Reasonably priced nice dresses...but the positivity stops there. I ended up purchasing a dress with a low back but was advised by the clerk who served me that it would be an easy and simple alteration to raise the back 2-3 inches to cover a tattoo. The clerk admitted she didn't know the exact cost but said that it likely wouldn't be much since it only had to come up 2-3 inches. Fast forward a few months and I was quoted $960.50-$1367.30 (depending on what option I selected) for what was supposed to be a "simple" alteration that wouldn't cost that much. Keep in mind this quote for alterations did not include standard alterations for length, bust, waist etc. When I asked the store to break down the expense for me by providing the hourly rate of the seamstress and to explain why it cost so much they said they couldn't comment. When I spoke with the manager she apologized and advised that not all of the clerks are properly trained to advise in alterations.....and offered me $200 off...which isn't even a 10% discount to cover HST on the most expensive option. The issue was never resolved by the store as I declined their tailoring services and will be going to a much more reasonable and transparent tailor. PICK UP If you work during the week like most people, expect to be treated like an inconvenience if you want to pick up your dress on the weekend. When I was told my dress had arrived, I was asked when during Monday-Friday I could pick up my dress. Seeing as I work and have to fight rush hour traffic to get to the store that was not an option. I was told that the clerk would need to seek management approval for me to come on a weekend...I was then offered appointment times before the store even open and when I asked why I was being offered times outside when the store was open I was told that it was in fact with in business hours because the clerks come in early before the store opens. Long story short my request to come on a weekend when the store is open was finally accommodated after much back and forth.

They readily accepted the appointment and my bridesmaid surprised me by telling me they'd found another place for us to go. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the staff and they gave me a quick tour of the store while the girls and my mom looked around a bit. I was introduced to my consultant, Mandy, who showed my girls and my mom to our semi-private room, and then took me out onto the floor to discuss what I wanted. I will say, I definitely appreciated the semi private room. the only thing that didn't make it totally private was the lack of a door, but really, doesn't make a difference!! I felt like I had the store to myself and it was lovely to not have to be on parade for a bunch of strangers. Mandy and I discussed my budget and the type of dress I was looking for (no lace, very sparkly, different and fit and flare style) and she showed me a few things to gauge what I liked and didn't like. She showed me back to the room and very politely told me 'we're going to get to know each other real well today! what size bra are you' and informed me that the strapless bra I was wearing wasn't going to be enough support for me (she was right). She got me fitted into a corset and then we started trying on dresses. There are a ton of "best parts" of this visit: 1) Mandy did me up into every single dress - every single loop was done up and she actually put me INTO the dress and pulled them tight so I knew what I was getting into 2) She made sure I had a grand entrance with every single dress, she would pull back the curtains and ask my ladies "are you ready?!" and then I'd get to enter and get up on the pedestal 3) The pedestal is KEY, you need the extra height because the dresses are longer (I'm only 5'6") and it really helped to highlight the shape of the dress and how it would fall 4) She put me in a variety of dresses, even some I would have never considered trying. It was nice to see myself in something different than I'd envisioned and it made me realize how many options I had. 5) The rooms had dimmers, so when I came out in the super sparkly dresses, she dimmed the lights a bit so you could see how it would look at the reception. I loved this because it wasn't the standard florescent lighting and it helped to highlight the details of each dress 6) I didn't have to wait to be jacked up. Mandy immediately brought in belts and earrings and held them up so I could get a whole look. She also put my hair up with the first dress so that it was back from my face for every dress I tried on. I found my dress that afternoon and purchased it on the spot. I can't say enough about how wonderful Bridal Desires was for my wedding dress. We returned a few months later to purchase my bridesmaids dresses and unfortunately, Mandy wasn't available. The other consultants were good but not as good as Mandy and I felt like they weren't as focused on us. However, my bridesmaids dresses turned out gorgeous and the girls were all happy too.

