As a first time parent of a 7 month old during the height of Covid, needless to say, I was a bit nervous about sending my son to day care, on top of the fact that I was dreading not getting to spend every day with him; but working from home while taking care of him was no longer possible. The first few weeks were hard (mostly for me), but the teachers and staff at Shalom made the transition process seamless. After 10 months at Shalom, I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. The safety precautions they have in place ease my mind each day when I drop Jack off; and the joyful squeal of "school" or "April" (his teacher's name) as we pull up in front of the building lets me know how much Jack enjoys his days there. His teachers have taught him to say "more" in sign language, to draw and paint, to sing and dance to a variety of kids songs, and to play nicely with his friends. Shalom is a warm and caring environment - from the top down. The Directors, Michele and Providence, are warm and welcoming and clearly care about all of the Shalom families. Not only do they run the school incredibly well, but they have given me parenting tips. Our daughter just started at Shalom Day Care Center for the summer program and we literally couldn't be any happier! From the moment we met the staff at their spring open house we knew this was the place for us. We left our old provider to come to Shalom and have never looked back. Every day we walk into the building we're greeted by smiling faces from staff members, teachers, and parents (and even the kids!). Everyone just seems to be happy at Shalom. They're taking such great care of my daughter and I know she's in good hands. There are so many eyes on her and people checking in that I know she's being taken care of. I can also call whenever I need to to check in and no one makes me feel bad about it. Her teachers take time to talk to me in the morning and afternoon about her day and provide me with valuable information about how she's acting and what she's learning/doing. She comes home every day and can't stop talking about what she did with her teachers and peers that day (she NEVER did this at her other school). Shalom Day Care is THE BEST! Our two boys go to Shalom (Pre-K and Infant programs) and we are delighted with the teaching staff, the administration and the overall sense of community at Shalom. Our older son first began at Shalom as a 2 year old, and as a first-time mom, I was nervous to send my little one to daycare. The wonderful, kind, and reassuring administration and staff put my mind at ease immediately. I knew that my child was being well cared for and that he was learning every day. Now at 4 years old, I have no doubt that he will be ready for kindergarten next year! Our younger son started at Shalom when he was 5 months old, and he has already learned so much from his baby peers and teachers. Shalom Day Care is a safe, curriculum focused, creative, learning environment. They offer great art projects, music sing-a-longs, yoga, time spent outside, as well as beginning academics to help the kids get introduced to school routines. I would never want to send my children anywhere else! I instantly knew it was the best choice by the way I felt when we were there. As an educator myself, I highly recommend this top notch daycare!
