Ordered a pizza with veggies which were amazing and another with meatballs and olives (small bites). Both equally good. Our server at the bar was on it! She did not let us ask for anything. She kept our drinks filled and served our pizza. Great experience here and I know why it was so crowded.

Our group of friends ordered our entire meal at once and had just received our appetizers when a staff member abruptly came to our table and, in a very rude and confrontational manner, told us to "be quiet" because we were being too loud. We understand that restaurants have to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all guests, and if our volume had become an issue, a polite and discreet request would have been completely appropriate. Instead, we felt embarrassed and scolded. The interaction left us so uncomfortable that one member of our party immediately asked for the check and told them we would be leaving before our entrées were even served. Rather than apologizing, showing any empathy, or attempting to salvage the situation, the staff simply brought the bill, set it on the table, and walked away. What was most disappointing wasn't being asked to lower our voices--it was how we were treated afterward. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome, even when an awkward situation arises. There was no apology, no acknowledgment that the interaction could have been handled better, and no effort whatsoever to make things right. Given the restaurant's reputation, we expected exceptional food paired with exceptional hospitality. Sadly, while we may never know how the main course would have been, the service ensured we won't be returning.

Honestly, haven't had a hoagie that good in years. We also had their pasta salad, equally delicious. Plenty of seating inside, with a lot of cool photos on the walls. It felt just like being home. My wife and I lived in Northern Virginia for many years. There are hundreds of 'italian' restaurants to pick from in and around Washington DC. None - not one - can compete with Falcone's for being true to the quality and authenticity of a small Italian family restaurant. Falcone's is does not put on airs or carry any pretense of being a fancy Italian restaurant - it is run by honest, hard-working folks who know how to prepare every dish by hand from memory. The pizza has been perfection every time we've ordered carry-out or dined in. NY/NJ-style pizza pie. The crust is hand-tossed and baked to the perfect amount of char. It has the right amount of 'bite' without being too doughy or too bready. On our most recent visit (07/12/14), we dined in. We were greeted promptly and seated near the back. We ordered our entrees a few minutes later. The seafood combo and a personal hawaiian pizza. (I know, not exactly 'italian', but...) About 10-15min later our meals arrived. The pizza for my wife, the seafood for myself. The pizza was as described above. The seafood combo - well - the seafood combo was a beautiful mountain of fresh clams, shrimp, mussels, and calamari. The linguine it rested on was spot-on al-dente. The marinara tasted of freshness. Rich without overpowering the flavors of the seafood. I dipped in for the calamari first since the plate would sail or fail on the quality of the cook on the calamari. The dish sailed. The calamari rings were cooked without being taken to the rubber-band status so often found in other restaurants. The other bivalves in the dish were plump and tasty (fresh). The tail-on shrimps were maybe slightly over-cooked but not significant enough to dent the overall satisfaction with this entree. We've been frequenting Falcone's for a while now. Going every few months or so. The food is always right, the prices are reasonable for the quantity/quality, and we have never been disappointed in our selections. read more

The crust was much doughier than I expected, and I found myself wishing there was more sauce and more of the whole peeled tomatoes to balance everything out. The Italian sausage had good flavor, but the pizza as a whole felt a little too bread-heavy for my taste. That said, I don't want to judge the entire restaurant based on one pizza. Looking at the menu, they have a lot of different specialty pies, and it's very possible I just didn't order the one that best represents what they do. Overall, I'd give Gondolfo's Pizza 3/5 stars. The service was friendly and welcoming, but the Crostata didn't quite hit the mark for me. I would still recommend giving the restaurant a try, and I'd be interested in coming back to sample some of their other pizzas before making a final judgment.
