One and Done! Really, really wanted this to be our place living nearby. We get pizza about 6 times a month and have tried many local places to decide so far. Very convenient, sauce is good, but that's it. Run by "youthful pizza-makers" who do not care about quality or consistency. I am not a fan of the thin crust which is not crispy or chewy... not sure if trying to be New Haven, Tavern, NY or Detroit? Anyway, aside from being a slight step above a better brand supermarket pizza; our's was literally almost all red in color. No, we didn't ask for a Vegan special / no cheese pie, but what else could explain the extremely sparse amount of cheese!? Also, the price for toppings is insane. Pizza's are $30+. Za Pie is one of the best pizzas I have had in the Carolina / Kure Beach area. Technically it is OTB (over the bridge) but it's not that far away and you have to pass it on the way into town. This new pizza place doesn't have indoor seating, but it does have outdoor seating as well as takeout and soon delivery. I tried the cheesy bread, pepperoni pinwheels, caprese salad, 14-in cheese pizza, and a skillet 14 in cheese pizza. Everything was great for the most part. I would get everything again, except maybe the salad. The cheesy bread and pepperoni pinwheels automatically come with chunky marinara sauce. They both are the same price but seems like you get more cheesy bread compared to pepperoni pinwheels. The marinara sauce was full of flavor. The only food I wasn't too impressed by was the caprese salad. The salad was okay. I wasn't expecting the fresh mozzarella to be cut in small rectangles. I would have preferred fresh small mozzarella balls or the fresh mozzarella cut in bigger slices. The salad could feed two to four people as a side, depending how much side salad each person eats. Both of the pizzas were crispy. I liked how they didn't leave too much crust so they gave you the most sauce and cheese as they could. A 14-in size pizza could probably feed about three people. I wasn't sure what to expect with the skillet pizza. The staff described it as a deep dish but that wasn't it at all. I would say the skillet pizza is more of a thin crust pizza, about half an inch thick. The regular "traditional" pizza was about 1/4 in thick. The skillet pizza also had more crusty edges, herbs, and was over $3 more. For both 14 inch pizzas, it cost $2.75 to add a topping or over $5 to add a premium topping. If you're looking for more flavor in the pizza and a slightly more filling pizza, then the skillet pizza might be worth getting. This pizza place is worth giving a shot, as long as you don't mind spending a little bit extra money than your normal pizzeria. read more

The calzone was pretty good, the marinara is very chunky, which I'm not a fan, but the calzone was good without it, BUT all the toppings ended up in one half. This place has been all the rave for the last month so I had to try it. Ordered delivery and it took about 2 hours but the pizza was still hot. One super unfortunate thing about the experience is it looks like the pizza either got turned over or someone set something on the box and it took off a lot of the cheese as you can see in the picture.
