The vet sat down on the floor with her instead of forcing her onto the table, which we appreciated more than they probably know. She stayed calm the whole exam. The blue and white walls inside give the place a clean feel, and the exam room smelled fine, not like cleaner overload. We got an itemized estimate before anything was done, and the pricing felt fair. Around 240 for everything including the bloodwork, which was lower than what we paid last year somewhere else. They called the next morning with results and walked us through the medication schedule slowly, which helped my husband since he writes everything down. Update: As you can see, the business replied asking ME to contact THEM regarding my horrible experience. During this whole thing I did request to be contacted but was not. Now they want me to call them? If they were as upset as they said in their response, they should be calling ME! Not the other way around. I have been bringing my two dogs here for about 4 years with no real issue. Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to cross over one of our 11 year old furbabies on the 15th of December. Here's where everything went bad. We were put in a room and then forgotten about for over 20 minutes. The tech came in and said the girls didn't tell her she had a room. Then the vet came in, we never saw him before, and he just kept mumbling. We had to ask him to repeat himself. After examining our dog, who has suffered seizures for over a year, he stated he felt a mass in her tummy. She had other symptoms as well which brought us in-in the first place. He then proceeded to give us our options all the while with his hand on the door knob like he couldn't wait to be done with us. Once we made the most difficult decision of my life, they took our baby out of the room to put a catheter in. After 10 minutes I could her a bunch of talking and laughing going on in the front so I opened the door to make sure the candle was lit (they light it when a pet is being put down for people to be quiet during this time) and it was but the girls out front were giggling and laughing until they saw me. This was inappropriate and unprofessional. I went back in the room and we waited another 30 agonizing minutes until my husband finally asked what was going on. We were finally told they were having an issue putting in the catheter. The rest went as expected. Fast forward to 12/24 when they told me her ashes would be returned, I called 3 times that morning to make sure. They assured me. They were closing early, which I understand being christmas eve but told me the delivery would for sure be there before 2pm. I went in just before they were closing because I hadn't heard anything and they told me I wasn't getting her ashes back that day. Obviously I was upset after waiting all day and one of the girls got defensive and said they cant control when the delivery comes very rudely. I said no, but you could have at least made a phone call to the crematorium especially after I called 3 times earlier before telling me she was going to come. As I was driving home, they called and said because I ordered a pendant with her ashes in it-it could take another couple of weeks. I told them they should have told me this and I would have cancelled the pendant but they said they weren't made aware of it until they ordered it. I said they still should have called me and also this could not have been the first time someone ordered something extra for them to not know about the delay. I was then told they would contact the crematorium on the 26th when they return first thing in the morning. I sent an email asking to speak with a manager about our experience. Fast forward to the 26th, I called about 10:15 am and the same girl told me she was busy and basically will get to it when she gets to it. I said they act like they dont care and to let me know what crematorium they use. I called the crematorium, which for some reason is over two hours away. They told me they never heard from my vets office. Not once. I made arrangements to drive there to pick my dogs remains up. While there, they told me that ordering the pendant doesn't hold up getting remains back. They also said they still hadn't heard from my vets office. As I was driving home, over two hours, the vets office called and said they called the crematorium and were trying to get my dogs remains delivered. I told them that I just picked them up an hour earlier. Finally, I heard enough. I then asked that they have both my dogs records printed for me to pick up. Fast forward to today. I get a text that the records are ready. I go to pick them up and the manager of this office was on phone, saw me and just handed the records to me over her computer without even acknowledging me. We took our dog here after we tried another vet office and we're SO GLAD we found this place. Our dog was experiencing a pretty bad allergic reaction that was causing bumps all over his body and his mood was totally off. The staff and doctors here at Family Pet Hospital understood the urgency and fear we were living in and was able to see our dog quickly. We ended up coming here two times within the same week and each time check in was quick and we were meeting with the doctor soon after that. They were upfront with us about their whole process and gave us an opportunity to ask any questions we had. I'm happy to say our dog made a full recovery. I'm so happy we were able to identify what was causing the reaction so fast and act just as quickly to get it under control. R G 5 minutes ago New My dog comes in for a Bordetella shot but the receptionist tells us a yearly examination is required and they will not give shot unless this happens. A $30 shot turns into $101.65 visit. I agree and go to a room. A worker comes in and states my dog is a biter; however, my dog has never bitten or attempted to