Ordering at the counter was very simple and it was casual. They only do takeout and counter service. They also only do one type of doughnut, a simple plain glazed doughnut. However, they do it very well. They have the option of ordering single donuts, bags of six, and bags of a dozen. Also, they have tax baked into the price, which I loved. No fiddling with coins! The actual line to order was very short, but then people wait around the shop for their name to be called. My donuts came out piping hot, and I was so excited to try one. Someone in my group called them funnel cakes with glaze, which was a perfect way to describe them. They are light, fluffy, and it's very easy to eat an infinite number of them. Overall, I would say this place is definitely worth stopping into. For the price and quality, you really can't beat it. I'd imagine they get really busy during tourist season and that the wait gets much longer, so just be ready for that. Definitely worth waiting for. On a Sunday morning in June the wait time was about 30 minutes, but it's air conditioned inside if you can find a seat. The counter people are nice and the donuts are light and fluffy. Many customers were getting multiple dozens ($13 per). They've been doing it here since 1939, so obviously what they're doing is working. No wifi and no call ahead orders. My sister was raving about this place so we had to try their donuts. They specialize in just one type of donut, glazed. And it's not your regular donuts. The batter they use is different than Krispy Kreme or Dunkin donut. I want to say it's similar to funnel cake. The donuts are delicious but I would recommend eating them the same day. If you leave them for the next day, they become soggy unlike KK or DD's donuts. However, if you own an air fryer, pop them in there, it will bring the donuts back to life. Family owned and operated with amazing customer service even with a line out the door that wraps around the boardwalk. You can see into the little kitchen where the donuts are made. They close during the off-season. The only flavor that they offer is glazed so if you are looking for donuts with more flavor options than I recommend Wake N Bake Donuts also in Carolina Beach by the Food Lion near the bridge. They taste the best when they're freshly deep-fried. You can tell the difference when it's been sitting out for a bit after being cooked. It just doesn't taste as good and doesn't melt in your mouth. Regardless, it is a cheap donut and it satisfies my sugar glazed donut craving. I can never just eat only one at a time, so I usually get at least half a dozen. Depending on the time and day how busy it gets will fluctuate. It's always very busy on opening weekend. But on a Friday early evening in the first week of June, there were barely any people and no wait. Still cash only. The prices have increased slightly over the years but still cheap. If you plan on having these for breakfast I recommend coming at 8:00 to get in line. By 8:30 on a summer Tuesday there were probably 50-60 people in line! I got there at 8:10 and was about 15th in line and it took about 10 minutes to get my donuts after they opened, not too bad at all. These donuts may just be life changing. Eat these with caution because every other donut you have will be a letdown after consuming these. Definitely eat them while still hot, but they're still pretty good later in the day.
