If you don't eat here (and often), what are you even doing? First time and was extremely impressed with the menu and bites. The service was the weaker link, but still a strong 4 stars in my book and will look forward to returning with now having a Roanoke connection. The business is just outside of Roanoke in a nicer strip. Parking may be challenging on brunch weekends, however my weekday visit no problem. Our party of three was greeted and seated immediately with menus. The vibe feels First Watch chain, but all good. They do have a bar which sets them apart from other brunch joints. I assume Famous Toastery is also chain, how big no idea. Everything presented nicely and was clean. Even the men's room was spotless. The menu was strong with lots of variety. You can find anything you're looking for on any type of diet. They do offer a healthier, protein forward section. Our waitress was good upfront, but then fizzled out with sharing bar duties and was absent. I dialed in on a loaded omelette. Included a side of roasted veggies and sourdough bread with black coffee. My wife a breakfast sandwich and my son chocolate chip pancakes with scrambled eggs. Food pushed out quick, like within 15 minutes. Everything was served hot and yummy. My omelette was packed with flavor, the roasted veggies were fresh and cooked up perfectly. Even the coffee was tasty. We went for breakfast and it was great except for two things. I got the pancakes and my granddaughter got the gravy biscuits and French toast. Everything arrived hot and delicious. Our server seemed a like she was distracted very inattentive. I never was able to get any more coffee and had to grab another server to get more. We ordered a cinnamon bun to go which was an extreme let down. It was vert dry (I think over cooked) and it barely had any icing. The 3 items I read about that interest me most were: 1. The Huevos Rancheros, 2. The Peach Crepes, and 3. The Maine Lobsters. The last two only offered on weekends. So one day I decided to go visit this restaurant and see for myself if all that I had read and seen of this restaurant from their website and reviews were actually true. I arrived in Keagy Village, the outdoor mall area where the restaurant is located, on a beautiful Wednesday, early Autumn morning, during the time when the leaves were starting to change colors. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the beautifully designed entrance sign of this outdoor mall to the architectural solid design of the building structure where the restaurant was located, to the beautiful interior design with the use of the color yellow in several tones, and nicely placement of lights to create a very pleasant lighting treatment, this restaurant stood out as a one of a kind, lovely place to have an amazing breakfast or lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As soon as I entered the place, the host welcomed me with a smile and warm greeting and took me to one of the medium size tables centrally located in the restaurant. I very much appreciated this greatly because there is nothing worth than being seated at a small table when the restaurant is hardly full. She also handed me the menus which I quickly began browsing and enjoying. Soon after I sat down, a friendly server with a great personality came by to see what I wanted to drink and answer any questions that I had about the menu. I ordered a cup of coffee, and when she told me their orange juice was freshly squeezed, I ordered a glass of orange juice as well. For breakfast I ordered their Huevos Rancheros: Two eggs over medium, with fresh avocado, pico de gallo, and cilantro served over a bed of smashed black beans, cheddar, feta, and crispy tortilla strips. I also asked her to add two portions of chorizo extra. When the food arrived it looked like a culinary masterpiece and tasted amazingly delicious. I enjoyed every bit of it and my server came by at the appropriate times to see how I was doing and refill my coffee. After having this exquisite breakfast I wanted to end with something sweet so I asked if they had the Peach Crepes, but she told me they were only made on the weekends. So instead I had a Cinnamon Roll: Puff pastry swirled with a rich mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar, topped with cream cheese glaze. Needless to say, it was simply different than any other that I had ever had, and simply delicious! Decided to try this place for New Year's Day breakfast although it was a drive for us, there aren't a ton of breakfast places on the outskirts of Roanoke and I didn't feel like driving downtown. This resturant is located in a strip mall type layout so parking is limiting but we had no issues. There is a bar area and the layout was open. