Quaint downtown location. I can imagine coming here during Christmas time in the snow to buy…read morechocolate for people. TBE candied apples, taffy apples, etc. I had em at some place in Crystal Lake and am still to make the pilgrimage to Richmond BUFU to the OG Anderson's, but this Barrington location has been there since before covid. Long live chocolate. Expensive AF, but worth it. Life changing really like the first cathode ray TV, MP3s, 4D movies, or being with me. Once you do it, your life is changed. No more taffy apples anywhere else but from here. Hand made. THEY ONLY HAVE THEM APPLES DURING FALL THO. Chocolate covered, taffy, etc.

Their specialty are their candy bars, which is really a misnomer because they are essentially two or more truffles and coated nuts and such all glommed together into a variation of a large turtle. They are far better than any candy bar I have ever eaten. I visit the area two or three times a year from L.A. and always bring my family See's chocolates, which are excellent. The chocolate at Anderson's however makes See's look like Russell Stover--and now I have to bring chocolate from here to California when I visit--it's that good. Their main store is up near the Wisconsin border if you happen to be up that way.

I've learned of this place from my realtor, of all people. When she brought a box of donuts from…read moreMorkes, we knew the place had to have solid mission and pride for their products. My wife and I had always wanted to visit them ever since then and we finally did after about 10 months. The place was small and charming with lots of neeat chocolate creations, as one would expect. We sampled a couple different chocolate pieces and as far as I can tell, they were good. I say that only because I'm not a huge chocolate person, and I don't have a huge gauge on what's good vs great. Since our main purpose of the visit was for donuts, we went ahead and orderes half dozen "premium" donuts. Turns out, the box that was gifted to us was a custom mix of their premium selections, which are fancier donut creations that require a bit more finesse and efforts for them to create. Apparently, you need to order ahead if you want to have a good mix of a dozen, which we didn't know. So we ended up picking from the available ones. They were still a good variety. I don't actively seek out donuts, but if I craved one, I'd definitely seek out Morkes.

I ordered these boards for 2 events that I was throwing. Rosanna, the owner and maker, was such a pleasure to work with. She was organized with all the information I provided, responsive, genuine, and just overall a kind person! I'm definitely gonna get more boards from her for other holidays or events I have coming up. She also delivers right to you and has many charcuterie options, like jarcuterie for example. The actual charcuterie was phenomenal. Candied walnuts, prosciutto, halved dates, spiraled salami, pitted cherries, cheeses galore - the meat & cheese board was robust to say the least. The sweet board was sweet tooth heaven. Brownies, chocolate covered everything, Rice Krispies, various cookies, and more. Needless to say, the charcuterie boards were a HIT at my event. Seriously using any excuse just to come here and get more boards. Support women owned & local and order some bomb charcuterie from here!

The board was arranged beautifully from every angle with a mix of cheeses, crackers, meats, chocolate, cookies, olives, and fruits. I really like the effort that was put into including a variety of meat arrangements, cheese shapes, colors, flowers, and other components that made this a stunning work of art to look at. Fortunately, the board tasted just as good as it looks! I found that overall the flavors were a bit more muted, so that you can graze on this over time without feeling fatigue by being bombarded with strong flavors. I feel this may also be to ensure that the components are attractive to a wide audience. Overall, this definitely is worth buying if you're looking to entertain or hold a special event.
