Being that this Food Lion is one of convenience, I frequent this particular location (beats lunch…read morehour traffic in a city not known for traffic to get to a bigger retailer). They do well to have things in stock, and the management is some of the best that you could ask for, in my experience. The reason I've rated this particular one the way I did is due to several poor experiences I've had while visiting, and being that it was more than one I'd say that's fair game. For one, I'm almost never greeted with the familiar "Welcome to Food Lion". Big deal right? How about completing an entire transaction without being spoken to? Ok, stuff happens right? The pain point for me lies in the issues I've had using my MVP. I've had multiple experiences where my transaction was either rushed past me using my MVP or them using theirs. This severely hurts the brand, and makes the experience frustrating at times at the register. It's not all of the cashiers though, as a decent amount of them are super friendly. Customer service is a huge selling point for me. But if MVP is not a make or break point for you, this store will suit your needs just fine.

Maybe I'm just getting old and intolerant, but I…read moredo not understand why customers should have to wait until the cashier finishes their personal conversation first. Tonight is a perfect example (please check your tapes, as the video will support my statement). 3 cashiers, but only 2 lines open, 2 cashiers having a prolonged, silly conversation with the women in front of me, which included the 3rd cashier, kind of dancing from iregister to register talking to my cashier and the customer ahead of me. This went on and on (around 7pm) , with other cashiers stopping by while is continued. I've learned that complaining only gets you worse service and an attitude, so I simply beat it. But why? Do you teach cashier to annoy the masses at the expense of the "employee friends"? I assume that one of the many other cashier that wandered by (shift change?) could have intervened, rather than participating, but of course, the only person that minded was me. So is an 10 minutes, 3 times a week, a big deal? 30 minutes x52 weeks is 1,560 minutes or 26 hours..... a year.... you might not care, but there are much better things to do with those hours than to listen to two women repeat the words "filet mignon" over and over.

So while I'm visiting, I checked out the store and bought some snacks. This seems like a relatively new store even if Dashawn's review was two years ago. It is clean and the floors are still bright. Merchandise is well stocked and the produce looked good. Prices are quite decent. Perhaps a little higher than Walmart but definitely lower than Harris Teeter. Good quality and a good selection. This isn't my regular shopping destination but I'd certainly make it one. [Review 15490 overall, 994 of 2021, number 3033 in North Carolina.]

Today the prices are skyrocketing but at PW, they are OVER skyrocketing, it's almost to the point of price gouging. If you're looking for clean, this is the place, it is very clean inside but maybe it's clean inside because people don't want to go there because it's not the friendliest place I've been and even the cash register (self-checkout) isn't friendly, I couldn't remember where to enter my customer ID, finally found it... I also dropped my item on the scanner and we had an error, I had to wait until a group of workers that were talking about music on the checkout line beside me!! Finally she (I'm guessing the front end manager) saw that we needed help, after my husband said "yep, we're waiting on assistance" because the register says "please wait for assistance". She walked closer to the register but never came over and never said a thing and went back to her friends/workers and continued talking about music. I was at the store on 10/16/25 at 11:51AM R024. Terrible, as much as I hate that popular BIG store their prices are better and I do get greeted.

It was clear by the reduced inventory that they're already planning for it to shut down though there are no over signs of reduction sales. I was here because I stupidly forgot to grab a tie when I packed my bag for this weekend. I have an event to go to and a tie is required, Belk is the only apparent haute couture in Kinston so I stopped in, The men's department was hard to find because it's probably the smallest in the store. Eventually, I spotted a dozen or two ties to choose from and at $15, that's too rich for my blood. Only one of them was close to the color scheme I needed and I'm just not going to spend that much money for something I will wear once. I have a bunch at home. The store is tidy and clean, just not very well stocked. And certainly, no major discounts. Good luck, Belk. [Review 15481 overall, 985 of 2021, number 3024 in North Carolina.]

I used their registry for my wedding in 1997, and their Egyptian cotton towels look as beautiful as they did when I got them. Target's clothing is stylish and affordable. You can get the same looks you see in Elle, Marie Claire and Vogue without the designer price tags. Their maternity wear is especially pretty and practical. When I was pregnant all the maternity-wear stores had deep vee neck tops and capri pants, with their only "work safe" garments in ugly prints and cheap, baggy fabrics. I came to Target and found fashion-forward pieces that were career-appropriate and didn't make me look like a fat, tacky frump. Target's cosmetics department has all the brands you'll see at drugstores and Ulta at competitive prices. Same for the fragrances; you'll find your fave celebrity name brand. Appliances? I picked up a VIC card at Customer Service and only had to wait a couple minutes behind another customer. Registration was fast and painless - I was prepared to answer a slew of tedious questions, but all the associate needed was the basic info off my driver's license. First stop was the produce dept, which has an amazing variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. My guinea pigs thank you for the very large, fresh and crispy heads of Red Leaf and Romaine Lettuce! The deli area has a wonderful selection of meats, sauces and dressings, and especially cheeses! I love it like a rat and will definitely return for more! I didn't buy anything in the bakery but was sorely tempted by the coconut cakes. (Next time for sure!) There were delicious cakes, bagels, doughnuts and fresh breads on display. The meat market is excellent and has an impressive inventory of seafood! Now I know where to come for fish and seafood. The deviled crabs (which weren't on our list, but were irresistable) were yummy. The dairy department is one of the best I've seen in Wayne County, with a wide selection of milks, dips, cheeses, yogurts, eggs and such. Whatever you need, they probably have. Same for the frozen foods. The grocery aisles were easy to access, which is great if, like me, you sometimes (or always) use a wheelchair. Again, the variety of choices is excellent. Prices were a bit higher on some items than than Wal-Mart or Food Lion, but the atmosphere is very pleasant and the store is clean and has well-marked aisles. Checkout was wait-free and our checker was a very nice young lady who got us rung up and sacked up quickly. We really liked this store and we will definitely be back for more.

I don't know his name. He's a middle-aged white guy, in good shape, and friendly. Every time I came in, he just treated me like a true friend -- not a customer service "friend," but a real friend. He asked me how my day was, joked around with me, gave me a genuine smile, and really made me feel welcome. This is the reason I come to Piggly instead of Food Lion most of the time.
