After about 10 a.m, it gets pretty hot, so don't forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and if possible, wear a lightweight long-sleeve shirt for sun protection. There was one staff member at the launch area, and when we were trying to get into the water, no one helped us push the kayak. What made it worse was that one staff member inside the shop pointed at us and laughed, and the staff by the shore joined in. It felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. Showed up on the day to rent bikes and they allowed us to try a few before deciding. The bikes could be in better condition, most of the fleet were showing significant wear. One of our e-bikes had low battery charge and even though someone was able to bike out to where we were to delivery another battery, the replacement was also low and wouldn't be enough for the time we rented. We also lost time waiting for the other battery. However, kudos to the staff and owner because they made it right for us when we returned the bikes. Spot has good staff and a great location. Refreshing the bikes with newer models would bump it to 5 stars.

There was no line to order but there were 5 or 6 unhappy people waiting for their food. 25 minutes later we got our food while we watched a girl texting on her phone while food sat under the heat lamps. I asked the girl for an extra strips sauce and some BBQ sauce for my kids chicken fingers. The girl brought me a cup of salsa, like she filled up a Coca-Cola cup to the rim with the dipping sauce and then said they were out of barbecue sauce and all they had left was one side of ranch. Me and another customer looked at each other and then started talking about how bad the service. That other customer told me that Jack's lost their lease and that this was the last summer that this place was going to be here. I asked the employee about it and she confirmed it. It's kinda like this place it's just going downhill because why offer good service when the restaurants is closing in a few weeks. The whole situation was very sad because I remember old man Dwight, his son Jack who is now I think 90 years old is someone I've known since I was literally like five years old and then watching his son and his grandson run this particular store and now watching it fall apart again makes me kind of sad . What a mess !

But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

Too hard to find open swim time, too hard to properly staff lifeguards, too hard to get funding to finish the pool remodel, too hard fathoming the loss of all that money updating a clubhouse that was in better shape than the pool. Too hard justifying $85 per month, year 'round, and soon to increase...again. We'll miss the tennis courts...easily the best part and most under used part of the club. Epic Friday night family parties with the kids safely swimming (with a lifeguard) while the folks get hammered. Campfire smores, good friends and a wonderful staff. See ya.......................

Decided to surprise my wife with a relaxing duffy boat ride for our wedding anniversary with some friends. Went straight to Yelp to do my research (thanks Yelp!). Originally, I was going to book with a rental company for Newport Harbor, but then came across a Groupon for PCH Electric Boats. After checking out their website and reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, I immediately booked. I called to book a white duffy boat on the day before Thanksgiving. The person on the phone was friendly, courteous and really easy-going. They asked if I had a Groupon and if I could provide the voucher number. BOOM. done. all set! I received an email with VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS (including photos) of where to park and where the meeting area was. Additionally, a link to the waiver form that every passenger is required to fill out (even your babies) was included in that email. On the day of our booking, we were met by the owner Grant who I'm pretty sure was the same friendly, courteous and easy-going person I talked to on the phone days earlier when I booked. He provided specific instructions on where we're allowed to go and what to avoid. He saw we had several small children in our party and recommended everyone use the restroom nearby before boarding since there is not place to stop out in the harbor. After we came back from our potty break, Grant lead us down to the dock and got all the kiddos fitted for their life vests (all in great condition btw). He assisted us with our bags so we could focus on boarding the kids safely and even took a group photo for us! The boat was clean and easy to drive. The sound system was bumping and all the windows easily lifted up for that nice harbor breeze. It was a beautiful and memorable day. On our return, Grant was at the dock with one of his employees ready to receive us. He guided us in smoothly and as we were gathering our belongings and cleaning up, he helped all the kids out and grabbed our bags. We handed Grant a tip and immediately he passed it over to his employee who was going to do the post-ride cleaning.. what a great boss!!!! Definitely will be booking with PCH Electric Boats again! Thanks Grant!!!!

He has been doing food on board for 20+ years and the food was PHENOMENAL. Guests devoured the food and everything was absolutely delicious. Boat has 3 levels and was able to fit the party nicely. I asked if an hour is enough time and the reply was basically stating it depends on the group so I didn't get a good response, then I asked if we can dock at other areas and explore because I was considering a 2 hr rental, the response was "absolutely". When we arrived it was a totally different response and they didn't advise us to dock elsewhere and they would not grant us a 1 hr instead since the only option was to circle the harbor TWICE and take our time. They are adamant about being on time only to get there extra early, speak to the staff and return at our scheduled time and find we didn't have a boat ready. They asked me to wait for a group to return but changed their mind and gave us a boat on site. I over heard one of the staff stating a customers boat died so I asked them to verify ours were good to go and won't die on us. We headed out only to die out 15-20 min after, we couldn't get ahold of anyone and kept getting voice mail. I tried texting and it a reply to call the office. I noticed a small sticker on the boat with a number, called that and spoke to staff, explained the situation and was told they would rescue us. We spent 15-20 min trolling, waited 25-30 min to get rescued and they tried to put us on another boat which I refused. They considered that an hour (i considered that 20 min) so I asked to end the rental. They originally didn't want to do it but I refused to do it again as we all lost interest at this point. They ended up refunding me $65 lol. I was so done I just took it and wanted to go about our day. Apparently they do a rescues on a regular so beware. After all of that I found the boat we were rented was the oldest and first boat they got and been having issues with it...go figure! I gave 2 stars because 2 members were cool. Pics verifying I was informed we could dock and another while we were stuck

Jim gave us a quick review on how to use the boat along with a quick run thru of a immaculately clean boat with all the sanitation needs during this time of Covid. We had a nice cruise on a crisp December evening. The water was like glass, no one was on the water, and we enjoyed a perfect evening. Jim was persistent on taking the boat later to see the lights. I was adamant on not wanting to be cold. Well I wasn't cold because they have the Duffy boat covered so it's comfortable. Now we are kind of regretting not seeing the lights. I rented a Duffy Boat for 2 hours on my 17th wedding anniversary on 3/20/16 after trying to rent at another place. James came to the rescue and was easy to deal with and beyond informative with his instructions on the Duffy boat operation. Even though I've rented plenty of boats in the past James gave me helpful tips to ensure our safety. The boat was clean and had an awesome sound system so we could hear the tunes we wanted to during our cruise. James also gave us a bottle of champagne to enjoy during our cruise!! This is our go to place from now on!! Thank you so much James!!
