We stopped here for breakfast before hitting the road . I got a coffee and a couple of eggs sunny side with toast , home fries and bacon and sausage for like 13 bucks. My wife got a veggie omelet that was very small with home fries and bacon for about the same amount . This place is not cheap at all . 3 bucks for coffee as well. I wound up spending 40 bucks on virtually nothing and still feel a bit hungry . Service was great and the food was good. Just everything is small and high priced. Gas in the area is 3.70 gal. I would have give four star buttt I asked for a BLT and the server said those are seasonal and not on the menu. I said"well according to your menu you sell toast, bacon tomato and all I need is a little mayo, I don't need the lettuce". She said "sorry if it's not on the menu we can't fix it". Really... what season is BLT season? I started to order a side of bacon and an order of toast then ask for tomato and mayo and let her watch me put it together. But, she was super nice. I am a regular customer at DENNY'S order late night I ordered 2 build your own burger 1regular with Swiss cheeses, mayonnaise, and all veggie, double patty ... and 1 with NO CHEESE NO MAYONNAISE, with double patty I clearly said am allergic to cheese can't have them please make sure .. well am not mad and I don't mind, I understand sometimes we mess up.. but the last visit got me so MAD.. the fact the assistant manager made my burger mess up.. I call back and he argue with me saying he didn't put cheese on it and he pretty sure he put double patty. And I made a video I have pictures .. I offer can I send u picture??? My family and I stopped here for dinner en route to New York, but this was such a wonderful spot! The service was very friendly and I greatly appreciated the waitress Anessa. I ordered the beyond burger, but didn't initially tell her I was vegan so after having the burger remade without cheese she was kind enough to inform us to let other restaurants in the future know about this since they take special precautions for my dietary need. We stopped in for an early brinner (breakfast-for-dinner) on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised about how fantastically everything was prepared and how great it tasted! I mean, c'mon... Denny's basically amounts to diner food, so expectations are never high, but the cook totally blew our minds and my mom even asked the waitress to "give our compliments to the chef" - because the food was THAT good! The pancakes were substantial, hot, and fluffy, eggs were expertly prepared (it's amazing how many line cooks are incapable of making a simple egg), hashbrowns cooked to our preference, and the bacon was a nice, thick cut. Coffee was really weak but the food and service more than made up for it and I'd be happy to stop back in here any time! read more

Driving back to DC after a weekend reliving your college days in Blacksburg? Stop at Denny's on the way back! It's not far off of I-81 and the service is really good. We actually had better service here than at Poor Billy's the night before -- one of Blacksburg's "finer" dining establishments. Thing to know before you go: I am not sure if this is a company-wide policy or just at this specific location (probably the latter...), but they do not have skim milk. The server was spectacular! The food was FAST and FRESH. We came with an infant and seven year old...yep most servers run when they see us coming! We are vegetarians so we needed a little bit of custom ordering, which the young lady who served us gladly accommodated. The veggie patty mushroom burger and onion rings were hot and fresh, the veggie platter was large and well seasoned and the kids-eat-free Tuesday gave our kids free meals, so pizza and Mac and cheese were a hit! The food was FAST and FRESH. Granted, the salads and other veggie items were standard fare, nothing deluxe, but perfect for the price tag. Actually sitting in Denny's right now not eating the food I ordered. After compromising and just asking the night manager, Adam to heat my plate up in the microwave it still managed to come out cold. But he was cute enough to tell me to be careful because my plate was hot. The hashbrowns, eggs, and gravy were all cold. Nothing even tried being a properly heated temperature. Do the steam tables not work? And as I sit here with my husband and mother who are trying to eat their food although they feel bad since I'm not, I see how amazingly well the grill hoods are cleaned. Manager had a filthy shirt. They make aprons for that. A table was broken. One lady had her hair in a pony tail and she had lots of hair and it was swinging around. The syrup container had what i thought to be butter on its tip. They could have been cleaner and more presentable. Our waitress was cleaning a table and her bar towel was too wet so she ran over to a drain in the floor to squeeze the towel. The food was average. I had to ask for things multiple times. The last time I was at this Dennys I enjoyed my visit. This time is a somewhat different story. I was greeted and seated promptly and my order was taken quickly. That where the good stopped. Twenty-five minutes later I got my food. Which was lucky warm at best. The pancakes were so cold that the butter wouldn't melt. Eggs were cold and bacon while crisp was also cold.The front end of this restaurant is very good but the kitchen is killing it. The food was not worrth the 25 minute wait. We have eaten at more Denny's than we can count, so we know what to generally expect when we go to one. However, that is not what we got when we went to this location for breakfast this morning. The restaurant seemed quite dead and only a couple of servers. Since we had our dog with us in the car (yes the windows were down) we asked if we could sit near a window facing our car. The Certified Trainer/Server/Host immediately said no, but then the Assistant Manager Kelley, said it was fine, and she would serve us. After she took our order, her demeanor and attitude towards us was extremely unprofessional and down right rude. I'm not sure why she was in a bad mood, whether becaue of us requesting a specific table/area to sit, maybe she had to serve because a server called out, or because we only ordered the Super Slam, which is literally the cheapest meal on the menu. Either way, she treated us as a major inconveince the entire time we were there. When my sister went to pour syrup on her pancakes, the pour spout from the bottle fell off onto the pancakes, and so she called Kelley over to let her know. When Kelley suggested she get new pancakes for her, my sister said yes, and Kelley walked away, then made a "these freaking customers" face when she got over to the Certified Trainer/Host/Server when he asked what happened, again acting as if we, paying customers, were somehow a major inconveince to her. Also, I ordered their new Cold Brew coffee, which tasted absolutely disgusting because, and I know this since my husband works at a coffee roastery which makes cold brew everyday, the coffee tasted rancid as if they hadn't cleaned the conainter they made it in properly. Letting coffee sit too long will do that, or just not storing at the right temperature will make it go bad. Anyway, I didn't end up drinking but a few sips of it. Then when all was said and done, Kelley walked back over to our table and asked if we were done, I said "yes", she said "will this all be on one check?" Again I said "yes", she said "good" then placed the already printed check on the table and walked away saying in a very snide and brusk tone as more of an afterthought, "have a good day". Never bothering to ask if I even liked the cold brew or if I wanted to take the rest with me, but having seen that the glass right in front of her was still basically full, she charged me for it anyway. Also, how did she know we wanted it all on one check? I hate to see what she would have done if we had said we wanted three separate checks. We will still definitely go to another Denny's as we know this is not the way most Denny's employees treat guests, but we absolutely DID NOT appreciate Kelley's or the Certified Trainer/Host/Server's attitude towards us, and so if we are ever in this area again, we will be finding somewhere else to eat. read more

Again i tried to give this place a shot and again i was let down. My wife had to get us water i had a sausage link that looked like a shriveled up dead pinky and blueberry puppies that you could ring the grease out of. So needless to say i wont be back until they tear it down and replace it with a new restaurant. read more
