In 2001, Faith Art Gallery helped me to turn my first apartment into a home. Yearrrrs before BLM and everything "melinated" began trending, Faith Gallery was all the way into it. I was 23 and I didn't want the walls of my first crib to be bare or covered in corniness. The artwork that I purchased from this beautiful place turned my little spot into a real showplace. Faith sells gorgeous paintings, calendars and yearly planners that are drawn and painted by a variety of talented Black artist's. They also sell very cool Black History pieces, like copies of The Emancipation Proclamation. Faith Art Gallery does custom framing as well. It's a beautiful place, a part of this woman's Black History and I'm hopeful that they'll be around for decades to come. read more

I had several pieces custom framed here over the years, and the quality of their work is nothing less than stellar. If you want something cheap that looks ok, this is not the place for you and you may be better off finding something on-line. If you want to frame a valued piece, or something you care about, so that it will look beautiful, then this is definitely the place for you. I like how the owner is always able to suggest a range of different options, so that if price is a concern, you can always find something that is not the most expensive option, but it will still look really good and will last. If you can afford it, I absolutely recommend the no-glare, gallery-quality glass. It is expensive, but it makes a huge difference. Any piece looks infinitely better under a no-glare glass that is almost invisible. I've always been able to negotiate the price, particularly as I often bring multiple pieces to be framed. Their framing services are not cheap, but the quality is high. If quality is what matters most to you when framing a priced, valued object, you'll be happy with the quality of the services provided by Faith Art Gallery. read more

Something is weird here. I've had things framed here before, at least twice. The quality was good, and the service was friendly. Today I tried to go again to have three pieces custom framed. I stopped at the door because someone had propped up a large piece of mat board just inside, and I wasn't sure what that meant, but it looked like a barrier. I waited and could see someone inside working at the desk, who made eye contact a few times but didn't acknowledge me. I continued to stand awkwardly at the door for several more minutes when someone walked up, opened the door, moved the mat board aside, and then closed the door behind them. I rechecked the door to see if there was any sign indicating what was going on (there wasn't) and then motioned to the person who had just entered. He pushed the door open partially, and I asked, "are you open?" He said "no" and moved to close the door. I said, "well, why not?" and he said, "we have a lot of work already." I told him that I didn't think this was a very business-friendly approach. He just shook his head and shut the door. I guess this business has all of the work they need for the rest of eternity! Something is weird here; I would avoid it. At the very least, this is not a professionally run business. read more

Faith Art Gallery offers the best customer service EVER. I took a painting to the store in 2014. I completely forgot about it, walked in there to check out their calendar selection. I mentioned to Tony that years ago i bought in a painting to be framed. i showed him my face, it was a self portrait..He said hold on, went to the back and I was in awe. I was so embarrassed and at the same time in total shock. After all these years and they held on to it! Now this is what I called absolute great customer service at the highest level. Love it! I had a great experience with Faith. First I brought in a piece with cracked archival glass and they replaced it for a very reasonable price. I then brought in two pieces for framing. The person I presume is the owner spent a lot of time with me picking matting for one piece and the finished work was lovely and again reasonably priced. Everything was completed the same day. We had spoken to several places and this place did the same quality work for literally a fraction of the price, with a 1 day turnaround. This frame shop used to be my go-to place. It's conveniently located in downtown Brooklyn on Jay Street. The pricing is usually not too bad. And the owner is charming. In the last year I have dropped off a total of 7 pieces on three different occasions. I have called to have them picked up no more and no less than SIX times. Whenever I call, they say they are terribly busy and they will return my call. I have yet to have any of my calls returned. I truly believe they have lost my pieces. One thing that is a little annoying is the location is right on Jay Street so there is zero parking in that area. This is the reason why I have been consistently calling. I also have a bad back so walking with those pieces is not an option. I will be going in personally next week after a pre-emptive phone call to let them know I will be coming to collect my pieces. If the pieces are lost or they do not have them I'm not sure how to proceed but the artwork alone is worth investigating a lawyer. In the last few years the quality of work has also declined. My guess is the bigger you get, the less you care for your long time loyal customers. That's a shame. read more

