This is such a great little, picturesque park located to the right of the Clarkston Village…read moreoffices. It's a smaller space that's very well-designed with undulating grounds, sufficient open spaces, 2 little bridges that go over a small river (creek?) with ducks, a gazebo, and lots of trees. There are no grills or anything, but lots of perfectly placed sitting benches (even a few swinging ones) and a decent amount of picnic benches. It's a great place to walk the pups, the love interest in your life, or have a blanket or bench picnic with the family. I believe the gazebo side has hosted outdoor weddings and I have seen pro photographers snapping pics of their subjects (just to give you an idea of the looks of it). The kids playground has enough activity sets that are nicely spread out for tiny kids and big kids. My 3 y/o son loves coming here. I think it's his favorite spot thus far. He loves seeing the ducks who are super tame and will come right up to you on the banks expecting to be fed. Unfortunately, feeding birds like this makes them dependent on handouts and I didn't see any signs forbidding it so far. Maybe the ducks are on the Village dole on the off-season, who knows? Bread is really not the best to feed them with (little nutritional value), so consider taking things like cracked, corn, fresh peas, or grape HALVES (per the internet...so you may want to double check that info). If you decide to visit the park, also take the opportunity to walk the Village's small main street or walk off a date meal at one of the local hot spots (Union Woodshop and Clarkston Union). The walkable residential street of Holcomb (off Washington) has some nice old houses to look at or drive by. When you turn onto Depot Rd (keep your eyes peeled, you just might miss it), the parking lot is on the left across from the offices. They have doggie poo bag stations and (the one minus) porta-potties for bathrooms. Top Yelp-rated Cook's Dairy (ice cream) in Ortonville can be integrated into a trip to Clarkston Village. It's only 10 minutes away going up M-15.

This is a review regarding our experience having a children's party. Overall, I would say I am…read morehappy with what we received for the cost - compared to other places to have a kids party. If you're not wanting to spend top dollar for your kids party, then this would be a good option. The kids had a blast, the staff was polite & overall we were pleased with the day. However, here are a few warnings... They are clearly understaffed. You, as the host, will be facilitating all aspects of your party. Do not expect any customer service beyond the bare minimum. They said they would call 3 days before the party to confirm head count & menu, they never called. I called all day 2 days prior, finally made one last call before heading there in person & they finally answered. During the party, I had to basically take care of everything. Never once did anyone come and ask if we needed anything. I had to walk away from our party, find an available staff member (which usually ment waiting in a line) & ask for them for every single thing. To bring pitchers of drinks (if refills were needed I had to go to the bar & get them refilled myself), the food was late coming out so I had to go find a person to bring out the food (it had clearly been sitting in the back, it was barely warm), etc. Do not expect to be sitting and enjoying your kids during their party or socializing with guests very much, you will be making sure everything is being handled & walking around looking for staff or waiting in line. I will say, all of my interactions with staff were polite and positive. They are handling the chaos of the place very well. At the end of the day, it was nice to not have to clean up or have a party at our home, but I don't feel I was able to really enjoy my guests or experience the party with my kids because I was running around making sure everything was being taken care of. My advice to the bowling alley would be to assign a host/staff member specifically to facilitate all the parties to make sure everything is running smoothly. Actually check on your guests who are spending hundreds of dollars in your business. A little customer service could go a long way.

Service was okay just took forever to get to my booth. Not a real Montessori school, demonstrates blatant disregard for student well-being. Your money…read morewon't go towards your child's education here. We withdrew after 7 weeks. Where to start... When my older son was so riddled with anxiety one day he refused to get out of the car at drop-off I knew I had to spend some time in the classrooms to see first-hand what was going on. Up until this point we had heard stories from the kids, were suspicious of the lack of work being done, and had already had a meeting with the headmaster over a separate safety issue that was going on at school. What I found when I visited the classrooms was virtually no academic work being done, the core components of a Montessori program not being delivered, and a hazardously frigid cold building. HAZARDOUS SCHOOL BUILDING. At $17k+ tuition, you'd think a school would have basic necessities like heat. I've attached a photo of the thermostat from inside my 2nd graders classroom on the day we pulled him out of this place. 52 degrees in the 3rd week of October. I was told it was "too early" to turn on the heat. See attached violation from the City of Pontiac building department for no heat and not maintaining a temperature of 68 degrees. This citation was a week after we left. Let that sink in that another week went by before they corrected the issue of freezing cold classrooms. FALSE CLAIMS TO BE A MONTESSORI PROGRAM. This school claims to be "fully accredited" and we were told (in writing) that they were a member of AMS (The American Montessori Society), yet when I verified their membership status (see attached letter from AMS) I found out they haven't even been members since 2020. NO INDIVIDUALIZED OR CHILD LED LEARNING (i.e. not Montessori). Kids had same lessons assigned. The Upper Elementary and Middle School are grouped together under the same lead teacher (we were not told this when we signed up). Montessori should have a 3 year age range, not 5. I observed my 4th grader and my 7th grader working on the same materials, and that work was way below even the 4th grade level. The teacher (Ms. Carey) admitted to giving my 7th grader the wrong math and science work for the previous 7 weeks. Ms. Carey admitted that our kids at 7 weeks into the program did not have the materials or the adult support to work on anything beyond what was setup for the classroom for the start of the school year. CHAOTIC STRESSFUL ENVIRONMENT. A Montessori learning environment is supposed to provide a peaceful and quiet environment where students can work uninterrupted for long periods of time. This environment was so chaotic and full of constant interruptions (including flying sharp objects being thrown across the room and other safety issues) that my kids were nervous wrecks. My older son's friend was hit in the face with a pair of scissors that someone threw. DOCUMENTED LEARNING LOSS. In the 7 weeks we attended this school, my kids went from having great grades and high scores on their academic testing from the end of the previous school year in Math, to failing the math placement tests for the school they attended last year. We now are paying for weekly private tutoring to get caught up. This is all well documented.