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tall ceilings, modern decor, clean and fresh atmosphere with upbeat happy music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were told we'd have to wait 10 minutes even though there were multiple tables open but it was less than 10 minutes before we were called so no big deal. There are a few wooden benches to sit on while waiting. Our server promptly greeted us, brought drinks and took our orders and then disappeared for most of the rest of the time. We didn't need anything dire but it would have been nice to have the dirty dishes cleared to deter my small children from playing with them. We ordered the kids flap jacks, fruit, egg and bacon which was all very tasty and visually appealing. I ordered the protein power bowl which was not only beautiful when it came out but very tasty. I was apprehensive about the balsamic glaze painted on my eggs but it sort of worked. Coffee was okay, probably not the freshest pot and had a slight char taste. The service was the least appealing part of the experience which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The quality of the food for the price was outstanding. Only $33 for a family of 3 with drinks isn't bad for breakfast. All in all a win. Famous Toastery is worth your time, try it out. read more

One of the best brunch spots in Roanoke! We came here on a busy Sunday morning, but didn't have to wait since we got on the waitlist online. We were seated pretty quickly. I tried the Huevos Rancheros. Our table also got the fresh juices ( I tried the orange). Both were delicious and very filling. Parking is pretty easy since they have a large lot that wraps around the back. The one minor downside I noticed was that the service was a bit inconsistent. Updated on March 3, 2024, because we managed to eat in, and I remembered to take pictures this time. My son and I drove through Roanoke and stopped to dine in. We arrived at 1:00 p.m. and were told there would be a 20-minute wait. We were seated almost 30 minutes later, and I asked the host Jordan if the Hollandaise sauce is gluten free. I have a medical issue and must avoid gluten. She asked and let me know that it is gluten free. We were promptly greeted by our server Thad. We ordered water, and on a whim I ordered the freshly squeezed orange juice. They have a counter top automated juicer. My son ordered the French Toast and Bacon, and I ordered their Famous Hash. The hash is diced corned beef and potatoes with two eggs any style on top with Hollandaise sauce and toast. While we briefly waited for breakfast, I noticed that my glass of OJ separated (picture attached). I used my straw from my water to stir it, and it was fine after that. Breakfast was delivered quickly, and we immediately started eating. In addition to the meals being served, the runner delivered our check. My son enjoyed the French toast and bacon and finished quickly. I really enjoyed the hash as it was hot and flavorful. The Hollandaise was okay, and the toast was good. Although there were plenty of jelly and jam options on the table, I would have liked to have some butter for my toast. Perhaps if there had been time when turning over the table for the next customers, they could have refilled the little dish with pats of butter. I really enjoyed the food, and we left about 2:00 p.m. Service was quick and efficient. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On February 25, 2024, my son and I stopped by for a takeout order. We would have eaten in, but we were in a hurry and the place was packed. My son ordered French toast with a side of bacon, and I ordered the Reuben on GF multi grain bread. The hostess Jordan took my order and understood the precautions that needed to be taken for my gluten intolerance. She ensured that the kitchen was verbally notified in addition to noting it in the order. The Reuben was delicious, and safe for me to eat. My son's French toast was cooked to perfection and consisted of 6 triangles lightly dusted with powdered sugar and syrup on the side. He would have preferred more powdered sugar but otherwise enjoyed it. The three strips of bacon were thick and flavorful. When we have more time, we would love to sit down to enjoy the service and atmosphere. read more

We visited this place with family. We had 9 people and only had to wait a little while for them to push some tables together and then we were sat. My kids loved the waffles with whipped cream and berries. (Sorry I forgot to take a before picture of the waffle).) I got a special: crab omelette with sour dough toast and the potatoes. The omelette was delicious and the toast with butter was good. I asked for the potatoes to be well done because I like the sides to be crispy but they were soft and the same as someone else's order so they didn't do anything special. My husband liked his food and added chorizo to it. Overall we would go again. I would order fruit or something else for my side though. I tried two potatoes and didn't eat the rest so they got wasted unfortunately and I am not a fan of wasting food. :( read more

