Things certainly have changed in regard to mall traffic; I have never really been a fan of going to the mall and usually just stuck with the "outside department stores" that had separate entrances (Macy's, Dillards, Penneys). Can certainly count on my hand the number of times I have been inside the mall since 2019. However, sometimes it is good to just walk around (when there are very few people around). :o) Wanted to purchase a few items from Bath and Body Works and actually enjoyed the quiet; the mall is still nice and clean; good choice of food items in the food court; quite a few new stores since the last time I visited inside the mall. On a different note, except for going to AMC and Belk every now and then, not sure what caused the downfall of the Tallahassee Mall, which I really liked at one point. :-( read more

I mean, it's a mall? The only one in Tallahassee at that... I think. Two floors tall. A few department stores like JCPenney and Macy's. There's nothing high class like Nordstrom or Saks Fifth Avenue, unless we are talking about the variety of jewelry stores present. Typical chains aplenty. Express, Victoria's Secret, Gap... you get the idea. Definitely something that gets you what you need, but this by all means isn't a shopping mecca. For that, it may be best to drive south to Orlando. Just saying. read more

Governor's Square fools you a bit from the outside. But go ahead and step inside, and the place is super clean and nice. Truly one of the nicer malls I've ever been to. The tile on the floor looks great. I went on Monday afternoon and it had a healthy amount of traffic. Id recommend this mall to anyone within an hour radius. read more

We're from out of town, a lot smaller town with a lot smaller mall, so this one was really nice. It had a nice variety of stores and looked clean & like a nice place to walk around, being 2 stories. We came here to go check out the place Bounce World. It was only $10 for an hour of playtime and they had a variety of things to do for the different ages. Pics posted below. Went to Governor's Square Mall to reminisce a bit about it's Grand opening in 1979 and also Robby's Sporting Goods. I worked at Robby's for several years before they sold out to Champs'. The mall used to have quality stores but that has significantly changed. I hate to use the term 'junk' stores but that is a lot of what is there now. Even Dillard's and Macy's have lost their 'luster'. Don't want to keep 'ranting'. Just too sad. read more

This is a pretty wholly average mall. I honestly wouldn't go there by choice, but I pretty much have to if I want to go to any stores where I sometimes purchase clothes for work like The Limited. I could buy things online, of course, but sometimes it's best to try on items in store. The mall itself isn't really large. It's also not new. There are pretty much no happening stores or virtually any upscale ones like Saks or Nordstrom. Sigh. I feel like a total snob for saying that but it would be nice to have better options around the area. This is like the mall in Port Saint Lucie which is...lame. That's pretty much the closest equivalent I can think of off the top of my head. I do like the Sephora and the JC Penney Sephora here. The food court is always packed but I can never understand why because mall food is objectively terrible. Ultimately, I'm only coming here out of sheer desperation. Governor's Square Mall is home to my childhood. 17 years of my life, I've come here so many times I had no idea what another mall was like (ok, also because this was really the only shopping mall in Tallahassee). Governor's Square is slowly becoming more and more sophisticated. When I was younger, this mall satisfied my needs with the usual stores, American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, Aeropostale, and etc. They all happen to be standing still, as grade schoolers flock to these shops religiously. Now there are some updated and more popular shops that I didn't expect to see in Governor's Square to join the OG ranks. I knew Governor's hit it big when it got a Sephora. The food court is your typical food court, with my favorite stands being the Cajun Cafe and the Chickfila. It was sad when they took down Tropical Smoothie, which is one of my other regular stops. Rumor has it the rising rent costs in the food court are becoming insane. So support your food court shops because you're their only hope! I wonder if they're ever going to reopen Tallahassee Mall. That would be interesting (and a mistake). read more

For years now, the only true mall to get your shopping done in Tallahassee (if you live here you know what I'm talking about). Hence, this is where you can find all of the major department stores, i.e. Macy's, Dillard's, etc. and a mix of more affordable options like H&M and Gap. For FSU fanatics, visit the Garnet and Gold store for all your Seminole gear essentials. There's a large food court, equipped with a Starbucks, and even a Regal Cinemas movie theater located at the northwest end of the mall. There's actually an abundance of parking, including a garage for Dillard's shoppers. However, the main reason why I'm sealing four stars for Governor's Square comes down to the refined updates the mall is currently receiving. Looking forward to see what else they have in store for TLH's last resort. read more

For our state capital, this is kind of an embarrassment. I mean, it has all the things a college town needs, but what about anything higher end? Where do people shop? Down each end is an anchor that looked pretty quiet, with most of the movement in the middle part of the mall. Some cute stores for the younger crowd, Francesca's, a place called Flirt, the basics like Abercrombie and Am Eagle. Just nothing that 'wows' you or draws you to the window. There is a Sephora and a Starbucks, so all Was not lost and I ended up doing some damage anyway! :-) read more

This mall is pretty disappointing, it's an older mall with a weird collection of stores. It's got some good basics like Forever 21, Express and Victoria Secret. I wish they would update the stores braise it's a good sized mall. Definitely not my South Florida shopping. read more

Limited hours but with a good store selection given the size (small). I swear the food court takes up at least 30% of the space, plus there is a Starbucks directly adjacent so that ups it to about 40%. That's how math works y'all. They've got my favorite selections: H&M, Banana Republic, Aldo... Which is nice. However, the stores and the mall don't always have same hours. Which is NOT nice. read more

