Unfortunately, they don't have historical tours but they do have tours on foot and it was not feasible for me to do after having a surgery on my hip & leg - still healing. So I browsed the store for a long period and had the most fun with using the coin operated crystal vending machine. For two quarters you can get one to three crystals with a turn of the knob on the machine. I was lucky to get three crystals several times. You don't know how many or what kind of crystals you will get, yet it is fun, and the crystals make a great gift to give to people. I got a lot of green aventurine crystals and crystals I usually would not select like dalmation jasper & a dull moonstone. It was a steal since most crystals are $1-3 each for the sizes I received of these crystals. Alyssa was very engaging and stellar in providing me information and generating more sales effortlessly - just by answering all my questions and showing me different rings stocked inside the ring display. She was delightful, memorable, and helped me select the perfect rings to wear on my index and third finger. I got 3 rings for $24.99. Other items I purchased was: money attraction incense & oudh resin in a glass bottle for incense, unique oracle cards with funny yes & no answers, stickers, a pamphlet detailing all the places where television series and movies were filmed at in Wilmington, North Carolina, and post cards. The postcards were only $1. I should have bought a book there that I thought I already had. The book is The Ghosts of Old Wilmington by John Hirchak. The book is signed by the writer. I had two ghost books about Wilmington but it was not that one. Yet it is another reason I should go back to The Black Cat Shoppe. I plan to come back here and go on their tours later in the future. This is a place I plan to visit again the next time I come to Wilmington, North Carolina.

We came across the old bank vault and were fascinated by it. I loved seeing history preserved in new times. Such a cool thing to honor that.

True the prices are a little high but it's a small tourist town. I did notice not all employees were wearing a smile but thank goodness the one girl I got was sweet. I got coffee ice cream and the container was almost empty but she scrapped the bottom and got every bit out that she could. Since it was not quite enough she topped it off with the Cappuccino crunch. She even handed me napkins. It's because of her and the taste of the ice cream they get five stars. As you can see we all got some. We had such a fun day and the best part was stopping in for ice cream.

I only had a hour in this store before it closed. Not enough time to see everything, yet I had a pleasant time browsing items in this store. The store has a skeleton in a chair greeting you at the entrance and a meerkat as its symbol & mascot. A meerkat is a mongoose from South Africa. The lady at the shop was very kind and gave me a sticker of the shop. I saw on the sticker a meerkat dressed in Victorian clothing. Inside the store is an enchanting tea & coffee bar. After scanning the teas offered in the store to drink today, I wish I had sampled the DRAGON'S HOARD, SMOKY BLACK TEA they had. It has a blend of Black Tea, Lapsang Soushong Tea, Cocoa Nib, Allspice, Cinnamon, Cloves, Carob, Calendula, Cornflower, and Safflower. Lapsang Soushong tea is my favorite tea and has a unique smoky flavor. Very difficult to find and only in specialty high end grocery stores or teahouse places. I purchased two dragon bloodstones for $3 each before the store closed. The store's highlights: A tea & coffee bar with unique tea blends and a sitting area to drink & converse. It was the first time I ever saw and found a bone throwing divination kit for purchase in a store. It had a scan code beside it to learn how to use the bone kit as well. They offered small kits for $9.99 and large kits with an instruction book for $39.99. If you want a ready made divination kit, these are ideal. Most of the items in the store had scan codes to link you with information of the merchandise being sold. The store has an assortment of occult jewelry with Lilith sigils and rare occult symbols. I never see this in a metaphysical store. The bookshelves area has a LBGQT & Sex Magic section. Wild! The sticker with a meerkat - a great idea to give to store patrons and definitely makes the shop visit memorable with this unique memento. Kind & helpful customer service Madame Meerkat's Cabinet of Curiousities is the place to see if you want to have a one of a kind experience in a metaphysical store.

I happened to be standing behind a local with whom she was having a nice conversation, I waited patiently for them to finish, they were having a discussion on facial care products. It was sweet and the cashier was very responsive and friendly. After a fairly long wait, I greeted the cashier. The reception was cold, unwelcome, almost to the point that I wanted to put the items back, but had expectant grandchildren behind me. I really like the contents of the shop and it's displayed very nicely. Some time spent on customer friendly service will make a tremendous difference.

It may be a good idea to bring your own seats and side table if you want to do extra work. Four food trucks were lined up on one side: Rude Bwoys, Italian Ice, Gusty Peruano, and another one. There was a short line for Gusty Peruano. The pager they gave us notified us when the food was ready, took less than 15 minutes. Food was great, although expensive. The Smashburger was delicious, but the fries were on the softer side. Causa a la Limeña was good too. We didn't get drinks since there was an extremely long line, but when we initially arrived, there was no line. So if that happens to you, take advantage of that while you can. The DJ was starting to set up right when we were leaving. There were some cornhole boards. Didn't see any bathrooms or porta potties. Gusty Peruano made it worth it to visit, otherwise, not sure if I would be back.
