The bikini was not cheap ($156), so I assumed the quality would be better than most retail stores. However, after wearing the bathing suit less than a handful of times, I noticed that the blue color started to bleed into the white, the white started to turn brown, and the material started to get crinkled / rough looking (looking destroyed). I hand washed the item each time it was worn, and I have laid it out to dry because I knew that a dryer would ruin any type of bathing suit material. I stopped by the store to show the sales rep what it looked like and to express my disappointment, and they gave me a business card to contact the company's customer service. The also suggested that I include several pictures of my issue. After 2 phone calls and several emails back-and-forth (including proof of purchase), I was hoping that the company would make things right somehow. Instead, they presumptuously accused me for the discoloration of the suit with self tanner and sunscreen. I emailed them back letting them know that I do not like to use chemicals on my body and that no sunscreen or self tanner was used. They told me to use their cleaner for the discoloration and didn't even offer to ship me a complimentary bottle. Aside from that issue, I told them that the biggest issue was the material itself and emailed them the photos again to take another look. I have asked for a supervisor 4 times through calls and emails, and there doesn't seem to be one at all. I ended up reading a dozen reviews on Trustpilot only to learn that each customer who left a 1 or 2 star poor review complained about similar issues. I just filed a complaint with the BBB. How does a company get away with this kind of behavior. I wasn't even requesting a refund, but they didn't make it right at all... First, seating can be a challenge. There is plenty of outdoor seating but not much indoors. The day we went it was pretty hot and sitting outside was not the most enjoyable experience at times. Second, I fully support spending money at local businesses but the tipping culture here felt a bit excessive. I bought a bag of coffee beans with no drink and was prompted for a tip. I spent $45 for 12 pieces of chocolates at Oban Chocolatier and was asked for a tip there too. Same thing when I spent about $25 on four cookies at Gideon's Bakehouse. I am happy to support but it started to feel like a lot in a not enjoyable way. Third, the hours between vendors can be a bit awkward. We came around brunch time which worked for some spots but others were not open yet. For example, Domu does not open until dinner (5PM) and Gyukatsu Rose was not opening until later in the afternoon (3 PM) Overall, I think this is a great place to check out especially if you enjoy trying a variety of local spots. Just plan ahead for seating and timing and be prepared for lots of tip prompts along the way.
