They emailed me a reminder and said I could bring my mom (I have horrible sciatica since my c section and if I'm on the floor too long my legs go numb), so that was nice. This is located in the basement of a temple. Parking is in the back and around, so use your strollers. There is a ramp so that is super helpful. You'll enter a basement that has a few rooms and a central area, as well as a bathroom with a changing table. All good things. We were ushered to a room that had a foam piece floor to sit around and a table with tiny chairs to the side. We sat on the floor and sang some songs. For itsy bitsy spider the teacher came around with a small plush spider and gently rubbed it on each child. As a first time mom I did not like that. Happily she touched my daughters leg but some kids faces... not into it. Then after a few typical kids songs we stood up (well my mom took my daughter) and did a run around song around the table. After we were brought to the main room for free play. The main room had carpets and many toys to play with. I was concerned with the cleanliness of the toys as ya know, babies put everything in their mouth. I was assured they were clean, still I didn't let my daughter put her mouth on anything. As we sat there a man, presumably from the temple walked through the back doors through the room, I didn't like that. I'm sure it's fine, but being a first time mom I don't like a space that's shared for children's activities. We went back into the classroom for a story. After the story the session ended. We walked through the main room and an older group of kids were playing with the free play toys...they came in right after we went out so I don't like how they weren't cleaned in between or the dirty toys removed. At the time I wasn't sure what to think. Maybe all mommy and me's were like that and me as a first time mom was being too cautious, however after going to others, I have seen dirty toys being removed or teachers coming in with a bin asking parents, "if you have dirty toys please place them In this bin so we can wash them." I think that would have made a big difference for me. I forget how much this was for a quarter year session... 299 or 399? Either way it wasn't for us, but give it a try if you're ok with all the above. The teachers were very nice.

Some days she was extremely difficult for my wife in the morning and had to go to the program in her pjs. Mind you it was 3 hour sessions, three days a week. We had a teacher Ms. Diane who not only called my wife about this; she seemed annoyed and disgusted on the phone. One day she went ahead and called my wife in her seemingly annoyed tone stating "You need to have your kid evaluated." My wife replied with "she has been.. hence why she gets speech there twice a week". One day I picked up my daughter and overheard the teacher say to another teacher "I have to remind myself that these are not third and fourth graders... That's what I'm used to teaching". That's nice; then go back and teach those grades since you're not willing to be equipped to handle younger kids developing with speech, behavior issues, or possible occupational therapy being with needed. Speaking to some other parents whose kids were in my daughters particular class agreed that this teacher and this place should NEVER be allowed to take in any kids with an IEP of any kind. My daughter hated going there at such a young age. Let's fast forward a year to UPK in Island Trees school district; NIGHT AND DAY difference! My daughter's teachers were so amazing (Ms. Tina and Ms. Gabby to name a few) that we all were upset when the school year ended. Just goes to show you some teachers are amazing and some are not. I'm a civil servant and you either get someone on the phone that will do their job and assist anyone anytime or someone who just shows up to work.

To add to the silver lining, the communication from school to home is excellent, However, if your child has any kind of struggle - emotionally, behaviorally, academically, in reaching milestones - I'd highly recommend looking for another arrangement. At my request, my son was evaluated two months into the year and qualified for speech and occupational therapy. Both of these factors delayed his letter and number learning as well. His teacher had no patience for him whatsoever. I heard nothing but negative feedback from the beginning of the year, and did not see any attempts made to modify his classroom behavior, motivate him, or differentiate to meet his needs. There were no sticker charts offered, no modified, multi-sensory work to help with his delay in learning letters, no small, attainable goals set for him - there were just a series of complaints. It was only thanks to his wonderful service providers from outside the school that my son finally started to make progress toward the end of the year. Still, it didn't feel like enough, and, as my son started kindergarten, I was convinced he would have the same issues. Not so. Within a week, his teacher knew exactly what he needed, got him on a behavior chart, and I'm amazed that he's currently able to do so many of the things his preschool teacher insisted he just couldn't do - all he needed was the right teacher. It was a different world - one where my son actually felt motivated and capable, which he hadn't felt at Tendergarden at all. It's sad to me that an early childhood setting would do so little to help a child who just needed a little extra support, encouragement and love, but, sadly, that was my experience there. It is my hope that this may be limited to this one teacher, and perhaps the added stressors of teaching PreK during a pandemic, but, if you are concerned about your child, perhaps research other places where he or she may get more support. Preschool is supposed to be an enjoyable start to school, so I really hope no other children have the disappointing year that my child did.

