Dealing with an attorney like Rebecca Perkins who behaves like she is doing you a favor to work for you and can "fire you" at a moment's notice makes one of the toughest experiences you can face even tougher. My strong recommendation is to find someone else to help you, no matter how tempting Rebecca's skills may seem. Here's my story. I have a lifetime of business and negotiating experience, just so you know who's writing this. I hired Rebecca because I strongly believed she had the ability to help me in a tricky divorce situation, and she indicated she felt the same way. I gave Rebecca the benefit of the doubt when she IMMEDIATELY shifted me to Courtney without my knowledge or consent, who I never met on day one. Courtney seemed competent but lacked Rebecca's fighting spirit which was why i hired Rebecca, but again, figured Rebecca knew the best path forward for my situation. After just a few months, apparently Rebecca and Courtney parted ways, but the notification process was misleading and shady (my opinion). Without input from Rebecca, Courtney took her own path to my case which has proven completely ineffective (demonstrably). Courtney and I agreed to part ways amicably, but now I am in a bind with court dates coming - I need a quality attorney who can be strong and strategic at a critical time. I still believed Rebecca could be that attoney. I called Rebecca and asked her to resume her role as my attorney. Rebecca said she "reviewed my file" and has decided not to take me on as a client. Interestingly, I should still be her client as I just paid a good size bill. She'll likely say I signed a change of attorney form and so I should only blame myself, but that change was presented by Courtney as "allowing Courtney to handle more matters directly". I never heard from Rebecca during their "transition process" at all. I had to pry it out of Courtney that she was no longer affiliated with Rebecca. Long story short. Stay away. Too much risk you won't make the cut as someone she is willing to help--even after she takes you on as a client! read more

I was recommended to this law office by a friend. I requested the virtual consultation, was given a date and waited. I was quoted 5k retainer $375/hr. The day of my telephone consult, Within five minutes On the phone with Rebecca, I was asked to send in my documents because she could not assist me without reviewing documents first. She sent me an email of what she required and her fees 7k retainer $450/hr.I emailed the documents. She couldn't open them. Contacted her office staff and sent via iMessage. Never received a confirmation if documents had been downloaded. She called me in the evening and mentioned "I've been out of the country for 12 days, I have a headache can I please see your case tomorrow." Not a problem. Didn't hear from her Tuesday, I followed up Wednesday, her staff stated to email her. I emailed her, received a call about 1.5 hr later, she was flustered that my documents were not available and that she was very busy. I had to mention that I followed up with her staff to check if they had received them, never got a response, otherwise I could have sent them again in a different format. She made up some excuses about her staff and then tried to go in on me as if it was my lack of follow up. She asked me to come to her office within the hour. Unfortunately, my work didn't allow me that flexibility. She then told me she didn't need to take my case and wasn't even sure she wanted it. She's busy, and has a lot of other cases that take priority, domestic violence because of the holidays etc..etc. She then proceeded to take a tone as if she was doing me a favor and even stated NO ONE REVIEWS DOCUMENTS FOR FREE! Umm, excuse me, I followed up per your requests, and now I'm taking your time!? Then she mentioned she was out of the country in Cancun for 14 days. Hey everyone appreciates a good vacation, but I'm confused at to where I ended up "stealing" her time. Any service provider that references to "I don't need your case or to provide you services" is already a red flag. No need to be condescending, if you want to charge for consultations do so upfront, and then provide that 60min of consultation or whatever time is designated. I do follow-up on things and am responsible. If you can't balance your time off and practice then let your staff know so they don't book consultations until your jet lag is gone and also have them request exactly what you want before hand. Your time is not the only time that is valuable. At least she did give me her three sentence legal perspective on my case. She made it clear she would think about if she wanted to pursue this case (she stated she would let me know by the end of the business day). She did send her response by 5ish pm. She followed up via email AND text, she was not interested. Was it that difficult to follow-up in the first place!? Glad she worked out for some of you on here, but I can't collaborate with individuals that are condescending! Finding the right individual is essential in situations such as these. I scheduled and paid for a virtual consult. 30 min into the scheduled time the attorney was a no-show so I called the offices. I was told a previous appointment may have run late and I would be contacted shortly. I stayed on the zoom call for the entire hour of the scheduled time just in case someone logged on for the meeting. After my scheduled time I sent an email to the offices. I have since received 3 auto generated follow up emails thanking me for my business and asking that I schedule more meetings. 4 days later I followed up with a call and was told my message would be relayed to the attorney. I am still waiting for a follow up call and refund for the missed meeting that I was made to pre-pay for.