So not sure why their hash is famous... the eggs were not cooked right, there was very little beef in the hash itself and it wasn't fully cooked. The other dishes, the blue crab egg scramble, was very bland. Eggs were watery not much crab and let much to be desired. It seemed like there was more onions than anything else. We got there on around 1pm on a Sunday. 30 minute wait, but they text you so you can wait in your car. The service was nice and the food was really excellent. Came for an early starter with breakfast. The building was older but looked quite cozy, it wasn't busy at 7 AM yet and we got seated right away. The menu is very accommodating with vegan options and variations. My wife and I decided to go for our classic order of pancakes, eggs and meat. Beginning with the meat, we both got Turkey bacon which was very good, not too crispy. They had many options of meat which was a very pleasant thing. The eggs were ordered over hard and were just on point my only concern was the amount of oil although not excessive still a bit more than expected. As for the pancakes we were very excited to try those flavors, I got the coconut one and my wife got the banana nut. To be quite frank we were a bit disappointed. The pancakes were small, thin and the amount of 'filling' was almost none. They had sugar free syrup though which was good at least. Coffee jug was not left on the table but it was refilled once the servers noticed you were running low on it. The servers were friendly and quick. Mmm, sausage gravy with biscuits. So good! Came here with aşkim and my sister for breakfast because I was really craving some good Southern cooking and I was not disappointed. This is my sister's go to place and we were glad she selected it. Service was team based and it was very fast and friendly. Coffee was great and they offered home made cornbread to start. The biscuits and gravy plate was delicious. Nice big biscuits, fluffy and flaky with tasty gravy. I like pepper in my sausage gravy and this was pretty good (I think I like more pepper than the average bear). If you come on a Sunday, get here before the churches let out or else you'll have a long wait. It can get pretty rowdy (although that might just be the Methodists!) So stopped by on a Sunday with 11 people for a birthday breakfast. And only waited like 35 mins for such a large table. That was fine for me. The servers were great and attentiveness was on point. The only small thing would be the food for one side of the table came out about 5 mins before the second half came out. But I'm sure the kitchen did not have that much room in the window to hold everyone's plates. I have been there and understand. The menu has some great options. And some different options compared to say first watch. The decors and restaurant was very nicely designed. Nice atmosphere. And it was nice to see locals say hi to one another. Interesting place. The whole "everyone is your server!" thing was alright - I like the idea but the implementation need a little work. Often, multiple servers asked us the same questions. Sometimes it seemed like one would assume that another had us taken care of (i.e. refilling drinks, bringing the check) but really no one had, yet. The atmosphere was nice, very bright and lively. Nice outdoor seating area. The food was fresh and very good. Many options available for vegetarians and even healthier options. However, I thought prices were too high for the portion sizes and simplicity of the dishes. This is a place I would return to if someone else was paying. read more

My niece and I came here during the first 'storm" of 24 and unlike that joke of a storm this place was firing on all notes. It was simi packed with other families, couples and singles out laughing at this storm. We were greeted after a small wait in the line to be seated but once we got to the front we were seated right away. This is a modern place with a bar and ols school music pumping at a reasonable level. The server Tim came over quickly to get drinks ordered and go over menu. I got apples juice and sweet tea and my niece got root beer. We also ordered our food I got the breakfast combo with French Toast eggs with cheese and bacon. 12.50 plus 1.25 for the cheese. My niece got the classic flapjacks with bacon. 12.50. Our drinks were 3.50 each except the apple juice was 4.00. The food came out rather quickly and hot. My niece loved how fluffy the pancakes were and the bacon was thick with great bite and chew. My french toast was ok. I personally am not fond of the bread choice but it was cooked to perfection. I have been here twice. The "famous" stuffed toast was only cooked on the outside. The bread in the middle was stuffed with some kind of whipped stuff and three tiny slices of strawberries. $13 Wa not full! Second visit tried the cinnamon raisin French toast. Again not cooked like French toast. Was wheat bread. Three slices of bread for $12. My partner ordered the burrito. It was $10 and was ok. To have meat you had to pay $3 more.