I enrolled my kid to this center because I trusted the fact that this center expanded the business in this area quite successfully. However, when I toured the center, I was not very happy when I looked at the faces of kids and staff. They didn't look very happy nor enjoy their job. Furthermore, I realized that this place is too pricey compared to the other daycares in the neighborhood. So in the end, I decided to withdraw my kid's enrollment. I visited the center and explained why I made such a decision. At that time the staff promised me that I would get a check for the first month's tuition, because, at the time of enrollment, I have already paid $150 + first month's tuition ($1195). Again, the staff told me that I can get it back and the reason why she cannot give it right away is because she does not have the checkbook. The staff talked about bad things about the school to which I am switching, which sounded not nice, but I did not take it seriously. She also mentioned that there was a policy that I should have notified them 45 days in advance, strictly speaking. I notified them 30 before the first day of school. So I understood that and I greatly appreciated their kind considerations. BUT, I did not receive the check for a month, and I have sent an email to remind that. The response I got was simple enough, "No, you cannot get a check. The owner decided not to do that." WHAT?? They just ate up my $1195 because I was late for 15 days to notify them. I can totally understand if they take out part of that money, but I cannot understand that they took all of it. Even more importantly, in that response, the staff mentioned that the owner called me and explained the situation. NO!! It never happened. The owner did not give me a call and I did not know the situation before "I" asked them. I courteously replied back if there is any possibility for a partial refund and explained that I have never received a call from the owner. That was it! They never responded back to me. I cannot trust their business. It seems to me that they only take care of their profits and tries to get out of money as much as possible. They never considered me as a future family even though I could send my kids to their summer camps or after-school care. I pass the center every morning and afternoon and see a lot of cars in there. Every time, I get very annoyed by their attitude to me, and I will never consider this place as one of my future childcare.

I enjoy waking up in the morning knowing that I am going to be surrounded by all of the children who are active learners and my colleagues who have become part of my family; The Greentrees Family. Our school coordinates so many fun things throughout the school year as well as during the summer camp months! As much as possible we photograph the activities and share with all the parents. I think it's great how there are different themes throughout the school year with emphasis on important health, science, safety, and community topics and more. The staff are warm, friendly, patient and professional and they seem very well versed in early childhood development and education. The drop off and pick up are well organized. My son has been in the daycare program of this school since he was 3 months old. He is currently 2…read moreyears old and I am beyond pleased with his progress over the years. From 3 months to 15 months he was in the infant room with excellent care givers who took care of him as if he was their own. They did artwork with him, which always adorn my fridge. The room was clean and bright and fun! He had his own crib. I had to provide my own sheets and blanket but it was more than a cheesy bassinet, there were gorgeous wood cribs. He had his own cubby and contain/space in the fridge. When it was time for him to move to the toddler room they transitioned him to make him comfortable. But in his new "big boy" room he really blossomed. They to amazing things with these kids. He goes to gym, computer class, out door recreation, they have circle time, reading time, music class, and so much more. They have their own nap pads which are comfortable and a crib sheet fits them nicely. He again has his own space is in the fridge and a toddler size table where the kids eat their meals together. They work on colors, letters, numbers, vocabulary, and developing their fine motor skills, gross motor Skills, language levels, social development, and more. As a facility that also has the capability of providing Early Intervention they provide me with quarterly evaluations as part of their program. It's a great way to learn more about your child hitting milestones. They have their own sink and bathroom in the room and are more than glad to work with you to potty train, my son is eager to use the potty as a result of the expose he gets to older children at school and the staffs intuitiveness to sense he was ready and to work with him each day to learn to use the potty seat. They are working with my son to develop his skills to use utensils and a regular cup. He comes home every day smarter and happier than the last. I thank each amazing staff member for VCLC each day for their kindness to my child and I, and that each one of them is dedicated to the well being of my son. The pricing is reasonable, the location is a leased elementary school which means it's totally geared towards small children. I do have to provide my own food, which not only saves money, but I know that he is eating good for each day not typical easy toddler food (pizza, mac n cheese, chicken nuggets). Their security is phenomenal. You have to show your family pass before being buzzed into the building. The class sizes are small, and the rooms are colorful and fun and filled with educational toys and decor. He still comes home with fun projects each day and larger projects every so often.
