The biggest issues have been consistently poor customer service, an unwelcoming atmosphere and prices that are often higher than nearby competitors. One major concern that has always bothered me is hearing employees gossip and make petty disparaging comments regarding local customers and other businesses. It's unprofessional and doesn't inspire confidence, trust or reflect good character. I've heard similar stories from others over the years. You can find anything online for less these days and half the appeal of a local gun shop is building relationships and enjoying the experience but I've never found that here. This has been consistent with the old and new ownership- I've been treated with more courtesy at Walmart. The best way I can describe this shop's vibe is this: it's basically a high school locker room- except it's full of all the people that nobody likes and who probably don't like you. Even firearm and NFA transfers (which should be straightforward) have been unpleasant enough here that I have absolutely no reason to walk in there. Over time, most of the people we know have quit doing business there for one reason or another, myself now included. There are plenty of decent firearms retailers in North Idaho staffed by people who treat you like they appreciate your business and your time.

Alpine is right in the ski village (along with a store in Sandpoint proper), and had signs on their door for *40% off demo skis*. After skiing for most of the day, I walked into Alpine and found a super nice pair of Atomic Vantage 97ti 180 skis. The skis were used as demos, but they looked almost brand new. Told them I wanted them, and were immediately sent to waxing/tuning. I also asked about my boots and was setup with arch support. All in all, I had a fantastic experience here and will come back next year. BUY LOCAL!

The mineral specimens that are "affordable" for the average person, there's signs everywhere stating to "do not touch", which I get. There's a lot of specimens that are very delicate, but the people who usually go to such places, know how to handle minerals. My husband's $18 salad was so tiny and it came with two rolled up slices of deli turkey and I dont even know how much the add on was for turkey. My salad was tiny as well as a tiny tea cup of soup. Total was $48 for very small portions. I wouldn't recommend for that reason alone but worth the 4 star rating if you are looking for good food that is light and refreshing that you don't mind paying extra for though.