bite anyone. He's been to groomers and such with no issues. The lady is matter of fact and takes the dog in the backroom and doesn't say anything to me. I wasn't sure to wait or go to the front, so I go to the front. We've been coming here for years and have never seen the doctor examine our dog, I've never met the doctor. Everytime we go they take him to the back and the same lady who takes him back tells us he was examined. Mind you, they were not busy. I asked the lady why he was taken back to room and we don't get to see what happens. She started to tell me that I left. She did not communicate with me to stay and the doctor will be in to explain what happened. This worker has poor communication skills and everything we have to deal with her it's the same thing- poor communication. Over many years, we have never met the doctor. I said this sucks and might consider Armstrong Pet Hospital, the lady in front tells me that she will deactivate my account. I never told her to deactivate my account but she did not want my business. I found out she was the manager, Trina, and she told me she didn't like how I asked the question of the worker. Someone jumped in and started to defend the manager and worker. I paid $102 and Trina did not give me my change, so I got over charged $.35. It may not be a a lot, but it is a over charge. So, my account was deactivated because I voiced my concern with the process. I told them that I did not tell them to deactivate my account and if I choose to go somewhere else, I don't have to tell them. They don't like to listen to feedback of disappointment in service. Received an email from this vet saying my dogs need to come in for heartworm tests. Took my 3 dogs there and nobody was at the front desk for at least 15 minutes to check us in, we had appointments. Then they take us back to a room, and they ask me "what are you here for?" I replied and said, "I received an email stating my dogs need heartworm tests done." Over 650 dollars which included a special 74 dollar "cause she's over a year old fee" on top of an unnecessary extra physical exam and a fecal test which was another couple hundred of dollars. Get the dog teeth cleaned " there is three visits and 4-5 hundred dollars. Constant text messages about extra shots I don't want. Needless screenings and tests before simple procedures. My dog was shaking his head and I took him in. They were very nice until I said that I did not want them to give flea treatment, heart worm treatment, blood test, pain medication but that I just wanted them to sedate him and find what was wrong with his ear. The fee for just the sedation and checking and cleaning his ear was $616.00. It would have been over $200.00 dollars more for all the other stuff. When I went to pick him up the receptionist told me he had a ruptured eardrum and they found nothing in his ear. No doctor came out to talk to me about it or to explain anything to me. I took my dog to the hospital because he was limping and I suspected he might have dental pain too. I explained this to the doctor. After checking my dog's leg and suggesting an X-ray to check for any fractures, I asked about his teeth. However, the doctor didn't even glance at my dog's mouth. Without examination, the doctor immediately suggested anesthesia for a teeth cleaning, stating it was necessary. When I suggested a check-up, the doctor refused, claiming he already knew the issue. In less than two minutes, the doctor left and the nurse requested a quote for an X-ray: $80 for the visit and $532 for the X-ray, with no mention of treatment costs. Nurse said the treatment cost will be calculated after the x-ray. the teeth surgery and treatment was also separate. I was shocked that the doctor recommended anesthesia for teeth cleaning without examining the specific area of concern. This visit marked my first and last time at that hospital. I hoped the doctor would prioritize the animals' well-being over financial gain. I only brought my dog here because they were the only place open on a Sunday and my dog was injured. What a terrible mistake. The complete lack of care and compassion for my dog at this place was astounding. Dr. Singh did not know how to handle my dog, he began pulling his leash dragging him as soon as he walked in, didn't build any rapport by trying to pet him or give him one of the treats I brought. Just snatched his leash and started dragging my dog over to him even though my dog was clearly scared cowering in the corner. After 5 minutes of him attempting to exam my dog and telling him, "you're fine" "this doesn't even hurt" while my dog was whimpering and crying, I had to put a stop to it. The vet tech was also complicit in his antics by telling me this was normal and I needed to let the doctor do his job. That is the furthest thing from normal I have ever seen and that's sick they think that's normal behavior. After I stopped him he told me he couldn't examine my dog.. obviously since he doesn't know the first thing about how to handle or care for dogs. Took my cat here with a sinus infection. Been in rescue for years. I knew what was wrong and just wanted antibiotics. Doc tried to convince me she had cancer of the eye or an impacted tooth. Wanted over $600 to run a couple of tests and an X-ray. Told her I just want meds and that was it. While I was waiting I watched cock roaches crawling around bags of catfood in the hall outside our room. The antibiotics cost $50 and the eye ointment was $40, highest I've ever paid. The doc was the rudest I've ever encountered. All she was interested in was running up the tab. Anyway I get my cat home and get her healed as it was just a sinus infection. A couple weeks later I realize my house is infested with fleas as are all of my other cats. This cat is the only cat that has been out of my house in over a decade. My cats are very healthy. They