Every time we stayed in Saco, we went there. I had just finished my wonderful trip in Bar Harbor and we found Renys coming home . It's in Ellsworth and we saw it on the way in. It's a good 30 minutes from Bar Harbor. We wanted to come before but when you are doing Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor, you don't have much time. I am glad I came to see it. It is a big store, clean, and they have a great assortment of shoes, clothes, accessories. Always good prices. I wish I had more time, they were closing in 30 minutes. But I got to look around and remember the good old days of shopping in Renys. When in Maine, you have to come. It's a local store, only found in this state and it's truly fun to shop.

You might be able to get items for cheaper if you follow sales, but when you can't find items at other stores, Reny's usually has it. When you're there, go to the spices and seasonings area and buy the Camp Mix. Camp Mix is a salt/Garlic/pepper seasoning that is great for meats, eggs, pasta and Bloody Mary's. The honey/cinnamon is perfect for oatmeal and toast. The Spud flavor is wonderful on pork and chicken. The staff is always helpful and pleasant.

The prices on the items are normal retail prices and each rack will have the percentage off above it. Most of the clothes are 30% off the retail prices. If you look, you may find a rack with 50% off or more and they have specials on items they are looking to move. We have the LLBean MasterCard so we have points and can use the points at the store. That makes for some great shopping. Staff is always helpful.

However, I decided to drive by one last time at noon today on my way back to Boston and THERE WAS A HINT OF LIGHT. I parked, I ran-walked-skipped, and I barged right through those doors thinking to run into either Loren or Shawn. But nay, I was instead greeted by a sweet elderly lady with bright eyes surprised by the sudden intrusion of some random excited Asian dude. "Oh sorry, I'm not really open yet. I hope you don't mind the mess." "ME DON'T CARE." Sasquatch-wannabe-tourist gleefully responds. I came to find out shortly that it was Loren's mom, Grace, and she was definitely a delightful way to end my trip this year. You see, I came to really like this shop last year when I got to extensively talk to both Loren and Shawn during several visits to the shop because they were so fun to banter with. Not only did I receive local tips to the area, I came to really appreciate what they have done here over time through their little business. Their gift bags are printed with Loren's photography and Shawn's paintings! Truly beautiful and different from the other stores in the area.
