But he died, and when I went for my next appointment, I had his partner Scott Hodas. Hodas talked me into having my dentures relined, even though they fit well. He said they had to be relined every so many years and I was overdue. So I agreed to let him reline my dentures. BIG MISTAKE. Since the reline, I have to use denture adhesive twice a day, and my upper plate is not snug. I often find it difficult to talk. When I went for my six month cleaning, I wanted to talk to Dr. Hodas about this. He looked at the denture adhesive I brought along and said that's what the adhesive is for.

The office staff are professional, friendly and basically don't take crap with missed appointments or anything (they'll chuckle if they read this, they had to get hardcore on appointments with me about 5 years ago when I had a handful of last-minute cancels due to some repeated illnesses). Their cleanings are gentle, they've done same-day fillings and an extraction if needed for me and otherwise are just great. Anyway, went in today for my first cleaning since COVID-19 breakout. I have to say I was VERY impressed with their process and precautions. You wait in your car when you arrive for your appointment, call them to let them know you're there. They call you to come in, mask required, they do a temperature check and ask you to use their fancy hand sanitizer before you proceed to the exam room. They have a plexiglass divider hanging at the checkout station, and all employees wore masks and the hygienist & doc wore face shields as well. They did a great job keeping you away from other patients and it was very efficient considering. Highly recommend if you're nervous about a COVID-19 cleaning or other dental work.

No, but did they 30 years ago? no idea! I didn't feel properly informed for the cavity and was in for a rude surprise. I did ask what I should do to prepare ahead of time for the filling procedure... No mention of a needle. I got it done still, but they were dismissive of all my questions before and afterwards. Maybe I was drooling, or maybe they should have mentioned the dramatic details of the procedure, when they suggested I should get a filling, and then scheduled the filling . I know I'm a grown *ss adult, but damn. I switched my dentist right after this event.

Playing technician roulette, wondering who I would get and how rough would it be that day. It was a classic 'I hate the dentist' experience. Then, a friend of my mom's recommended Dr. Nowicki to her. She had her first visit and she told me right after that I would definitely want to go there too. So I decided to switch it up. Such a great decision. I can actually say I enjoy visiting the dentist now, because Dr. Nowicki and his team are not only great at what they do, but they are great people as well. From day one, I've felt very welcomed by Dr. Nowicki's office and similarly to Olive Garden, when you're there you feel like family (you really do). Every technician I've had has been very friendly and provided a great cleaning along with great care advice and answers to my questions. Not only that, but the team will take the time to help you out. During a regular cleaning visit, it was discovered I needed a minor filling. Instead of making me schedule something out, Dr. Nowicki went out of his way to squeeze in the minor filling right then and there for me. Lastly, I'd just like to elaborate on how kind doctor and his team are. I've had great conversations and I truly have received helpful care advice that was not previously provided by my old office or taken the time to be given. So it's the little things like that that let me know I've found my permanent dentist office while I live in the metro Detroit area.