don't go outside at all and are not exposed to fleas. So I deduct she brought them home from the clinic. I called them and told them. They said actually hung up on me. I called back and was told someone would call me. Nobody called so I called again to day to be hung up on, called back put on hold forever, kept calling until someone finally answered, spoke to the boss? and she proceeded to call me a liar. I took my little girl Lizzy to Family Pet Hospital because of a concern I had regarding an abscess...they were able to diagnose her very quickly, take of her and prescribe antibiotics...my only issue is that I was told that what was given may not be enough and that I would need to get more. Well, they were right...she still has 3 1/2 days to go before she is done with her medication, and I will have to buy more. Dr. Singh always gave him meds for this that cleared it up in a day or two. New vet told me"I don't hand just hand out meds and metronidazole doesn't work for diarrhea." We have been going to Family Pet for 10 years and though I have written a review before, I just had to write another. We breed Golden Retrievers and it has been a tough week with our pack. We lost one of our dogs to liver failure and we welcomed a new litter with serious complications at the delivery. I feel like I have been living at Family Pet. To say that Dr. Gil & Dr. Singh are extraordinary is an understatement. Not only do they love the dogs, but they are exceptional practitioners. They are holistic in their approach, assessing systems and evaluating what all the pieces of information mean. And yet, they are cautious with testing so as not to bankrupt their client in the process. I appreciate the balanced approach and have often been amazed by how reasonable my bill is when all is said and done. But most importantly, amazed by the way they've been able to discern an underlying cause and help our Goldens recover. We've been through it all with them: cancer, c-sections, liver failure, dog fights, heart worms (put your dogs on meds!), pyometra, and even a dog who got electrocuted by chewing a fan cord. They have treated it all with incredible skill and kindness. The vet techs are just as fabulous, as they really LOVE their jobs and are super knowledgeable. One star is generous. My mother brought in my cat last night. She was told that his bladder was blocked and they could fix it. They told her the cat "was in bad shape" but never said critical. My mother paid half the price ($600) and left the cat. They tried to call her at 12:00 midnight and she didn't answer. The cat died over night. They were very rude to me on the phone multiple times when I called to find out what happened and why they still wanted an additional ($600) when the cat passed. I was then told that when they called at midnight it was to tell my mom to take the cat to the ER because they don't have overnight service. She was asleep and missed the call. So they went home and left our cat to die. They claim now they told my mom things were critical which they did not. They had no compassion towards her today or myself. I am so disappointed that people who work with animals do not care about the families who have entrusted them with their pet. I really wanted to like this office. When I first started visiting, I appreciated that I received my information and reminders via email and that the hours were so convenient. Lately, though, the staff has become belligerent, confusing and difficult to deal with. I have been trying to diagnose an issue with my dachshund and we have made multiple visits since February, spending thousands of dollars on tests and treatments. We have also taken my other dogs in for shots and boosters. On those visits I had requested to have blood work information emailed to me so that I could take my dogs home and not have them waiting longer in the heat and stress. The staff neglected to do so and I followed up to finally get the information. Unfortunately, some of the blood work results showed that additional visits were necessary. On multiple occasions I have called to ask to speak with the veterinarian and been told that they were busy but would get back to me. On at least three occasions, no follow ups were received as promised. I spoke with a different veterinarian in the office three days ago who shared things I'd not been previously told. I found out that some additional information was available from some tests and the information was not conveyed to me. I was very frustrated to not have a full picture of the scope of the issue that we are trying to address with my dachshund. I called again twice today, after being advised the veterinarian handling my dogs would call me Sunday (and did not) and would call me "in thirty minutes"(but did not). I finally received a call back from the veterinarian and he called my adult son a liar, repeatedly, because my son conveyed to me that some information was not provided (we had the Sunday vet on speaker) but the veterinarian is certain that it was... I believe the veterinarian may have been confusing my son with someone else because he also referenced my husband having brought our dogs in and speaking with my husband... But I am a widow and not married. He also made derogatory comments about my son being a teenager that was on his phone and not paying attention... My son is an adult so I again think he was misremembering his patient interactions. Either way, I tried to defuse this by saying that there could have been some miscommunication or misunderstanding but the veterinarian repeatedly chose to say that my son is a liar which is very inappropriate and unprofessional, and also insisted my son should return to the office to apologize to him. I'll admit that I can personally be pushy to get information or resolution but my son is very non confrontational. I tried to ask questions so