They came out within the hour, got set up with some sort of cable cleaning tube I've never seen anyone use before, and proceeded to work on my kitchen sink line, which wasn't draining. The guy went out to the end of his cable(75 feet), and the line apparently still wasn't draining. So he did the same thing again, with the same result. So then the Tech suggested a different tactic, going to the other end of the line, and cabling it from there with a different machine. Well after a bit apparently "sludge" started coming down the line, bit by by bit, so he kept his machine running. After a good 30 minutes of him just running the machine, a whole bunch of grey water came rushing through and it opened up. Sink drains really well now, and haven't had any issues since. I give them 5 stars because of being persistent in fixing the problem, getting here in a timely manner, and cleaning up afterwards. read more

Highly recommended business! My basement main water pipe backed up and water was everywhere inches high. Since this is a bi-level house it actually is also living space, so needed help a.s.a.p. and it was AFTER regular business hours, called Family Rooter, and he said he would be out within the hour and arrived after just 30 minutes already. He checked and found the cause, took the time to explain what happened and how he will fix it. VERY friendly and down to earth person, and got the job done efficiently and quickly. Also gave me tips on what to look for in the future and what I can do to use as a early warning system. BEST PRICE in town and county! Excellent service!!! I was in a bind. I had been without a kitchen sink due to a major leak. I took a day off work bought some supplies for the job made an appointment with a different plumber. I waited for 4 hours and left 4 messages on their machine. I couldn't wait another whole weekend eating out. So I looked up quality plumbers in Lansing. Family Rooter was at the top of the list with 4 excellent reviews. I explained my problem he said he would be out. In no time he was at my door. My repairs were quickly made. My plumbing is older and he showed me why I was having the problems. There are 3 more issues that will need attention but I will be able to use my sink. I had a drain in my. bathroom that was not working. Had not worked for quite a while, and even then, did not work well. I called Family Rooter this morning and was fortunate that they were able to come over today. That's good #1! Next, Shawn fixed the poor draining issue, but in the process noticed that there was a leak from the back of the drain, the part that would close the drain. He showed me (and I was possibly aware of the problem) and suggested that he put in a new section of pipe and fix the stopper at the same time. I am delighted to have a fully functioning bathroom sink again. Work was done in a timely fashion and, I believe, an affordable way. Nice, quick work. I would recommend this company. read more

Family Rooter has become our new go-to guy! We had an on-going plumbing problem that we called out a big company for. They always seemed to fix the problem, then it would return once they left. We called Family Rooter when the big company started quoting us for thousands of dollars worth of work. Family Rooter came out on a weekend, was patient, very knowledgeable, and fixed multiple problems for less money than the corporate company quoted us for one. Although I initially called this place because they were available much faster than other places not to mention cheaper, I was surprised that they were much friendlier and more professional than rooter companies I have dealt with in the past. Not only did they clean up after themselves, but they EXPLAINED things very clearly and effectively, which no other company had bothered to do before. Communication counts for a lot with me, so that was a big plus. Although I hope to NOT need to use them again(because who wants plumbing problems?), I will do so if it is necessary for sure.
