I will preface this by saying that the owner of the company offered a full refund of our video, which was great, but the sequence of events after the wedding was a disaster. They lost 75% of our footage due to a "chip malfunction". We were married on October 16, 2021. The email received after the wedding noted it would take about 2 months to get our video with no preview video due to extreme client volume. We were fine with this knowing 2021 was an insane year for weddings. I had not heard from for about 2 months, so I decided to email them the week between Christmas and New Year for an update. They stated that our video was out of production and that they will have it by New Year (very exciting!). When I didn't hear from the by the New Year, I gave them time since, again, I knew they were busy (not really an excuse because they shouldn't have taken such a big volume of clients knowing they couldn't keep their word, but that's besides the point). I decided to email them the last week of January for another update regarding our wedding video. They responded the following day via email with an update...they had lost 75% of our footage due to "chip malfunction". Not only did they NOT call the moment they realized the footage was gone (probably the last week of December), they decided to EMAIL me this news. They also took it upon themselves to throw this malfunctioned chip away, which we were made aware of after we had asked for it to see if we could retrieve any footage from it ourselves. The whole situation was handled with a complete lack of professionalism or empathy. As you can imagine, we were devastated about the situation, but completely understood that these things unfortunately can happened. I was shocked knowing that I was speaking to the owner of the company when I requested to speak to someone higher in the company. The owner should have contacted us the moment that they knew about the situation. They also should have watched the video that was provided to us, which was amateur and embarrassing. When I complained about the video they did create, they stated that we had signed a contract for the content and that they get meet every expectation of the client. We then went through the entire raw footage of the little footage we did have, so we pretty much created the video ourselves. The video is still embarrassing and would never be shown, but it's at least something to remember our wedding day. Brides, be warned. They are not professional and are taking on way too many weddings. Don't hire them as a videographer. You will regret this read more

Quickly got us an affordable quote, included us in the planning process, and were timely and enjoyable on the day of the wedding. Our videographer on the day of the event was not only talented but kind, personable, and professional. He captured the day perfectly. I should have never set my expectation low however, this team proved themselves to be truly exceptional. They were on time at each site, and so discrete in their presence. Full disclosure: my wife and I used Fairytale Productions for our wedding reception in October 2015, so this review is adapted from notes I took during the process. We used their photography & DJ services. First, the positives: due to some poor planning on my part, I began the booking process with Fairytale very soon before our reception, but they were more than accommodating, told me not to worry, and de-stressed me on the spot. As a bonus, they were very reasonably priced, and even had some nice specials going for getting a metal canvas print and free photo credit. I did all the planning and payment over the phone, and found that part of the process pretty convenient. My wife and I loved having a nice swath of available photographers, and really couldn't be happier with the pictures she took. Her process and attitude was professional and easy-going. Though my wife had researched several individual and group poses beforehand, the photographer threw in some cute ideas of her own. The actual issue we had with photography was after the big day. Fairytale totes a hardline "no sneak previews" policy on your photos, their reason being to prevent early customer feedback on the editing style of the photos and sort of a "you get what you get" stance. The funny part about that policy is that I couldn't really interact with the photographer directly (anymore than I could with the DJ), as Fairytale works hard to be an established middle man between you and your service contractors. But, when you're dropping non-trivial stacks on photography, you can't just not communicate for two months, which is how long it took until I saw a single photo. Now the DJ was another story. Fairytale (or maybe the contractor DJ, I'm not sure) had some pretty horrendous web software for playlist planning, not only user-unfriendly, but we'd already spent meticulous hours crafting Spotify playlists for dinner & dancing. The thought of transferring our work seemed needless, so we emailed Fairytale telling them about the Spotify playlists and they obliged. In essence, we did all the work of compiling the playlists...literally every song, including a self-proclaimed kick-ass wedding party entrance sequence that my wife held up as her shining jewel. We told the DJ don't play anything else but these songs. All he had to do was hit "play". Come the big day and the big entrance, and the DJ completely botched the first song, as in, played his own random song (it was supposed to be the "Friends" theme if y'all are curious). It was a very "you had one job" moment. Honestly, I didn't really want the DJ so much as I wanted his equipment and lighting. Some might claim I'm mole-mountaining this, but honestly, when you spend hours planning the songs your guests are going to hear, along with detailed instructions, mistakes are kinda unforgivable. Let me conclude by saying that I think Fairytale itself did a good job logistically, priced its services fairly (especially in an industry which "gouges on emotion"), and was flexible with our schedule and needs, but I also hold them partially responsible for the contractors they use and the policies they adopt. On December 4th we did or DJ and VIDEOGRAPHER through these guys.. The DJ was not the greatest.. He had some flaws.. Probably due to not "ever" going to any rehearsals. The details were key and he did not meet up to expectations. Slight mistake here and there.. But the worst of them all was announcing my name the husband as my brothers name countless times even after trying to correct him. The VIDEOGRAPHERS were the greatest and would recommend then to everyone.. They were there the whole time from the beginning to the end.. Very pleased with their performance. And I'm positive they were able to capture as much moments as possible (including the name mishap) for me and my wife to cherish these videos forever. read more

