I entrusted them with two…read moreone-of-a-kind blueprints created by my late father--pieces that were decades old and held immense sentimental value. Both were completely destroyed due to their incompetence. I had been a loyal customer for years under previous ownership, which is why I kept coming back. Unfortunately, this experience has made it clear that things have changed--and I will not be returning. The service was extremely slow. I brought the blueprints in just before Christmas 2024, and by early February, I had to call to check on the status. Only then was I told they were prepping for a move and would contact me shortly. When they did call me to tell me they were ready for pick up, I checked one and it seemed pretty good (a few bubbles in the mounting but tolerable). The other I didn't open until I got home and it was full of bubbles. These pieces should have never been allowed to leave the store in that condition. Bottom line: it's apparent that they are not well versed in using the heat application equipment process (used to secure the blueprint paper to the backing). This left air bubbles in the pieces and they then tried running them through the machine at a higher heat, which only made things worse. They blamed the paper, stating that it is not always guaranteed to eliminate wrinkles, however, having tried one 'sacrificial' blue print afterward as a test and using a higher heat, it produced a completely flat mount. In the end, I had to provide two different blueprints and change the mounting format entirely. The whole process dragged on for months. While they offered to refund the mounting service (approx. $100), the framing for both cost $1,000--plus, the original blueprints were completely destroyed, and I had to settle for different pieces to replace these. What makes this even worse is the complete lack of accountability. The salesperson I dealt with, Stormy, never once apologised or acknowledged the extent of the damage. For a business that handles irreplaceable items, this disregard for customers and their property is unacceptable. If you value your artwork or sentimental pieces, do not trust them with your items. I wanted to have…read more3 pictures reframed and was told there could be a supplier discount, there was also a setup fee which I was told to be $18. FBD was supposed to call the next morning to confirm this discount. This did not occur, and I followed up by phone call. "Stormy" the proprietor indicated that suppliers were not available until later in the week. She followed up with the discount information and stated that her employee did not offer $18 for the setup fee. Stormy was confrontational, aggressive and argumentative in her response. Better to take your business where the customer is respected and not stressed out! I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone.

I don't like hurting a business over one bad experience, and maybe that's all this was - but wow! I left Framing Depot without a birthday gift for my husband and feeling completely disrespected. I wasn't treated right - plain and simple. I've used Framing Depot before and had good results, so this came out of nowhere. I placed an order ahead of my husband's birthday. On the Saturday before (they're closed Sundays), I called to confirm pickup. I gave my last name, was asked to repeat it a few times - my name is tricky and perhaps the line was bad. Then I was told - with clear irritation - "Can you just spell it?" I replied, "Sure. You just had to ask." No doubt I was a bit annoyed with his tone. When I arrived, the mat colour was wrong. The owner pointed to the paperwork and insisted it matched the order. I hadn't filled it out the paperwork, and said as much. Instead of owning the mistake, he kept pointing to the paperwork, so I firmly reminded him I hadn't filled it out - I didn't work there. Once he finally acknowledged the error, he offered to fix it - but not until Monday, the day of the birthday, which didn't work for me. He told me I had an attitude - and that I'd had it long before I arrived - referencing the earlier phone call where I'd said, "You just have to ask" when asked to spell my name. He said, " I was there, he did ask!" It became clear I was dealing with someone who was already angry with me. I said I'd come back to speak to someone else, as the interaction was going sideways. He repeated that I had an "attitude," again citing the call. I reiterated I'd be leaving and would speak with someone else. Then, out of nowhere, he said, "You're not getting a discount." I hadn't asked for one though, frankly, it would've been appropriate given the error and how I was being spoken to. He repeated that I had a bad attitude, told me he was the owner, and said, "I don't give a f***." His words. I responded, "Clearly." He seemed visibly charged and completely unaware of how he was coming across. I wasn't scared, but it did occur to me that I was alone in a store with a man twice my size who was being irrational. I admit I had a bit of tone on the phone - in response to someone being irritated with me. But even if I concede I had an attitude, does that really warrant this kind of response? "I'm the owner and I don't give a f***"? I told him I wouldn't be taking or paying for the frame. He was in agreement with not continuing to do business with one another. He then tried to break it in front of me and managed to crack it. I left empty-handed and rattled. An aggressive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable behaviour from someone running a customer-facing business. But as he said -- he didn't give a f***.

I was hoping to save an extra trip to the store and just go once to pick up the glass. I even confirmed with an employee that they indeed received the message and she said her manager would be contacting me. No response. I try again. No Response. Does The Framing Depot really not want my business? Did I offend them by using their website ... which is the point of a website.

I didn't know that there is a pocket of stores tucked away on the south side of Kingston Road. This Michaels looks fairly knew compared to my local one in Markham. I parked practically in front of the main doors and walked in. Normally, I get lost in Michaels. I do well finding areas such as jewellery, yarn, and picture frames. I also managed to find the washrooms, which were clean. The best part is that you hit the women's washroom before the men's, which was a nice change. My true test visiting any Michaels store is to find calligraphy pens. I have the worst time finding such a specific, small section. Guess what? I found the section in a heartbeat. It has a decent selection of calligraphy pens with felt nibs that are like markers, pens with nibs that you dip in ink, and pens that you need to refill with ink. I was happy! I had a good time researching what yarns and simple projects I want to learn to do. It's interesting that I am fine with loom and cork knitting, but give me two knitting needles and I need help!