I have to admit, I was a little nervous bringing a few paintings here for custom framing. There's nothing worse than a botched frame job. I was, however, in a rush... and they claimed 1 hour service. One. Hour. Service. Other framing shops in the city claim that their two week service is an amazing deal. Only two weeks. That's 14 days...336 hours, to be exact. 335 more than what Faith claimed. With my three paintings in hand, I nervously picked out my frames (they have a fairly good selection, with reasonable prices). And, when I asked how long it would be, i was told, "59 minutes," which, though I know I don't need to tell you, is even less than one hour. And you know what? They were done, all three of them, in 59 minutes. Done exceedingly well, and exactly as I had directed. Next time, I won't be nervous at all. This place is worth visiting. read more

I love this place. You can purchase originals, prints and all. I was walking past one day and saw a painting that I've loved for a while in the window. I was thrilled to see that they had it. I didn't purchase it that day but someone else took notice and I received it as a gift last Christmas. It was the last one they had and it was a Limited Original Edition. I was thrilled. They have other works I am interested in and as a beginning young black art collector I have to keep away otherwise I may go broke with all that I would like to buy. My friend is graduating with a Ph.D in Pharmacology in Dec 2012 and I already know her graduation gift is coming from here. read more

Upon walking in I was greeted by Tony who was patient and showed me many frames and mattes to match my pictures. Great service, and Great price. What a mistake to bring our favorite wedding picture (sized about 25 x 35 inches) to this place to frame. It was a picture that had been taken and specially printed during our wedding outside the US and had been gifted to us by a special friend. So as a gift, it was really special to us. Only three weeks after we hung the framed picture in our living room, the picture started buckling from the undersurface (not well glued down). We took it back to these guys and Tony agreed to fix it. During the fix, they apparently tore up and ruined the picture. I understand that accidents happen but what really pissed me off was that they never told us that it happened. They took a picture of the ripped original picture and got it printed (in low quality) and framed. When my wife went to pick it up, she noticed the difference in quality of the print (including some distortions and color mismatch) and brought it to their attention but they denied that this was anything but the original picture. They flat out lied and showed my wife an attitude as to why she was "wasting their time". Finally after a couple of back-and-forth to the store, we made them open the frame and we all saw that the logo of the previous printing company at the corner of the picture was truncated in this new print, a clear evidence that this was not our original picture. Facing the evidence, they said "yes, it was damaged during the work". Absolutely no apology for the damage and none for lying to us!! They flat out lied to our face and when their mess was revealed, no regret or apology. After going through a hell lot of hassle, we got it printed overseas and shipped to the US (Tony only paid for the printing fee). Of course, we wasted a lot of time and energy (leave alone the commute and postage expenses) to deal with this. And now we are left with a copy of our picture (still unframed) which is not even the actual gift we were given during our wedding. The most important characteristic of every business, in my opinion, is honesty. These guys are lacking honesty. Avoid them at all costs. Best wishes to all. read more

This place literally blew me away! Tony, the owner, exhibited remarkable customer service. He was incredible. He told me that he would deliver my custom frame job in 49 minutes which I thought was going to be impossible. I had 4 pieces to be framed. All 4 pieces ended up being framed by Tony's colleague, Eric, in 38 minutes! I could not believe it. I thoroughly inspected all of the frames and the craftsmanship was top class. They work quickly but they do not skimp on professionalism or perfection. They also took care to pack the frames for me very carefully as if the frames were their own. Lastly, their prices were less expensive than other custom frame shops I have visited in NYC. And they sell some impressive art work at their shop as well. Searching the internet, I came across the good reviews of Faith Art Gallery, I went by the shop and I spoke to Tony. I showed him the artwork I wanted to frame, he showed me a few frames and mattes that worked with my artwork, with his help I chose the perfect combination. His price for the custom framing job was affordable. He told me the framing job will be ready the next day. The framing job they did was superb. A few days later I took another artwork to be framed, again these guys did another superb job.
