My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this store on our way into Bar Harbor, and now our wallets are hurting. We absolutely loved this store, and I could have stayed here for HOURS! Some reviews said they didn't have great deals/discounts/a ton of product, but I found the opposite (maybe because we were the only tourists crazy enough to come up to Bar Harbor in February?). They had tons of coats in all sizes, tons of different Bean Boots and other footwear options, a variety of accessories from winter gear to water bottles, and even bedding and pet products! My boyfriend got a green 2 layer ski coat 60% off that he wore hiking the next day and had to take off he was sweating so much! We both bought a pair of unlined Bean Boots for 60$ each (YOU WILL BE SHOCKED HOW MUCH YOU SIZE DOWN! I am usually a 9.5 and bought a 7 (no half sizes)) and while we were a little concerned about being cold, the Bean socks we bought kept our toes nice and cozy! I also bought a zip up fleece for a great deal as well. I could definitely see this store getting picked dry in summer months, but in February they were overflowing with stock and great deals! Wish I could come back every week! (But my wallet sure doesn't)

If you've ever felt guilty about a frivolous return, DON'T. This store is living proof that LL Bean makes a business out of your returns. Imagine this as a Goodwill store for Yuppies. Tucked into a plaza next to a Rent-A-Center, this is the down and dirtier side of those"teal," "heather grey," and "cornflower blue," returns that you've sat on for two and a half years. Here's where once popular products come to die, or at least be sold off at 70%. For the bargain hunter, this may not be your place. In the sense that there aren't great bargains, but instead this store just brings the price down to what it should be. Like that scene in "Falling Down," "I'm rolling prices back to 1965." This store has a lot more space than most of the other LL Bean Outlets, and with their proximity to Acadia National Park, they tend to feature as much outdoors gear as they can. Less emphasis on clothing, but regardless they still have racks and racks of returned and liquidated clothing available for sale. My favorite of this store is all of the embroidered returns. So if you don't mind having a backpack that says "AMY" even if your name is Fred, then I've found the perfect store for you. Parking is plentiful, the people are super nice and they even have a restroom (admittedly it wasn't very clean).

Decided to check out the LL Bran Outlet for some nice deals!

Where's the camping gear? They didn't have anything we needed. It's just no like was a decade ago, then they had everything.

Looking for outer gear for hiking the coast. Great deal on sale items. My wife decided to get the 20% off with the credit card application.

Things are still priced pretty high for an outlet store. The store is huge so there are a lot of options but not at a significant discount.

More expensive than the stores in Bar Harbor. Disappointed don't waste your time unless you have money to burn.

Confessions of a gear junkie. I buy way too much gear. Period. I'm often suckered in by a good deal…read more(which Alpenglow often has!) but I'm always brought back by great service. I'll skip shoddy service and pay a couple dollars more for good service. There's a reason I have made half a dozen orders from Alpenglow and I'll give you a hint: it's because their customer service rhymes with "awesome." Also rhymes with "excellent." If you don't believe me, log on to their web page, search the specials, save a boatload of money, and check your porch three days later. I promise you won't be disappointed. I haven't been, six times in a row (that's what she said). Thanks Alpenglow, for giving me an excuse to write this review and throw in a mediocre TWSS joke. Now I have gear to go sort, if you'll excuse me.

If I said Alpenglow was the all-time best of all time, your hyperbole-meter might start going off…read more However, your meter would be DEAD WRONG. Throw it in the trash. Wait for a sale at Amazon for a new one, maybe get last years model to save a little bit extra. You don't need the new pink-striped accents on the 2014 model. You might like them, but you don't need them. Anyway, back to Alpenglow. They rock! Countless times, I've searched for a random specific piece of gear online, and who not only has it in stock, but on sale?! Alpenglow. Not only are their sales timely and fantastic, but the customer service has been stellar, and the shippin' is quick and cheap/free. Trying to remember all the things I've bought here, maybe two sets of ice tools, cams, ice screws, pants, backpack, etc etc etc. All time best! EDIT: Incidentally, KennyB below sounds like an idiot. I give him 1 star.

Ok not much to say...I tend to say that a lot about a place and then write a ton. Ill try to limit…read moreit here lol Along Main Street in Bar Harbor, one of the most amazing towns I have ever visited...lies many, many, MANY! tourist shops. All stocked with tons and tons and TONS of Maine related items, because why would there be anything else, right? Well!!! Acadia Park Company is just ANOTHER one of those stores! I will say this...even tho there are tons of t-shirt shops, that also sell...magnets, mugs, hoodies, I mean..you name it! Acadia Park will for sure stand out to you as one of the nicer ones. 1) its very large and has tons of room to move around. Many on "the strip" are small and cramped. Not this one. 2) its very nice inside. Very clean, nice floors. 3) every product is laid out beautifully. Whoever designed the layout...props to you. You sure did put thought into it and have made a tourists shopping experience in a very busy little town VERY! busy...so much better. 4) you will for sure find something you love here. They have the most amazing hoodies. Hoodies other stores did not have. Did I buy one tho? 4) No, I did not :( :( and I regret it to this day....I was just there like 3 weeks ago lol. Why didn't I buy one? pricey! Thinking back tho, I should have gotten one because my whole life I have always wanted to go Maine. Finally made it there. Tried on 2 or 3 hoodies and absolutely should have treated myself. I got a t-shirt there tho lol 5) Staff is amazing! They literally see thousands of people a day, from all over the country, the world and somehow...remain pleasant and helpful. That takes talent and takes talent in the management to hire quality people. Wish I could work there. No joke. Id move to Maine in an a crazy ass heartbeat. Wonderful store to visit. Tons to choose from. If you happen to see this and go this store, you won't be disappointed. It really is a nice store in every way possible. I look forward to the day I make it back to Maine and to Bar Harbor. Thanks for reading, YelperMainers!!! sidebar, I visited many of these shops. I will try to write my reviews for all of them. Cheers!