If you want a mall shopping experience, this is pretty much your only option here in Tallahassee. Luckily, they have some pretty good stores. A few of my favorites are H&M, Loft, Forever 21, Aldo, Dillards, ect. Although the store selection is not huge, you can usually find what you are looking for here. The food court is well filled with delicious spots to eat, so you can enjoy some food while you are shopping. There is a movie theater "at Governor's Square" but you can not get to it through the mall. You have to go into a separate parking lot, but it is right nearby! Take it or leave it, this is the only big mall experience you will find in Tallahassee. read more

As far as a mall goes in Tallahassee, unless you're trying to go to the Burlington Coat Factory, this is the mall you are going to be shopping in. All the major chain stores are here and in the surrounding area like Old navy, Bed bath and Beyond, Marshalls. Inside the mall there is clothes for all tastes and prices. Payless to Aldo to Dillards for shoes, Forever 21 to Express to things like Ann Taylor and Banan Republic. All the department stores and things like that are here, good food court with healthy options. If you're not going to be shopping locally, this is where you are coming for clothes. read more

Well for this being the only REAL mall in Tallahassee it is pretty good. The stores are average, which means it is hard to find anything unique in Tally.... Fav stores Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal. Traffic, etc Bad Stores Toy Store, Shoe store in the upper level, Dollar store?? Most of the people that work for the mall like the attendants and security guards are all super nice and helpful! It is kept pretty clean. It just gets a little messy and crowded in the food court. But the places in the food court are all good. There is a Tropical Smoothie, McAllisters, a spanish/chinese place, a Taco place, DQ, Cookie place, Chik Fil A, 2 Chinese places, Sbarro, and Buffalo Wings and CO. All of the food is good and workers are usually pretty nice! There are a lot of kiosks in the mall for cell phone accessories, sandals, jewelry, phones, hair products, pictures, etc. Overall, it is a good mall. Simple with your average depart stores and shopping needs but a good place for Tallahassee shopping! read more

The best thing Governor's Square has going for it these days is the fire that "The Centre" is lighting underneath its posterior. Clearly, any sprucing up and updating in general is occurring because the good folks tinkering with the heretofore nightmarish Tallahassee Mall are dumping some serious dollars into making their mall the destination (The "Centre") of choice. Governor's Square is at the precipice of relevance in many respects, given the increasing number of no-name outlets propping up both upstairs and downstairs. Just one look at the directory (http://www.governorssquare.com/directory) reveals that the glory-days of mallhood are behind us. Perhaps they will be ahead as well. All this said, I like the Governor's Square mall. the lighting is perfect. Replacing the water pond/fountain with additional usable square footage was sensible. Having charging stations with USB is great. The food court has a fair selection. I'm pulling for Governor's Square. I want it to succeed. One obstacle it will have is dealing with its sprawl. "The Centre" has the AMC20 RIGHT THERE. that means that when folks are coming from all over to go see a movie, they can witness first-hand a thriving mall. 3* as compared to malls everywhere, but the best mall in Tallahassee by a long shot, as Tallahassee Mall is not worth your time if you are going to shop. Governor's Square has some good stores--Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, Victoria's Secret, MAC, Sephora, Pandora, etc., as well as the department stores, but does not have most of the store you'd expect in a good mall. This mall has greatly declined over the years with regards to the type of stores it offers. Only a few good ones left and a lot of empty stores. What the heck is going on??? As other people said it's embarrassing that this is basically the only mall in the capital of Florida! Well it's not even the mall that's embarrassing, it's this entire town! Anyways, though the mall is small it does hold some decent stores in it. This used to be the only good mall in town, but now there is no good mall in town. Because they are renovating the "old mall" that will be the new spot to go to... Eventually. Yes, the mall recently added an H&M and are redoing a few of the stores, but it has also added a convenience store* (seriously?) on the second story, a barbershop, at least 4 different foot locker options, a discount FSU apparel store and a ton of other less expensive stores that continue to cheapen the entire mall. read more

As of now, this is really the only mall in Tallahassee. It's not horrible, but not great either. I'm just glad they have a play area for the kiddos (on 1st floor next to Macy's) and a Chick-fil-a in the food court. When the weather is bad my 2-year old and I can spend a couple hours in here. They have plenty of seating in the food court with a variety of options, including a Starbucks. The mall is not big and they have an okay variety of stores. If my son didn't hate shopping, maybe I could even go in the stores once in a while, hehe. read more

Dissapointing to shop at some of these stores. Ok, while this is a very pretty mall, if has great appeal and welcoming. Nice stores from the outside, but oh my!! Going into some if the stores, not for me. So disappointing macys , jc penny's . What a dissapointment. It can just about give the aooearsnce of upscale consignment store except bigger area. I went to shop, and every section I was in had there clearance racks look in disray at macys. The help was not very friendly or helpful. Went to jc penny's and had the same outcome. Clothes appeared like they had sat on racks for months. Workers in their own world. Cosmetic depth was pretty nice. After in and out of these 2 stores I just had to leave the mall. I did purchase a shirt at macys. No help to customer that was going to purchase some items. They just left the merchandise and walked away.l, unknown the inquiries, but appeared from standing on the line c waiting to be checked out, cashier was not very helpful. This is macys , good customer service is expected. Don't thing IL be this macys favorite shopper. Plz, do some justice to this store. Governors square mall = basically the only mall in town=you have no choice but to shop here. This mall is okay, just the bare minimum basic stores for all ages. But I am from Miami so that might be why I find this place a bare minimum basic mall. read more
