What an awesome, full featured confectionery shop. The prices aren't cheap but you can tell with every bite that you're getting delicious, high quality treats. The decor in here is super cute, with all the different products being displayed in an organized and attractive manner. This alone makes this a more fun shopping experience than buying candy from a standard grocery store. At times, it may be difficult to determine the price of different items, but the staff is very helpful with helping shoppers navigate their way around the store. There is definitely something for everyone here, but this is especially good if you are a chocolate lover as there's a very wide assortment of available options here. This is particularly true if you're into truffles, with some interesting options such as jalapeno margarita, tiramisu, rum, and others in addition to the usual selection of fruit, coffee, caramel, etc. flavors. This is also a great spot to get interesting looking gifts. Outside of the usual gift boxes and tins, you'll find chocolate in fun shapes (like birthday cake), seasonal confection options with cute decorations, pretzels, nuts, chocolate pops, gummies, and more. My husband and I came to Long Grove Confectionery after trying their chocolates from Jewel. We wanted to try it from the source. There is a wide variety of chocolate, donuts, and other confections to choose from. A true chocolate lovers paradise. We got the chocolate dipped cookie sandwiches and peanut butter meltaways. I have been going here for many years but it had been awhile and I didn't know they had moved. I thought they were gone for a minute when I saw a different Buisness in the old building. Luckily I checked Yelp to see if they moved and they did. The confections here are great. I have long been a fan of their chocolate and love their chocolate covered strawberries. I used to pass their store downtown many years but I always wanted to go the "real store" in Long Grove. Many years later, I was working in the area and decided to veer off the beaten path and finally go. I went to the store and bought a few pieces of caramel candy because I was also going to the bakery as well. I went to the bakery and ordered some of their absolutely delicious apple cider donuts. A few days later, I decided to try the caramels, they were rich and absolutely mouthwatering. I was so sad that I hadn't bought more. It's hard to go back to buying bagged candy with caramel and having theirs. It was most certainly worth the wait, that trip and a few more as well. read more

A gem in Long Groves quaint downtown. This place provides a consistently good product that has brought my family to make an annual trip every fall to stock up on Channuka gelt and assorted candy gifts for friends. In the last couple years they moved locations about a block from the one I first knew. But the move seems to have let them expand their offerings and add a coffee shop. The coffee was OK but the pull is definitely the candy. They sell Channuka gelt by the 1/2 Lb and it's so much tastier than the plastic tasting stuff that's so common this time of year. We use the opportunity to buy chocolate gifts for teachers and friends. It's definitely a hike unless you live near it, but it's become our tradition. :) read more

The storefront is a 40 year old replica of the old Long Grove school house, which was originally located on this spot in this now quaint, historic, and now somewhat rustic/touristy shopping enclave. We came here to the retail location after seeing a tour of their chocolate assembly line production facility 10 minutes away. We bought a couple of chocolate covered strawberries for $3.37 as a mini-treat, and I can't really speak to relative pricing/value since we normally never buy stuff like this. read more

This is the best store as far as Long Grove confectionerys are concerned... going to one in the mall is not like walking into the store in Long Grove! The smell of the chocolate gets you the minute you open the door! YUM! As for the selection, it's great. The strawberries, cherries, filled chocolates, etc... you can just smell it all most of it is delicious! They've even got a pretty decent selection of sugar free chocolates. The only thing I'd complain about is that the don't have much in the little kid affordability line in their store. When we stopped in to get some chocolate for us, my husband and I were surprised to find that though we could get a little package of gummy worms for them, there were about 4 in the package and it was $2.00... that it a ridiculous amount. My guess, they do chocolates not gummies, but it was disappointing to find that if kids are with their parents the paren't have to fork over quite a bit to get a non-chocolate treat for their kids. This store brings back many happy childhood memories. Even as an adult, I am still in awe watching the vats of chocolate turn, homemade fudge being poured and manipulated, and just breathing the air of yummy chocolate. There is really something unique and special about this store. It feels as if time has stopped and you are taken to place in time that is only yours. I love that they sell old fashioned candy in glass jars, marshmallow ice cream cones, button candy, peppermint sticks, and all the things that make you wish that pillows were really made out of cotton candy and that Willy Wonka really exists! Their hand dipped strawberries are divine! What a cute little candy store! This whole frickin town just screams "POSTCARD!!!" I received an email from Amazon Local giving $10 off any deal. And guess what, LGCC was offering a $10 deal for $20 worth of goodies. Wait, did I just get $20 free? Sure did! I don't know if they did that as a promotion or what, but Ashley and I took advantage of Amazon's stupidity and enjoyed our coconut chocolate buckets, gummy bears, peanut butter Easter eggs, and dark chocolate bars. It was all VERRRRYYYY good. They have other foods that aren't candy as well. The trail mix looked awesome, as did the mixed nuts. One tip of advice, wear a noseplug, or bring a set amount of money you want to spend. This place definitely has a lot of variety and delicious chocolates. I really enjoyed their chocolate covered espresso beans. Their version of dark chocolate is delicious. However one of my favorite things to get here is the dark chocolate covered Apple cider doughnut. Disappointed to say that when I came today they didn't have it. When I asked the young lady at the counter why she said that the baker just hasn't had time to make it because they were focusing on making caramel apples. For people who don't always have the time to come every weekend it was something I was Looking forward to getting again. I ended up buying a few things and got a half dozen apple cider doughnuts to go. I have to say that they were a bit greasy and not really crispy in anyway. I have tasted a lot of apple cider donuts in my time. It tasted OK but definitely not the best apple cider doughnut I have ever had. However if it was dipped in dark chocolate I would've liked it a lot more. I would give this place a try again next time I am in town. The plus side is the coffee shop right next-door to them that is also owned by them has delicious drinks. I tried the Apple cider latte and that was very good! There is a little viewing window in the store where you can watch people dip the strawberries in chocolate. Three words... CHOCOLATE DIPPED STRAWBERRIES! These things are AMAZING! I live about an hour away from here and will specifically make a trip for these berries. I have yet to find another place that makes them better. I have no clue how they get them to be so juicy inside. They also do chocolate truffles that are fantastic! Small and cute store.
