The park here is so nice! They have plenty of parking - I've never had trouble finding a spot. They have lots of dogs here, either on the grass or on the hiking trail. The "hiking" trail isn't really much of a hike as it is a dirt path trail. There was some incline but it wasn't even a mile long (unless you loop it). read more

We have been seeing OCMA - the Orange County Model Engineers all over Instagram and had planned to bring the kids by for 3rd weekend of the month Free Rides. This afternoon was the perfect opportunity as it was a breezy afternoon with perfect sunlight, 80* or so. You can find Fairview Park either off 22nd and 55 or Fairview and the 405. The model trains are seriously so cool! And they must be packed with HP to cart nearly 2k+ LBS around the park, even on the bridge too! The whole ride takes maybe 10-15 minutes, and we waited a total of about 15 minutes too. It was an incredible experience, we made sure to donate some bucks and we'll be back again very soon!! Last ride is 3:30pm! We also look forward to hiking some of the walkable trails next time we make it out to Fairview Park as well!! Great Times 5 stars!! read more

Has a little of everything, when 1st enter you see a beautiful simple park and when you walk just a little further you see a mini bmx bike section, but the real beauty is when you go just a little further into the hiking trails, there's a lot more than you'd think, both high and ground views are great, they have multiple trails both paved and natural nature, very clean even the public restrooms are clean just wish it had a sink to wash, perfect for hiking, cycling, and dog friendly. Well, the people have spoken, and it looks like we want to have our say on what, if any, development projects may be planned for Fairview Park. Hopefully it was the right call. I certainly love Fairview Park the way it is. My wife and I often come here to check out sunsets, and there probably isn't a better place in Costa Mesa to do that. There is a bluff near the parking lot that gives you a great view of the western sky. Fairview Park has nature trails, dirt bike trails, an area for flying model aircraft, a picnic area, and even a model railroad. Free concerts are held here in the summer. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna (if you're lucky, you may see a coyote). If all this isn't enough, it's adjacent to Talbert Nature Preserve and the Santa Ana River Trail. I live close by, so I may be a little biased, but I think that Fairview Park is one of the best things about Costa Mesa. The park closes at sunset, but this doesn't seem to be enforced very strictly. I actually went here to go Pokémon Hunting, by the park itself was super beautiful, I will be definitely coming back to take more pictures hopefully during sunset hours. The park itself can be considered half a trail and there is a trail that leads to a hike down the hill. You can see lots of bikers, joggers, and people taking a leak surely stroll. There's also a park portion that's super clean where it seemed perfect to spend time with family and friends for a BBQ. When you go onto the trails, the atmosphere when you stop and look around is similar to when you sit on the train and look into the wilderness, a deserted, lonely, but feeling of respect for how beautiful the world is. A very cool park in the costa mesa near santa ana region. Who would've thought that something this "natural" was here. The only reason we knew about this park was biking it past it on the Santa Ana River. And what i mean by "natural" is there are ton's of natural shrubbery but they also have man-made ponds that help to help in aiding cleaning our water supply. There are 4-6 ponds that naturally cleans water as you go; water that is pumped from a dam and some from Santa Ana river. Although it looks bone dry to me as we're biking along the river. Anyway, this park has ample amount for several types of activities, from aerial plane toys, to horse trails, to huge running trails, to biking, for BMXer's, to picnicking in a VERY nice shady area, to lounge around w your dogs. This park is pretty popular since there was a lot of people early Friday morning. What's also cool is the SantaAna river leads straight into this park and so easily accessible. A very quiet and nice park to do many activities or doing nothing at all. It also lead straight into Talbert Regional Park. Another thing to add is that the upper part contains a lot of drier shrubbery however if you go down and into the Talbert park there is a very nice shady area. read more

Nice park. Has some trails but when I went a couple of weeks ago half the trails were closed so I wasn't able to check out the paths. We walked where we could but it wasn't much. We crossed the bridge a couple times and took pictures. We saw lots of animals and the parking is free. Also this is totally random but there are a lot of fire ants on the concrete path so watch where you step. read more

Never reviewed a park before but there is a first time for everything. Went here originally on 6/2/17 to check out the fish fry event but soon found myself drawn to this beautiful place. I walked through the park initially to get to the event and was thinking to myself, "damn this is a cool park, so much space and my trails from what I can see." I also noticed some young chaps sitting on a cliff side just staring off into the distance (later realized they were in a slightly "restricted" area, more on that later). But once I left the event and walked up a little hill I came across what seemed to be mounds for BMX riding (my suspicions were confirmed when I saw all of the bike tracks going every which a way), pretty cool. Then I noticed many trails, paved and unpaved. There were runners, walkers and lovely canines all about and another thought struck me "this place is pretty damn clean for a park." Walked by the area where they fly model planes and was told by a kind fellow with a beautiful husky, that the model planes are always out and about flying. He said some have big picnic table size planes that are flying around and that some are really fast. They even have a couple drones here and there. That's pretty cool, I'll have to come back and check them out. Last stop I made was by the chaps on the cliff side. This area seems to be blocked off by a wire fencing type of deal but the top wire was missing so I did the human thing and stepped over the bottom wire and proceeded on. Once I got to the side I noticed this bluff has a steep drop off and wouldn't want to slip for any reason so I played it safely as I took in the moment and then snapped a few pictures. But I also wondered about the houses on the edge. I'm no architect or anything, I am just genuinely curious as to how that works. Anywho, nice view. Very peaceful. Overall, I'd definitely be back because I barely scratched the surface. I believe there are many picnic areas and so forth and tons of other paved trails you can get lost in. Good place to walk, bike, and run. The restrooms could always be cleaner but when the weather is right it's a nice place to get your steps in. There's also an area with several tables when you go down the stairs and it's a nice spot for a picnic :) just watch for fire ants on the trails and occasional holes in the grass read more

First time going this weekend with my kids and husband and our dog, we loved it. The atmosphere is beautiful the sunset was amazing and the little trails are lovely. I loved watching people flying their planes are just racing there lil Race cars in the dirt. The mini hike was excellent since it's been awhile. So we have come to a conclusion that this is our weekend family park to just enjoy a beautiful day out.
