From the very first contact we had nothing but amazing interaction with Donna ( the owner) and her team. We were planning a 12 day vacation out of the country and needed someone to check on our cats every other day while we were gone. I was pleasantly surprised when I called and got a real person on the first call; Donna and I spoke about our pets our specific needs and when we were going away and set up a meeting with Donna, my husband and myself. She arrived at the meeting on time and well prepared with all of their information and appropriate forms to gather ours. We booked services and as the date approached and we called to confirm everything was in order. Near the end of our vacation my mother-in-law passed away making it necessary for us to reroute our trip and extend our time away by five days and then we had t drive back to St Petersburg because of the impending hurricane. Not once did they blink about extending services and assured us that if we were further delayed they would take care of everything. Upon our return our cats were happy and well cared for, our mail and newspapers had been brought in and our house was all in order. I used Fairy Dust Services to watch my two cats on several different occasions. One of my trips was 11 days long and I felt very comfortable knowing that my babies were being well cared for. I like that Donna employs pet sitters (the one who watched my cats has been with her for quite some time) and they report to her after every visit. Donna then sends an update with photos. I was out of service range and unable to receive text messages during part of my trip and Donna sent updates to my neighbor. I came back home each time to two happy kitties! read more

Let me start by saying that I chose not to engage this service after the initial interview phone call, but I felt it necessary to share the experience because it was so bizarre. It started with me leaving a voicemail to enlist overnight pet sitting services. The owner called me back within the hour (which I thought was quite favorable and responsive). When we spoke, she explained their menu of services. I inquired about pricing for the service that I thought would best suit our furry fam, and she quoted me $84/day, which seemed a little on the high side, but would be acceptable if the service was great. This is where things turned strange... I told her the next step for us would be to interview the person who would be staying at our home with our pets, and we would make our decision as to engaging their services based on the interview. She responded that she would be the one meeting us, doing paperwork, etc, and that she would assign someone after meeting us, and that if we wanted to meet the person who would be staying at our home, it would be a chargeable service. Sooooo....basically, she wanted us to accept a stranger into our home to stay with our pets OVERNIGHT without ever having met them prior. When I told her I would discuss with my wife, but that I didn't think this approach would work for us, she got a little surly and started talking loudly over me and interrupting me. I called her on it and asked her to let me clarify so that we may work out the differences, and she continued to interrupt and talk over me. I told her that I thought she was being rude, and that I was going to disconnect. She had to continue talking and telling me how she was not a rude person. I said, "This call needs to end. I'm going to hang up." To which she started actually shouting...*click* Again, I chose not to enlist the services because I would never leave my pets and my house in the hands of someone I have not met, but I just couldn't leave this conversation undocumented. Too bizarre...and those who care about their pets should be wary of a policy like this. read more

Since moving to St Petersburg, I've had a tough time finding a dog sitter that I felt comfortable leaving my two senior german shepherds with. Donna came to our house for a personal consolation and then again with the sitter she matched to our dogs (and he's a PERFECT) match! I finally feel like I'm not stuck here because of the dogs. Despite very rigid policies including, first, an opportunity to meet the owner but not the actual cat sitter and second, required advance payment for the contracted period, the services were provided perfectly. We received emailed updates and pictures. The cats apparently loved the sitter (owner too) who followed our instructions about feeding quantities, litter box management, and litter disposal. Fairy Dust is aptly named because it is indeed a service where magic happens. I have used this service many times, both on a short term and long term basis. Twice we had to leave our large and finicky cat home when we went to Connecticut for the summer. This company has always been responsible and reliable, and attuned to our pet's needs (and our needs as well). It was a relief to know that our cat was in such capable hands. Have been using their services for almost two years -- since we adopted our then 6 year old shelter cats. In addition to cat sitting we also use them for housecleaning and for house sitting when we are away for an extended period of time. We have been really happy with all the services. We've used FairyDust for about 6 years. Donna the owner is very professional and has always provided us with a great in-home pet sitter for our two labs. One of our dogs is super high energy and very skittish, but that doesn't even phase her sitters. We like that she has a team of people that she can select from, and they keep her updated on what's going on with our dogs while we're away. If one of her sitters gets sick or their car gets a flat tire, she always has someone else to fill in. She keeps in touch with us with texts and pictures and emails, so we always know our dogs are being taken care of. I've never hired a pet sitting service until recently because I was always nervous about letting strangers in my house while I was gone. But I finally needed to hire a service when none of my friends could help me. I found Fairydust Pet Sitting from a post on Nextdoor. I called Donna the owner and she was amazing from the very beginning. She set up a time to come to my home, gather all the particulars about my pet and me that was relevant. She insisted that they have a photo of my pet on file just in case the needed it. She took care to understand my alarm system and the play habits of my pet. She was very thorough. She then showed me a photo and background of the sitter that would be coming to my home. She made me feel totally comfortable with the process. The pricing is reasonable!
