Every time I think of Boston this is one of the first places that comes to mind. Whenever I visit I make a point to stop here. This is the place where I had my first Boston cream pie and I will never forget it. Feneuil Hall dates back to the 1700s and was created as a meeting Hall and marketplace, but later became a very important site for public speeches during the American revolution. You can still feel the history here in the spirit and the gorgeous architecture of the space. Every time I visit it feels so vibrant and alive. It's almost always packed with people and has a great energy. You can find amazing food here and I wasn't joking about my first ever Boston cream pie. I was born and raised on the west coast and it's just not something that we eat out there. Ever since my first bite, if Boston cream pie is an option anywhere, that is the choice I am making. It's so simple, but so delicious! Boston has so much to see and do. There is such a rich history here that it can be hard to choose just a few activities during a visit. I've been lucky enough to visit many times and do many things here and I would still put Feneuil Hall at the top of my list. Between the architecture, the history and the atmosphere, its's definitely a must-do and you could honestly probably move through this one quickly, but it's much better if you take your time, grab something to eat and just let yourself enjoy being part of the city for a little while. read more

National Park Service does a great job with narrated lectures of the hall and informal Q&As from visitors. In our freedom trail tour, we heard about this, so we decided to come back and check it out. We are glad we did, as it was neat to see the paintings, the history of the hall and the history that has occurred in the hall. We were disappointed the third floor artillery display was not available for viewing, as my son was looking forward to seeing it. Evidently the volunteers were not there that day, but we were sorry we were not able to see it. Otherwise, it was a great experience! read more

Great historic building in Boston. Faneuil Hall is a must visit if in town. Located inside a beautiful building with a great facade, Faneuil Hall is standing in the area since 1742 as a place of gathering for people like Samuel Adams and John Hancock to protest the rules and laws of the King pre-Revolution. It continued to be a place for community members to gather, discuss ideas, start protests, trying to make things better in the country. Nowadays, Faneuil Hall is a nice Visitor Center belonging to the National Park Services. It's a free museum dedicated to its interesting past, spread on 2 floors. Lots of great and interesting exhibits here. There are a few shops as well to get souvenirs. Downstairs, there are clean restrooms, water fountains to refill your bottle and benches where you can rest a tad. People meet in front for tours. They have street artists, I usually enjoy that type of the show, but here they were taking over and they were rude to tourists! It opens at 10 am, closes at 5 pm. Great for your own tour of Boston. Beautiful building. It dates back to 1742 and a fun fact it is know as the Cradle of liberty. Part of the larger Quincy market area and is one of the most touristy places in the Boston. Historic Site and many historic speeches given at Faneuil Hall including those by Samuel Adams and Frederick Douglas. You have to stop in and check it out. read more

Another famous landmark when visiting Boston. There were street performers and plenty of shopping to buy Boston memorabilia. The crowds are biggest on the weekends and midday. Best to travel by foot or rideshare because I didn't see open parking lots. read more

I think out of all of the stops along the Freedom Trail, this one is the landmark must-do stop of them all. Not because it's the shiniest or most exciting, but because of the sheer historical value and scope of the events that occurred here. Now, just so you know, the first floor is mostly just shops, a little bit of history, and some other tourist type things. There is a basement with additional historical information, and also the rest rooms, but not much else. The real treasure is on the second floor! This is where the great hall is located, which was the site of some incredible historical events in former years. Don't ask me what they all were, because I'm not from Boston and this is not my area of expertise! LOL! But, believe me, this hall is impressive, and it's definitely a stop you do not want to miss. There are other exhibitions on the higher floors, but we didn't have a ton of time to check them all out. I wish we did, though, as their descriptions looked intriguing. Maybe next time! This is a Boston institution! If you're visiting the city, make sure you check this place out at some point during your trip! read more

I thought this place was just shops, but there's a whole NPS site upstairs that's worth visiting as well. I had missed it on a previous trip. It's a great architectural space. Faneuil and the building both have a long and interesting history (both good and bad) that's worth reading about. There are also some ranger-led events. When I attended, they acted out a suffrage meeting and gave each visitor quotes from the actual event to stand up and speak. It was a fun interactive experience, and the site is free. If you're doing historical sites in Boston this is worth checking out and remember to check out the whole building. read more

This is a MUST visit. I also suggest a reliable guide to walk you through not only the building, but the history and back story of its history. This is under the National Park Service and they do have Rangers that have some tours and programs. Take your time and look for details! A quick history in case American History wasn't your cup of tea (IYKYK). This is often called the Cradle of Liberty. This was the building that held many discussions where the township of Boston took on the King of Great Britain and many other world shaping conversations. It was given to the city to be a multi-purpose civic facility. Shops/market on the ground floor, meeting hall on the 2nd and an armory for the civic defenders on the 3rd. All 3 floors still have something to the original purpose going on today! The 1st floor has many touristy items for sale. The 3rd floor isn't a pure armory anymore but plays homage to those times as it houses the collection from the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts (which is the COOLEST collection of military items from late 1600's to present day says this former US Army Ordnance Major, me). Discussions on the 2nd floor included Taxation, the American Revolution, Slavery Abolition, Civil War, Famous speeches by US presidents and leaders, Civil Rights, Women's Suffrage, Sex/gender equality and many more. Walking upon the wooden floors, touching the hand rails touched by world famous people for nearing 3 centuries, hearing your own voice echo in the meeting room and breathing air scented by lamps of over 275 years ago, it gives me goose bumps. It almost seems this place should be really protected and even made a UNESCO World Heritage site besides it being a National Historic Landmark. read more

