So, I had (note the past tense) two broad problems with golf. These are by no means specific to…read moreStone Meadow: 1. Golf is freaking expensive. 2. I tried golf as a teenager, and couldn't get the hand-eye coordination down. Don't kid yourselves, I still can't. I was designed to sit in front of an Excel spreadsheet, not stand in front of a golf tee. Stone Meadow Golf has completely turned everything on its head. Don't get me wrong, my hand eye coordination is still as real as the Loch Ness Monster, however the lack thereof is no longer as scary. Stone Meadow has a driving range and a 9-hole course. Both are priced very reasonably, and (at least for the 9-hole), equipment like a wedge, putter, and two balls. The course was very approachable and non-intimidating for a newbie like myself. The staff were also helpful and friendly. So, while I don't see myself becoming a person who holds for fun on his own, including owning one's own clubs, when my friends have an open invite for Stone Meadow, I will absolutely join them if I'm in town).

The good: there's a driving range, a putting green, and a sand trap to practice in. The driving…read morerange is affordable ($5 for 30 balls and $8 for 60); the mats are in good shape; and you get plenty of yard markers to gauge your distance and accuracy. The putting green is well maintained and presents an array of challenges, with many uneven surfaces and plenty of holes. There's also plenty of parking and the staff is friendly and helpful. The bad: many of the balls at the range (it seemed like half) are in bad shape. They're old, faded, and many are even warped in shape. There is not a separate chipping green, only the sand trap. All in all a fun place to hang out and work on your game.

The fairways are beautiful and the greens run true. It is pretty much walkable except for an uphill climb to the 8th tee. The staff is friendly and they do a great job. There's a nice grill there too for the 19th hole. There is a nice putting but no driving range, which is the only shortcoming. Would highly recommend.
