This place is SO rad!…read more Visiting my hometown this month, I am hearing about and discovering so many new cool independent businesses. The Electric Crocodile is THE best vintage store though - from clothing to games to decor to collectibles to keepsakes. This store is like a choose your own adventure through fabulousness. Mom and I stopped in last weekend, experiencing a fun, friendly staff and seeing so many deals on stylish clothes, potential home decor from past iconic eras, and just fun stuff. Some of what I saw - Garbage Pail Kids cards, Star Wars figurines, gems, 60's & 70's & 80's clothing pieces in great condition, and unique candlesticks and art. And an energetic cat is the unofficial store keeper. Can't wait to go back for a few hours soon to decide on what to purchase first!

"WOW -- WHAT a DIFFERENCE! CrocBuster Video!"…read more *FYI: I'm always on the lookout for stores in the CHA-area that sell "old-school" physical media, as I run a film series at a local arts center that relies on it for projection. I found CrocBuster purely through a fluke -- I asked Google for "dvd / video stores" near me (not expecting much of anything), but I was so pleasantly surprised -- This isn't a STORE, it's an EXPERIENCE! -- a virtual MAZE from one cool "fan-niche cubby hole" to another -- original Star Wars toys, all types of "retro kid stuff" that will bring back many a happy memory, as well as both new & used vinyl LPs, TONS of collectable VHS (Disney clamshells, etc.) and all kinds of tchotchkes and gewgaws you didn't even know existed. (The video online really doesn't do it justice -- you just have to experience it.) I had some old DVDs & VHS tapes in my car that I was hoping to unload (again, not expecting much), only to be so pleasantly surprised. The manager, Paul, turned my two boxes around in a hurry while I shopped. (Both Paul and his wife Michelle and all of the staff were very, very welcoming and helpful in a most genuine way. Michelle gave me a tour of their massive store.) I ended up using my $60 of credit (and then some!) ** Oh, prices are very reasonable, btw. Will definitely be back in the near future. Can't recommend enough -- check it out! *** p,s,: If you have a LARGE amount to trade, call ahead or contact them on Facebook to arrange a good time to bring it by. -- thx!

Top notch, knowledgeable service. Yes, you can find menswear more cheaply elsewhere, but I promise…read moreit won't fit as well or look as good. There's a vast spectrum for quality menswear and stores like this remind you why online, fast delivery, and cheap prices aren't always the best option. If you want it to be right the first time. Absolutely the best place to get a quality suit. They don't offer cheap one-time use priced suits…read moreand they don't have the insanely expensive top name brand designer suits either; what they do have is great suits for professionals and formal attire worth keeping for the next big event. The shop is small by department store standards, so they don't have everything in stock at all times, but they are more than happy to order something for you. I really love their custom shirt service; instead of being limited by what's on the shelf, why not pick the fabric from a HUGE selection of colors, patterns, and textures, then pick all the design features you want and have it tailor made to fit you. The options are nearly limitless! I have 4 of their custom shirts now, and while they were a fair bit more expensive than off the rack, I also chose super premium fabrics that look really great and are worth every penny. They also do custom made suits, but I haven't tried those since I've never needed a new suit and them not have anything I liked. They also have lots of accessories for your suit or tux from ties and cuff links to socks and shoes! You could walk in naked (although I don't recommend it) and walk out looking like a million bucks! They also have a corner of the shop with casual clothes too, but I haven't spent much time over there.

This is exactly what I was hoping for...I was praying to the clothes yelp gods that the 1 bad…read morereview was not a true reflection. I was in desperate need of a cute quality boutique...I'm from ATL; expecting chatt to disappoint on the quantity of boutiques...but hoping there is a hidden gem. I found it!!! Jeans, Free People, cute tops, dangling accessories weren't my style but the tops were on point! Spent a pretty penny because I lucked up & found several tops - even grabbed an random Jean brand from the small clearance rack (win - win situation!!)

I think I would have steered clear of this store had I read this review…read more(http://chattanooga.citysearch.com/review/41574075) prior to setting foot in it. But that's probably not true because Backstreet Betty's is the only place in Chattanooga that carries my favorite brands of jeans, and you can also happen upon the occasional cute top there--which is where my story begins. After making my cute top purchase, it sat in the bag for a couple weeks before I wore it one day for a total of probably six hours. When I was hand washing it, I noticed three small holes in the back. After seeing those, there was no question in my mind that I would be returning it immediately. (I was also disappointed b/c I really liked the top). So I got online to find their number and hours as it was a Sunday--that's when I found the above review and knew I was dealing with a company that apparently doesn't understand the value of excellent customer service. When I tried to take it back, I encountered the owner's daughter, who is always on the phone and hardly says "hello" when you walk in the store. And forget a "can I help you?" Anyhoo, I told her what happened , and she said it looked like my top snagged on something when I was wearing it. She explained that their return policy was within 7 days of purchase, so the only thing she could do was leave it for her mom to look at. You could tell she was real well versed in what to say in situations like these. It seems (and is obvious from the other review) this sort of thing has happened before to other (former) Backstreet Betty's shoppers. The owner got back with me a couple days later and reiterated that it looked like something had snagged my top. Then she launched into the difference between boutique and department store return policies--saying that boutiques are much more stringent. I told her that I am very familiar with the whole boutique experience and that I find the customer service in these establishments to usually be exemplary. It has to be in order to keep the customers coming back. Her next step was to explain that I had no proof-of-purchase, which is true as I don't hold onto receipts for things that I am definitely keeping/have worn, and she told me there is no way to know where I got the top as Dillard's carries the same line. She caught me--I was trying to pull a fast one on them! Give me a break. For a $50 top? I offered a copy of my credit card statement. After doing the math, she could have seen that what I charged was the same price as the holey top. Nevertheless, this wouldn't suffice for her either. All in all, nothing convinced her that she didn't want to lose a customer over a $50 top, even a customer that had just recently (before the holes) bought an expensive pair of jeans in her store. She tried to somehow turn this around to say that it was me doing this over $50. Not really sure what that was supposed to mean--I guess that I'm losing a store over the $50 top?? It's their loss, not mine. After that, I just let her know that I was done with Backstreet Betty's and would be adding to the negative review already posted about them online. She told me not to threaten her and that she could do the same thing to me. Whatever that means! And it's not a threat--just a fact. So here is the review as promised. If you want to hit a boutique in Chattanooga, skip Backstreet Betty's and check out Susanna's. And yes, the customer service there is what it should be and beyond.
