We recently started taking our boys here. I think they do a great job for a better price than the place we had been taking them to for years. The shop itself is in an older shopping area (behind the 7 eleven) and is easy to miss. Look for the sign on the street. Inside is okay... it's a barber shop! Looks like one! If you want pretty go to a women's salon and get your nails done while you're there! For the guys who aren't so concerned with interior decorating and just want a good hair cut for a good price try this place. It did not smell like cigarettes to me, I would not like that being I bring my boys here. I also love that it is family operated. read more

1st off just wanted to thank Jason & Staff of 11yrs of svc. now. I can count on 1 hand how many times I broke down & tried getting a haircut somewhere else & felt stupid.... I moved to Stockton 3yrs ago & still continued to go out of my way to give Jason my business. Sadly not only the drive back & fourth & Family Barber Shop only allowing walk in 1st come 1st serve. I respect a persons decision to run their business as they see fit. Not only have I been a loyal client, I work 50 to 70hr work weeks as a Tow Operator & getting in simply so hard & no appointments or an apology to a waiting client of my situation & long term business. After 2 attempts to get in. 7 weeks no haircut. I was ready to shave myself but insist on my flat top. I had to try something else. I broke down & tried a local shop in Stockton. "MYS Barber Shop" off Pacific. Been there many years. 1 man chair & little clientele. Cuts & flat tops $9. Cash only so no debit fees. Full old school Barber Shop experience. Free hand military flat top. Does the straight razor on neck & side burns. Complete with old school shoulder & neck rub. Love ya Jason. Just don't have the time to wait often, in my busy schedule. I finally found someone very local saving me fuel $$$, Time & $4.50 per cut. And willing to set an appt. for regulars. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY Recommend Family Barber Shop. Just make sure to be patient. This is a great spot. I moved out this way a year 1/2 ago and struggled to find a good barber with good prices and just a good ol fashion barbershop feel. This is such an awesome shop for the kids too, the guys were super good and PATIENT to my 1.5 year old son. They tried so hard to get him to laugh and keep him distracted. He wasn't super happy about his first barber cut, but he sure seemed happy and proud of himself when they gave him a sucker afterwards. This place rocks for the whole family. read more

This barber shop is great! I took my son to get a haircut and brought along my 5 yr old daughter and 7 yr old lil boy I babysit. The wait was a little long but now I understand why and it's because it is totally worth it! My son sat with jason and I explained as good as I could (his dad normally takes him) what I wanted and he took it from there and did a freaking GREAT job. When he sat down rick called for the boy I watch and I said no I didn't bring him for a cut and besides that I didn't have enough money for him. He WOULD NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! He insisted that I let him cut his hair and told me don't worry about the money just get to it next time. I can't tell you how great that made me and the boy feel. They have great customer service, they are GREAT with kids, they aren't rude or stern with the kids (as they can move around allot) and have so much patience. They listened to everything I asked for and I had no complaints at all about how the cuts came out. This is totally the place to go! My wife and I have a 18 month old son and were in desperate need of a good barber... happy to say that we have found our spot! From our previous experiences with barbers it's been very unpredictable and the product has just never been where we were 100% satisfied . I can honestly say that's changed... our barber was/is Ricky... from the start he was approachable and easy to talk to as was the rest of the staff. Asked the standard questions "ok, what are we doing?" "What lengths?" ... I think he could tell that we didnt really know what we were looking for and Ricky just kind of took over.. thank God lol. During our conversation with him we found out that hes been cutting hair in manteca for 20+ years and his family for 5 generations have been doing the same. You can tell he along with his staff are true pros of thier craft and put thier heart into thier work. We've been here 3 times so far and each experience has been worth it. My son has been to two of the barbers and they're professional, fun, and you get your money worth. They take the time and make sure the fade is clean and not rushed. Lines are clean and no nicks. They talk family unlike another shop we tried where rap music was blasting with foul mouths running around small children. Sometimes there's a line, but it's worth the wait. Rick is awesome with the kids. I'm glad he stopped to say hi to us at a local restaurant and told us to come by. Otherwise I would have never checked this place out. read more

Anthony is also good, but he's not there a lot when we go, so Jason is the man! :) It's never too busy, unlike other places we have gone to and another plus, is that they accept debit cards in case you don't have the cash on you. I found them after attempting my usual stop in Lathrop only to learn they went out of business over night, frustrated I reluctantly attempted my luck Klassy Cuts where I was met with the usual attitude from the owners. A quick Google search landed me at Family Barbershop and NOW this is my new home for haircuts. They are friendly, passionate about their family operated business and have more than fair prices. Prices went up as of June 1st, 2014. Haircuts are now $11 plus 50-cent debit charge. This is still cheaper than many of the salons nearby, so you definitely get a great cut for how much you pay. I went on a Saturday morning and was helped immediately. Not sure this will be my go-to place, but it is a great back-up option. read more