that I could understand the issue and get clarification when he spoke too quickly for me to understand. Unfortunately, the veterinarian would only speak over me with great hostility and not answer the questions. I admitted to him that I had been frustrated by the lack of communication and lack of staff follow through with either emailing or calling me back when information and test results were requested. Then the conversation turned very bizarre and he mentioned things about how life is different and went off on a tangent about civil liberties... I'm not sure how any of that was relevant to my dogs' health, my options for diagnosis or treating him, or what is going on with him. I love Dr. Singh and Raquel the office manger. I have been taking my English bulldog and 2 Frenchies and Cano Corso for years. I can always get in the same day or last minute. The doctor always calls me back with results or he is available to talk to me about any results. He does not charge me an arm and a leg for services. My 3 yr old high energy GSP cut herself three Saturdays ago hiking the high sierras above Huntington Lake. There were no veterinary hospitals open except in Fresno. All had 5 to 6 hour wait times for non life threatening care. My Lily needed some stitches. While waiting outside in the car at one of the 24-7 clinics, I decided to call around JIC. One vet hospital that was about to close for the day recommended calling Family Pet in Clovis. I called and told them my tale of woe and was asked to hold for just a second. When they came back and said: "can you come right now?" My tires were squealing as I asked if 15 minutes was too long. When we arrived they took Lily in right away and said it would take a couple hours. IF I HAD TRUSTED THIS VET MY DOG WOULD BE DEAD RIGHT NOW. Brought my 9 year old Great Dane in for a swollen rear leg and high fever-he had lost quite a bit of weight and was refusing food and water. Understandably he looked like crap. I let the vet know this dog has always had trouble keeping on weight-and with his refusal to eat(or eat much) for a few days that he had lost a lot of weight fast. The vet never even touched my dog-just looked from across the small room. With that being said-my pets are very well taken care of and well loved. The vet was incredibly RUDE. Spent ten minutes SHAMING ME - telling me that my Dane obviously had something systemic going on,(Cancer was the implication) and insisted that it had OBVIOUSLY been going on for "a long time" (it was 2 days-three including the day I took him in) and needed to be EUTHANIZED due to my neglect. He told me this was the worst case of neglect of a giant breed he had ever seen. Sent me away due to their clinic not even being equipped to x-ray a giant dog-and I took my boy to the Pet ER. Pet ER treated my boy and within 24 hours he was back on his feet-swelling receded and guess what? NOTHING SYSTEMIC-NO MENTIONS OF NEGLECT. NO SUGGESTIONS OF EUTHANASIA. Pet ER gave him antibiotics, fluids and watched him for 24 hours. Good to go. DO NOT TRUST THE VETS AT FAMILY PET HOSPITAL-ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE GIANT BREEDS. The desk staff and techs seemed great-the VETS themselves? Worst I've ever been to see. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE and no genuine love for animals. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Side note: Thanks to Pet ER - My old man Dane is back to his normal happy playful self-if I had listened to Family Pet's vet-he would be DEAD. I'm so glad I IGNORED the vets "diagnosis" and took him to a real emergency vet. read more

Dr. Gill was absolutely horrible. First off, he doesn't know how to talk to people without sounding and looking cold. Secondly, the way he handle my 10lb dog was way too rough. I took her in for slightly labored breathing and after X-rays showed some small tumors in her lungs, he told me I should put my dog down!!! Mind you, my dog still eats, drinks, sleeps, pees and poops. Please do not take your pet here!! read more

My dog "needed a nail surgery" on Friday according to the person on hand. Picked him up, didn't act injured or have any sort of bad nail. Doctor told me, "we know what we are doing you don't." If you can, find somewhere else to go. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. The staff are a joke absolutely clueless. My dog cannot walk for some reason. Took my dog here for second opinion waited in the car which is not the issue. The issue is after waiting 20 mins they come out to tell me the vet is going to look at my dog in the car! Because they didn't want to carry her in the building and to avoid stressing her out. Are you kidding me! Don't you think she is stressed sitting in the car? What kind of exam was this so called vet going to do in the car. This place should be ashamed of themselves they have no compassion ...heartless. If you love your pet avoid this place. I only have one star because I had too. read more

I took my fur baby to the vet because he had an ear infection and his allergies were out of control. This doctor did more for my dog than any other vet has and for half the price. I also witnessed one of the techs get told off by a very rude customer and she kept her cool and handled herself very professionally and respectful the whole time. She also handled that customers dog with care even after all of that. I don't think their getting the credit they deserve on some of these reviews. I will be taking my dog back. The WORST front desk and customer care experience ever! Vet care was alright but the front desk took the prize!!! Do your pet a favor and avoid this place altogether, unless you want to wait 6 days for a prescription after paying thousands for tests and visits. Very happy with the Family Pet Hospital! They saw us on short notice during a mild emergency when no other vet or pet ER would!