A stop on the Freedom Trail that holds a great deal of history. A bit of a tourist trap for sale items and retail, but the lower level has lots of interesting facts about slavery back in the 1600-1700's and was very interesting. There's always some local talent putting in a show outside for cash tips but for us that was more of a distraction than interesting. A stop as visitors should and will make I'm sure. read more

Stopped in while we were walking the freedom trail. Unfortunately we arrived just as one of the docents was concluding his presentation, so we didn't get much out of our visit other than to walk around and see the inside of the hall. This store Faneuil Hall is not really the same as the food Faneuil Hall that's around the corner (which is amazing). This Faneuil Hall is basically a collection of random shops you'd find at a street fair. At least one shop was closed and empty, and the rest (beyond the Irish store) were bland and boring. We walked in, thought we were in the wrong place and spent a couple minutes trying to find the food. So if you're like us and going off of Google, just search for "Quincy Market" and that'll get you going in the right direction. read more

An interesting historical site on the Freedom Trail that, along with some educational pieces, has a few pop-up marker vendors selling Boston items and souvenirs. If you navigate behind the building, you'll find Quincy Hall, which has a huge offering of food vendors and spots to sit and eat. An interesting spot to stop and explore for a bit, though there's less history to see here (unlike other stops on the Freedom Trail), and more shopping/relaxing. read more

In and around the area, it is a very cool place to people watch, from singers and performers. Faneuil Hall is the middle stop on the Freedom Trail and a great place to relax. It serves as a visitor center and information hub for the Freedom Trail. You can pick up maps, talk with rangers, and browse the gift shop. They also have restrooms and a water fountain downstairs. It is also right next Quincy Market which has plenty of dinning options for lunch or dinner along with shopping. The second floor is the museum which pays respect to the history of the building and is also the Great Hall. While the gift shop and visitor center is open most of the day, the museum is only open I. The afternoons so you may want to plan your route accordingly. read more

A bit of a tourist trap in the shopping dinner was well received and refreshing from the bitter spring snow. Always enjoyable to be in a large city and hear 15 different languages being spoken around you at once. A great place/area to stop if ever visiting Boston. Tons of shopping and food options. Parking is very expensive so plan accordingly (we paid like $40 to park in a garage for a few hours). The hall has countless food options (sandwiches, ethnic foods, desserts, toy name it). So there is definitely something for everyone. It can get pretty crazy and crowded. It can be tough to find a table so I suggest someone look for one while the others get food etc. the center area does have some seating upstairs as well. read more

Faneuil hall is one of a few stops where you can use the bathroom while doing the freedom trail. The hall has its bathrooms downstairs. When you go into the building you see small areas to do some shopping. There two or three vendors there at least they were there when I went. They have maps or information about the trail in different languages. It has a little section that you can learn the history of the building. I look forward to visiting it again. read more

Faneuil Hall is not Quincy Market, for those reviewing Quincy Market here...Faneuil Hall was the meeting place of some of the greatest orators in America's early history, including Frederick Douglas, and James Otis and Samuel Adams who led a campaign against the Stamp Act and "Taxation without Representation." Step inside, absolutely! The National Park Service rangers will give you some history (unless you hate "learnin' stuff"), and let you know that the building is used today to perform naturalization citizenship services for immigrants, in such a meaningful place. American History! Oh, and bathrooms and maps, too. read more

Faneuil hall is in the center of everything. Right next to Haymarket mbta train and bus terminal.Plenty of places to eat . Near a lot of hotels walking distance to downtown Boston. It has weekend vendors that sell fresh fruits, veggies, meats and other vendors selling T-shirts along with other goods. Inside of Faneuil Hall there are tons of amazing eateries. The hold outside in the summer months mini amateur concerts, magic and fun and game shows. Faneuil Hall is beautiful just like downtown Boston and other areas. FREE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE FREEDOM TRAIL TOUR We took a National Park Service tour titled "The Freedom Trail Enemies to this Country". Go to the Faneuil Hall website to reserve free tickets. The 75 minute 1/2 mile tour started at the Faneuil Hall Visitor Center and ended at the Old North Church. The tour is capped at 15 people. The tour took us to the Paul Revere House, the Green Dragon Tavern, the site of Governor Hutchinson's house and Hanover Street in the North End. The tour did not include admission to the Paul Revere House or the Old North Church. We learned unusual facts about Paul Revere and his family that went beyond the famous poem and the lanterns in the Old North Church. Near the Old North Church is the Printing Office of Edes and Gill. A costumed printer showed us how the replica printing press worked and demonstrated how colonial printers printed the Declaration of Independence and the famous illustration of the Boston Massacre. Faneuil Hall is a long brick structure in Boston across from Quincy Market. It is an interesting well cared for historical property. It's basically part of a tourist marketplace. The history is the best part though. It is s shame that this placed has been turned into all retail booths for tourists. Although most items are very expensive and overpriced,many are quite interesting. Outside they often have street performers. While we were there we saw an acrobatic act. read more
