The congregation was friendly, and I really enjoyed learning about God's word. I thought I had found my church. However I will continue to search for a spiritual home. Today's sermon with pastor Jim Nicodem was upsetting as he went on about his political views. Not fact but his opinion. He did this one other time and I decided to let that go. Begin with a large worship band leading in songs and reading Scripture. Followed by a sermon by Pastor Rich Wollard. Services are available in-person or on-line. Join a small group Bible Study. About a half dozen people in a group meet in homes or out for coffee (Panera). Teens meet once a week with Thrive. A devotional, breakout into small groups to talk and pray, games, & snacks. Friendly group of believers who love the Lord and love to serve others.

The leaders of the church are wise, kind, have integrity, and most importantly, they teach what's in the Bible. In addition, the other staff couldn't be better people. They go above and beyond in showing love and support. They are very transparent about important church topics like the direction of the church and the budget, and I think the more transparency there is, the better. It's honestly embarrassing I spent so much time with them and I feel defeated. So I feel it is my fiduciary duty, to warn any queer people thinking about attending here that you will not be safe or affirmed. This church will not have your back in the end. I spent the better part of the last decade trying to work with them, only to have the leadership that seemed to be receptive to me forced out, one after the other. And let's not even start about the financial situation of this church, which is a mess and has been their cardinal sin for decades now as their numbers continue to dwindle due to financial mismanagement and many other things. It's sad to have to write this about a place that had at one point been a very significant part of my life. But sometimes, you just can't go home again. I find spending Sunday mornings at home playing cozy games or going to gay brunch much more spirit filled than church, anyway.

I was so impressed by the Pastor Josh, his wife Lisa and church that I became a member. The volunteers are always helpful and smiling! I was born and raised Catholic and always had questions no one could really answer... so I always felt lost. When I found Lakeland Community Church, I felt like I was "home"! I get so much out of the weekly sermons. I frequently feel like the message was "directed and meant just for me and where I'm at in my life." I look so forward to every Sunday message. I must not be alone, since the church has grown and they are constantly expanding. There are small groups you can join that will help strengthen your journey in life and your relationship with Jesus. Recently, they opened up a Lakeland play land/park which is 5000 ft.² for children to play, all free and open to the community. During spring break, the Playland was so busy with children and their families that it hit capacity several times. So I would say that Lakeland's Playland is a huge hit with the church and the local communities!! My Grandson (7y) has given it a huge "thumb up"!! The head pastor is kind but for some reason decides who is saved and who isn't in his sermons which is not what Jesus taught. Maybe he's changed but I've noticed the out of context messages has spread to their bible studies and members. Our focus as believers is not the law but Jesus. Beautiful building though.
