My wife had chicken skewers for main and I had a vegetarian pasta with moreish warm garlic bread. The quality is there and everything tasted delicious. Those serving were delightful and so attentive. It had a decent flow of customers through the evening and justifiably so. My wife had wine and me cappuccino. The decor is a bit dated and much as I remember it but as we were very well fed and watered including two main dishes for about £50 the decor doesn't rank for me. We didn't once feel ripped off and that sure ranks with me so all in all a wonderful experience. I suspect it won't take nine years to return.

We started with pints of cider, then ordered dinner. I had the Irish Cream Chicken, two chicken cutlets pounded thin and sauteed, served over mashed potatoes and topped with a Bushmills gravy with green beans. We got a second side, and I decided on the champ, a potato and leek mash with spring onions. Extra sauce served on the side had green beans in it, too. My husband ordered the lamb shank and enjoyed it, as well. It came with mashed potato, but he ordered the side of French fried onions (onion rings, which were a little greasy). After that, I was full, but Mr. S. asked to at least see a dessert menu. It was a tough decision between the pavlova and the hot fudge cake, but we opted to share the cake. A simple two-layer chocolate cake, drenched in a warm chocolate sauce and served with our choice of ice cream or fresh cream. Not overly fancy, but completely delicious.

We arrived around 1.30pm, downstairs was pretty empty so we lifted a few menus and sat down. A girl quickly came to serve us for drinks and let us browse menu. Typically pub grub and lots to choose from. I had the lamb roast and mum had chicken maryland(see pics) Both meals were generous servings, especially for lunch time. First and foremost it's so humble, what do I mean by that? Well the road it's situated on is a tight country road with a generous speed limit, so it's easy to zip by the sign with hardly anytime for a glance. If you do make a conscious effort to stop, you will find the most quintessential Irish country pub / restaurant near Belfast, and it seems to give the impression it's doing this without even trying. It's classically decorated and peppered with pictures of Belfast in a bygone era, so you have plenty to catch your eye. If stopping for food you could be in for a treat as we were offered a table beside a beautiful open fire. (Continually stoked by the staff). This really set a great mood for a cozy and relaxed Sunday lunch, which, by the way, was delicious! Thanks to a bad signal for the card machine, I was asked to go downstairs to the bar and pay. This turned out to be very difficult, as I was so tempted to sit down have a drink, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon! Clearer heads prevailed though and I was soon on my way back to my well fed family. But.... next time I'll be making sure I'm not the one who has to drive home!!

The place was certainly popular with a heck of a lot of cheerful young folk enjoying open air beer, freedom and craic. We got seated at a new looking bench and got a limited pub grub menu with the likes of chicken wings and prawns pil pil for starters and chicken goujons (don't recall price) overpriced chicken/beef burgers (£16) and fish and chips (£12) as mains. So the food offerings were mostly deep-fried convenience food for the cook. We got cappuccinos (£2.5) and while they were good they went cold too quickly. Had the cups been warmed first with hot water for a minute; it would have made a noticeable beneficial difference. The service was friendly but unusually payment was required on ordering. There was nothing special or gourmet about the food but the prices were high enough to expect it. We opted for a chicken burger and a fish and chips. We said no cheese with the chicken burger but it still came with cheese. We usually leave cheese out as it tends to be cheap, oily and poor tasting unnecessary fat. At £16 the chicken burger (served with a few chunky chips and red cabbage) was well overpriced - certainly £4 over the odds - if it had been served with home-made coleslaw, and home made mayo on the side or a home-made sriracha sauce it might justify this stonking price. The battered fish was cod. The batter was ok - it could have been better seasoned and should have been made thinner (as it's a pub it could have been easily made from beer, which would have been much better) and while the portion was generous (4 pieces) the fish was far too bloody thin for a restaurant meal, restaurants like this should be able to command good thick cod from suppliers, even good chippies can knock this meal out with similar portions with much thicker fish for two thirds the price. We apparently can't now sell our world class, fresh, wet fish to Europe, as we've departed Europe and the useless government just recently failed to strike a fishing deal with Norway, so we should be tripping over ourselves with the very best quality cold water white fish that we can't get rid of and at rock bottom prices. So it's a good two star/borderline 3 star. There's nothing to take me back here for a second visit but I do recommend that the cook here goes for lunch to Sinton's Scarva.

We popped in here for lunch one day and were pleasantly surprised by the vast menu on offer. The restaurant is very trendy and modern and I imagine its a great place to come for a nice quiet drink. They offer several different menu options- lunch, evening, buffet, sunday and function. We were in for lunch and I went for the salt and pepper squid to start which was perfectly prepared and really well presented and then for my main I had the Chicken goujons with salad and chips which was great and very filling. The chips here I must say are great! Will certainly be back here again! Prices are reasonable with a main setting you back £8-£9.
