Can certainly count on my hand the number of times I have been inside the mall since 2019. However, sometimes it is good to just walk around (when there are very few people around). :o) Wanted to purchase a few items from Bath and Body Works and actually enjoyed the quiet; the mall is still nice and clean; good choice of food items in the food court; quite a few new stores since the last time I visited inside the mall. On a different note, except for going to AMC and Belk every now and then, not sure what caused the downfall of the Tallahassee Mall, which I really liked at one point. :-(

Here during daylight hours, the shopping center was in good shape with no obvious vacancies. Restaurants, professional offices, a seafood/oriental market, Dollar Tree and county offices. I'm not sure if the tire shop and fast food joints are actually in the shopping center or adjacent but they're easy to access. The buildings had a clean appearance. The parking lot had no potholes though some of the parking stripes could use a refresh. There are streetlights here but they don't operate in the daytime. It's been a great marriage ever since. There's a branch library, community center and a Tax Collector/Tag/Driver License office. There's a Starbucks on the perimeter. A fitness center, nails, massage and a church. Country Kitchen is there too. The former Asian take out place will soon be a Mexican restaurant. I keep hoping that the remaining empty spaces will become more restaurants but we shall see. The parking lot is a relatively easy in and out and there is plenty of parking. There is a Taltran bus stop with cover and a flex bus option is available to get you to this hub. You just have to call them in advance to schedule a ride. For those taking the driving test there is a marked parking space that sees a lot of drivers practicing.

Saturday evening a girlfriend and I decided to try out Bannerman Crossings.....specifically the…read morecluster of restaurants that includes Blu Halo, Mom & Dads Italian, and Dao Restaurant. We hadn't been to the center before but thought it might be fun to bounce around between the three restaurants. Upon our arrival at the restaurant loop we actually encountered what would turn out to be the low point of the evening, the valet service. When I stopped the vehicle I kind of expected the attendant to come up to the vehicle, get the door and give me my stub. Perhaps the attendants was tired, but he was slouched against the stand and kind of waited for us to get out of the vehicle before doing anything......at which point I had already halfway walked to him. Rather than handing me a ticket, he said that if I gave him $5 (for the complimentary service) he would give us faster service and keep the car closer. It seemed a little odd to me since I hadn't asked for any kind of special treatment and seemed more like a gimmick for him to get $5. I asked if it would take a long time if I just got a ticket and didn't pay $5 and he replied something along the lines of "I'll still valet you for free, the $5 was just so we would take good care of you". At this point I was pretty put off and took the ticket and we walked to Blue Halo. I didn't recognize the attendants uniform so I don't think it was the company that handles most of the places I go in Tallahassee so maybe it was a new valet company or an in-house operation. Regardless it was an annoying way to start the evening. Now for the good.....Blue Halo. We loved the interior.....it had a very trendy vibe that was fairly unique for Tallahassee. We were quickly seated and our server was quick to take our drink order. I ordered a cosmo which was made perfectly. We decided to share a filet entree, medium rare, which was just fantastic....perfectly cooked. The service was great and the manager even took the time to check on us. We wanted to move on to the next place so we didn't stay too long....maybe 45 minutes but the experiece was good and helped remove some of the sour tastes we had experienced outside when we arrived at the valet. Next up, we stopped at Dao. Admittedly we were already a little full from the filet at Blu Halo so we ended up just having an app and share a bottle of sake. We shared the Gyoza dumplings which were pretty good and came out pretty quick. I apologize for not knowing the brand of cold sake we shared but the server again brought it out in a timely manner and it was well chilled and served. The decor or maybe more specifically the layout of the restaurant might have left a tad to be desired. Nothing wrong with it, just a little wide open.....nothing out of the ordinary. By the time we finished our sake we were a little full and tired so we unfortunately didn't have the energy to complete our mission and try Mom and Dads....we will have to try them another day. The attendant wasn't at the stand when we came out side, but after a couple minutes he arrived, quietly took the ticket and came back about 5 minutes later with the vehicle. With the way things were handled upon arrival I wasn't terribly surprised that he walked away without shutting the door (after tipping him). So I would have to say that we were quite happy with both Blu Halo and Dao's......if you visit, you might want to save the aggravation of the valet and just self park a little further away.

I've never been to the Tallahassee Flea Market but have driven past it many times without having the time to stop. I am glad I finally got to check it out, spending time perusing the mix of items for sale including baby bunny rabbits, automotive tires, antiques, clothing, shoes, housewares and more all while munching on exotic lychee fruits! Sweet! So what's not to like? So on a morning when the Flea Market should have been sprawling with vendors and customers, it was instead rather sparse on both accounts. There were way more empty vendor tables and stalls than there were occupied. Most of the vendors seemed to be long term Flea Market regulars that are like permanent fixtures there. So as I walked the entire Flea Market I wondered why there aren't more vendors, and hence probably more customers... I would return if I was looking for an "off the wall find." I did make some fresh vegetable purchases before leaving.

This isn't your typical Nole or Rattler gear. It's a little quirky and fun and sometimes the shirts and tank tops have crass and profane sayings on them, but they're really cool alternatives. The store itself is organized pretty well. They also sell a variety of sunglasses and other clothing like a regular boutique. They have quite the selection of vintage pieces and home decor too! The people working there always are very friendly and seem willing to help. I hope they eventually have some sort of sale so I have an excuse to browse in there without feeling awful for not buying anything. Prices can be a little steep but I assume that's because they hand print a good amount of their tops.

I have passed by many times however today was the first time I actually had time to check it out. Many different casual/dressy/athletic outfits. They also sell some accessories and have an area that has a lot of Florida teams/schools. The ladies were very attentive, helpful and friendly. I was able to take my time browsing. They have two spacious fitting rooms, they also informed me that they will be getting new items next month which is great. I found a cute top and dress which I wasn't even expecting but they were on sale! I will definitely be back here soon!