I would not recommend this company for wedding photos, the videographer was amazing but the photographer was awful. The pictures we were sent looked like i could have taken better one on my phone. Everything was of center, there was porta potties in the back ground - which the "fixed" buy cropping them out which made the photo even more off center. The photographer was very angry at the fact the Groomsmen did not know how to put on their boutonnieres and cuff inks which is understandable but the way she handled it was not! My husband's parents both passed away which i said ahead of time so nothing was brought up to make his upset, well she kept asking his where his mother was and telling him that she needs to be here to do these things. Which was very upsetting. I also gave her a timeline and the shot list i created that they requested we make. I showed her it and gave everyone who was in the photos a when, where, and what card so she would just have to show up. Completely bypassed all of that. After the wedding we only got one picture of the wedging party that was terrible. NONE of my husband and I until later when there was fireworks we did not know about. the pictures we got from the fireworks looked like there weren't even any fireworks and they manager later said they have technology cannot be wet which I get but there was a whole awning over them blocking them from the rain, but even crazier the videographer got the shots so why didn't she? overall extremely upset with the photos. read more

My experience with fairytale productions was great. I was planning my highschool reunion and had a tight budget to work with. Fairytale productions was willing to work with me and their photobooth package was great! They had given me a few custom design options for my photostrip that featured our class colors and mascot logo. They arrived at our venue exactly when they said they would to set up the photobooth and all of the fun props they brought along. They printed out enough strips for each guest in the photobooth to have a copy and then pasted a strip from each photo session into a memory book for us. I will be using this memory book at my future reunions. Shortly after the event, fairytale productions emailed me the link and password to download all of the photobooth images which I shared on our class reunion website. I really was happy with our wedding video from fairytale productions! The quality of our video was absolutely amazing! The imagery was very crisp. We shared our video with a ton of people and everyone complimented the quality of the video which was great. I'm so glad we got our video. It may have been cause of the pandemic as well but our video was done within a month. As many people can relate I had a hard time with some of my vendors because we had to change things around and scale back but fairytale productions was very accommodating. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Fairytale Productions was a HUGE disappointment and they should be ashamed of themselves. Our 350 guest, out of state wedding was scheduled for 6/20/20. Unfortunately, we had to postpone because of Covid-19 and notified our venue/vendors of this in April/May. Tom (owner) has withheld our $1,000 deposit and has refused to reimburse us. We did not cancel on our own terms, we did not foresee a global pandemic happening, we did not receive any services from them, we did not take away any potential business they would have had because the state of MI was under a mandated shelter in place. They're the only vendor that has chosen to conduct business this way. We fully understand small, privately owned businesses are struggling through the tough times, but you cannot STEAL someones money for services you never provided. A quote from Tom himself "You can still have a wedding, it just needs to be a smaller gathering".....this disrespectful quote was also false because again, the state of MI was under a mandated shelter in place with gatherings only up to 20. The DJ was on time and had everything set up in time for the ceremony/reception. Really professional communication before/during the event. He played nearly every song we had requested him to include and played everything my drunk family requested at the reception. We used Fairytale to photograph our wedding in Southfield in September 2014. The photographer was great and got some pretty great shots of the day and evening. Dealing with the post wedding stuff has been a nightmare! The support staff is unresponsive and is still refusing to even deliver on the products that we contracted for. At first they told us that our album proofs were sent to us, we never received them. Asked them to resend, 2 weeks later, still no answer. Sending emails just seems to go into a void. We felt like we were getting a great deal. For everything included, the other photo booth services we looked at didn't even come close. We were able to complete forms online, which made life simple since we live in California and were planning a wedding to happen in Toledo, OH. On wedding day, they were already set up and ready for our guests at cocktail hour and throughout the evening. There was a large selection or props and the booth was a huge hit with our guests. We live in Ohio, but they were accommodating and had no problem making the drive for our wedding day. Please consider another venue if you are not doing a wedding. We did our daughter's sweet 16 through this company and while everyone was very nice, we were ultimately very disappointed in our products being delivered 7 months after the event. The photo album was a notch above shutterfly quality with a plain black leatherette cover and no engraving. My total including a hard drive of the total event (since we had missing family members in the final video) was $1400. I was made to feel like they were giving me a great deal since the weddings "cost so much more" and while we will always have wonderful memories of the event, it was not that it was captured with supreme quality, especially coming so late after the event. One word of caution--the owner of the company is a really nice guy, but very defensive and I really feel we would have been happy to pay the fee if we would have just received better quality products at the end...after all that time...I am so bitterly disappointed. We will not be doing any further business with this company, but I have heard they are good for weddings. I just am so upset I decided on them for a sweet 16 venue.