The Acadia Corporation owns and runs eight different individual stores in the Bar Harbor area that collectively are referred to as "Acadia Shops." This specific review is for Acadia Park Company - a souvenir store that boasts "2% for the park." My understanding is that 2% of revenues go to Friends of Acadia (FOA). Anyway, as far as souvenir shops goes, this wine was pretty thorough offering t-shirts, jackets, hats, magnets, postcards etc. depicting images from Acadia National Park.

This is an aggregate review for a number of visits I made to this shop over five weeks' time,…read moreAutumn 2020. TL;DR: Go to this lovely shop. You'll be super pleased with their selection; find things you love/ need/ must have; and it will be a cheerful experience. Scroll down to the numbered list below to see what I scored. The Longer Story: I had just moved to town for a six month artists' residency in Rockland and didn't know a soul. After a bit of unmotivated unpacking, I took myself thrift store shopping, as one does, for retail therapy to fill the void. Luckily for me, Curator was the first spot I hit because I met co-owner Ben, a deeply friendly and cheerful guy. I met his wife Emily on my second visit. She's equally friendly and cheerful. And luckily for you, me, and everyone else we know* that might like to shop at Curator, both Emily and Ben love what they do. It shows. Curator is a bi-level shop with "menswear" (plus shoes & accessories) on the top floor and womenswear (plus shoes & accessories) a floor below. It's a gorgeous spot so whilst you're totally focused on your sartorial fix, take a few minutes to notice the thoughtful experiential design of the space--a lil modern, a lil dreamy, and a lot of DIY mojo. The first time I popped in I had a proper look around in order to get familiar with the Curator edit lens. In doing so, I found a pair of brand new, black leather Swedish clogs, size 6, that almost fit, but really didn't. Ben commiserated with me but reminded that sometimes things don't work out and that's totally okay. You know what? This is #truth. In thrifting, specifically, but in life, generally. I have pretty specific aesthetic when I thrift/ vintage/ consignment shop: excellent textiles/ fabric; handmade beauty; strong shapes/ cuts/ tailoring/ weaves; classic designs but also, the super quirkier, the better. Curator earns high marks in all of my categories. This is pretty rare. What it means is that I knew I would find something each time I came in and that's exactly what happened. Here's what I acquired: 1) a lovely VINTAGE SILK SCARF, cut, repurposed, and hand-stitched from a muted, lustrous apple-green silk obi with tiny, stylized, watercolor cherry blossoms. It should be said that the silk is excellent quality--heavy but super supple. $16.00. I wouldn't blink paying 10x that amount for this in Brooklyn or Paris. 2) a luscious oversized "menswear" CABLED CREAM CASHMERE SWEATER. I literally walked into the store, said hello to Emily, looked at the mens' sweater rack, saw *my* sweater hanging there, and snagged it. I've worn it at least once a week for 10 weeks running. Bonus: it's got good gauge (number of stitches per inch) and ply (number of cashmere threads twisted together to make the yarn). $38.00 Buy vintage cashmere, ya'll, always. 3) a FUZZY WOOLEN BEANIE, knit moss, plum, garnet & deep peony, from Nepal. Gorgeous colors. Warm as hell. $13.00 4) a crazy beautiful HAND-KNITTED ART SWEATER, again "menswear" so sized a bit enormous, but seriously fluffy & so wild and otherworldly, it had to be mine. Again: walked in, looked to my right, saw the sweater. Bought it. This weave is a medley of pelucid blues w/ intricate cream & white dropped-stitch-knit technique that looks as if "snowflakes" are resting on the garment, for a moment, w/o melting. I wouldn't be surprised if the maker had been dropping acid whilst knitting this piece, just as Van Gogh imbibed generous quantities of absinthe to produce his signature hypnotic, ethereal yet muscular brushwork for "Starry Night." That. Trippy. Y'all. Emily, bless her, asked if I'd like to try it on (perhaps because of its size & erm...vibe) and I declined. I knew I'd find use for it. I have worn it once, to sit on my sofa and drink champagne while I FaceTimed-celebrated my best childhood friend, finally divorced, because that is how we show up for each other: in any all ways possible. When we meet up again IRL, I will give this sweater to him because he truly deserves life's best, which sometimes arrives in unexpected, sweater-form shapes. $42.00 I'll end by noting that one can find more traditional, excellent things at Curator as well, like vintage LL Bean Sweaters; vintage Carhartt; vintage work wear including lots of Levis denim; a Pucci silk frock; a number of excellent plaid and thick weight shirts; fine leather goods; vintage jewelry; woolen capes; disco spectacular sequined numbers; and vintage Ts in fine condition, etc. Go. Enjoy yourself. And before you do, check Curator's social to learn of their COVID-safety protocols. Should you prefer to shop from home, check their IG & website. I took a look recently and it's not as wow-ing an experience as being in the store itself but of course, as a treasure hunter, you already know that. *(Thanks, Miranda July, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Me_and_You_and_Everyone_We_Know)

Such an awesome consignment shop with so many good vintage finds…read more Men's clothing upstairs, women's clothing downstairs. Clean and organized aesthetic, so it's not overwhelming when you walk in like a lot of consignment shops are. And the racks aren't overflowing and hard to sift through... we love to see it. So many jackets and sweaters, shoes, hats, shirts, dresses, etc. for solidly decent prices. I got a vintage patterned LL Bean sweater for $25. PLUS, incredibly sweet employees. The woman who checked me out was so nice and excited for my find. Great for validation if you need it lol. Will for sure recommend to any friends living in or visiting Rockland, Maine.