First of all, the store itself is stunning. I also love how they offer a curated selection of wedding related accessories as well such as gorgeous silk dressing gowns, bridal jewelry, clutches, bridesmaid gifts, etc. The pricing is also reasonable in my opinion, with dresses in the $1000 - $5000 range. Our consultant, Hallie (spelling?) was very sweet and helpful. I really like how they allow you to select five gowns to try first by clipping a clothespin to the top of the hanger of the dresses you are interested in trying on. They have large racks of stunning dresses to choose from and also stock Canadian designers (love that!). Your choices are then set up beautifully in a change room to try on. Hallie was awesome and helped me get myself into all of the gowns I tried on. They also had shoes for me to borrow while trying on gowns (something I seem to always forget to bring with me!) which was very appreciated. Although I didn't say yes to the dress on this particular occasion, I did really love a gown that is in my budget and (almost) everything I want. Since I have a bit more time, I will do a bit more shopping but definitely will keep Sash & Bustle at the top of my mind! Our consultant also mentioned that they offer bridal styling appointments as well, even if you purchase your gown elsewhere. I will also keep them in mind for help with this in the event I don't get my dress from this location. We were able to fit in an appointment the day before for Sunday at 11 a.m. Despite the dingy outside appearances, there's quite a great selection of dresses, and Susan, the sales rep who helped my friend, had a great attitude and fetched some great dresses. We came out with three great options. I don't know what my friend will decide on in the end; that's up to her. But out of all the stores we went to, we felt like we had the best customer try-on experience here. There wasn't any pressure to buy, and Susan was genuinely positive and friendly; we felt comfortable with her. Plus, the dress prices were more affordable, about $1100-$1200 for the ones we liked. Though the quality of the fabric may not be as high as some of the other dresses we tried on at more premium stores, what's most important is the style and how it looks in photographs. Though I think we only mentioned a budget of $1500 so maybe there are higher quality dresses at a higher price point. The customer service and value is among the best. Definitely give them a look if you're in the market for wedding dresses.

During my 6 months searching for a dress, I came back here quite a few times and always worked with Mackenzie. I came back for a total of 5 times for different reasons, trying on 1 single dress to see how I feel, and full blown dress picking appointment. Mackenzie was always patient and we got along well. It gets really busy here on the weekends, and it really affects your experience here. I came by once to try a specific dress, which I told them and called ahead of time. Not only was M. not there (on her lunch), but someone was supposed to sub for her. We waited 15 mins for someone, and finally they let me in, but they could not find the dress I specified. They even brought me a different one than I had called in for (the file had the name, and it was correct). I wasn't pleased. The day I finally came to buy the dress, with my mom, 2 friends and the MiL, they got me in the dress, then left me for at least 10+mins. There were so many awkward situations where I don't know where M. had disappeared to and why things were taking so long. I also got some ideas for Veils from the guy that makes it. I found his attitude a little abrasive, and rude. It's not my fault I don't know how to look at the veil and adjust the mirrors! They make Veils in house and they range from $100-400. The entire appointment that day took about 1.5 hours, but a lot of it was standing around. I decided to buy the dress here, because they were one of few in Toronto that carried it, plus it was in a convenient location, and I've bothered them so much already. I get 10% off for taking the dress offsite to alter, and I decided to do this - they will back up the alterations in case anything will go wrong, also since they are so busy, I don't want to have to have a bad experience. I can't imagine anything else will happen from now until I pick up the dress. So there it is! --- Edit: so when I went to pick up my dress, I had to actually make an appointment, which was a little strange to me, given that I paid for it already, and physically just picking it up. I was told this was necessary so that someone can greet me and have the dress ready. When I got there on what seemed to be a quiet Friday afternoon, there was no one to greet me. Finally someone came and saw me, and went to the back to get my dress. She disappears for about 5 mins, and another women back from break walks in an sees me standing there. Checks me in, a 2nd time, and goes to the back to look for my dress. This boggles my mind because I was so sternly told that I needed to make an appointment, and yet, neither a person nor my dress was ready. Finally she came, and I picked up my dress. Just a word of warning I guess.

I know that this is to ensure that I don't look for it cheaper somewhere else, but this is horrible customer service practice. Miraculously, I was still able to find the dress at the next appointment and compare it when I found another one I loved just as much, and ended up buying my dress at the other shop. If they had let me take a picture of it and I had decided that I liked the dress I first tried on at Beckers best, I would have gone back to purchase it but because they were unhelpful regarding this important aspect, I wouldn't have.
