Really enjoyed this place. The bagel was put together well, and everything tasted super fresh. I got the Asiago bagel, and it had just been restocked on the bagel wall, so it was nice and fresh. The chicken was juicy, not dry at all, and everything went really well together. They were also generous with the avocado, which was a nice surprise since a lot of places barely give you any. The only downside was the wait. We stood in line for about 15 minutes, and it took almost another 20 minutes for our food to come out. That said, everything was made fresh, so it was worth the wait. The price was fair for the amount of food you get, and I'd definitely come back whenever I'm craving a good bagel. read more

Flat! Overpriced! Tourist trap! I'm a local. I grew up in Carolina and Kure beach, but I lived in New York for a few years. These bagels are flat, dry, and way over priced. Just across the bridge is a far superior bagel shop, Seaside bagel. That place is run beautifully. There, the service is better, quicker, and you have the sense they are eating a real New York bagel. I've given Island bagel 5 tries now and they unfortunately disappoint me every time. The bacon egg and cheese is so dry that you have to order cream cheese on it and that puts one BEC well over $10. I am not the kind of person to completely toast a bagel shops in their reviews, no pun intended, but when I see bagel injustice, I must do something. Today I walk away, still hungry and disappointed again. For the last time. My advice, make the extra trip across the bridge for five minutes and go to Seaside bagel. I also have not seen a single local go into this place. They are not friendly, or good, but they are convenient if you live in CB. That's about all I can say. read more

Great bagels and a calm morning. This is a walk up bagel shop with coffee and all sorts of bagels. I ordered the bacon, American cheese and scallion cream cheese everything bagel. This was the first thing I had while being at Carolina Beach and it definitely did not disappoint. Being from New York I definitely am very picky about my sausage, egg and cheese but this one definitely did not disappoint. The bagel was definitely giving and everything bagel. I feel like sometimes bagel shops. Don't put enough seasoning on it, but this one did. The coffee was also good. It was a little strong, but nothing too Splenda's can fix. We are visiting Carolina beach and chose this place based on reviews. I wish we didn't listen! The hashbrowns are legit like cardboard, super thin and hard to chew. I got an everything bagel with sausage egg and cheddar, my husband the lox. Both were pretty bad as you can see in the pictures. My daughters got the blueberry with strawberry cream cheese and they were somewhat better but still, I don't get the hype. I'd avoid this place, McDonald's would've been better. read more

It'll do ... the bagels taste like from the grocery store...the store feels sterile. Its not the fastest, tastiest, cheapest or anything really. Went to this shop and had a very unpleasant experience. We waited over 20 minutes to get our order with no rationale provided. Others were served and we were not given a reason for the delay. Then ultimately when we asked for a refund instead the manager went to the back and got our order which by then we were too frustrated. Why could he suddenly get our order when we had waited for so long?!He did not give us a refund and instead asked me to step outside and raised is voice at me. I had to in turn raise my voice to let him know this was not appropriate. He said he would process my refund later today but I don't believe it. I had a nice BEC (bacon egg cheese) from here. I like that it was (at least for me) the perfect amount of egg and bacon in every bite and the sandwich wasn't too thick. Also, I believe the bacon was freshly prepared on a stove top which is an added bonus (no microwave bacon). There are a variety of cheeses to choose from- I had cheddar. The bagels themselves are good. We found the elusive chocolate chip bagel that is almost impossible to get these days. While we were excited about the find, we did note that the bagel was lacking a hardy amount of chocolate chips. As simple as it was, Island Bagels was my favorite breakfast place while visiting Carolina Beach. We did a to-go order one weekday morning. Since we had our dog, I stayed outside with her while my husband placed our order. While we were waiting for our order, one of the staff brought out a small bowl of water for our dog, as well as a dog treat (Beggin' Strips). How sweet and thoughtful! I got a jalapeño-cheddar bagel with egg and cheese, and my husband had their King Neptune. Their bagels are big and yet thin, and just perfect for egg sandwiches. My bagel was nicely crispy and had a ton of flavor, and the egg and cheese were just perfect. I eat lower carb nowadays, but this bagel was most definitely carb-worthy! My husband loved his King Neptune. It looked like such a mishmash to me (with eggs, provolone, bacon, sausage, cream cheese, jalapeño, onion, and hot sauce), but he said the flavors melded quite well. If you are looking for a great to go breakfast place, look not further! The breakfast bagels/sandwiches are delicious and will hit all the right spots! They serve other items like coffee and breakfast pastries. As for the coffee, they only serve regular coffee and no specialty drinks at the time of this post. Wow! What a find! This was actually pick five after walking around Carolina Beach looking for breakfast. We got a late start and walked the resort, places were either closed or wait line too long. After four stops we decided to get into our car and drive to Island Bagel. We were so glad! These bagels are melt in your mouth delicious! Cream cheese (if requested) is generous, I actually had to ask them to cut back on day two. This is one of the former Mr. Bagel Meisters. They were franchises and each was purchased by the owners. New owners, not the same. There was something special about Island Bagels before - creative bagel sandwich options, the funny posters, the staff and the way they welcomed you in the door. Under the new ownership the entire place is sterile - blue and white, no personality in the place whatsoever. The care and personalization of IB is gone. And so is the menu. Very limited options. They don't sell the t shirts anymore. It used to feel like waking into the ladies kitchen where they couldn't wait to craft you something special. I was so sad to see the "women owned business" sticker gone from the front door. The intangibles (and the tangibles like the awesome menu) of what made this a special place to grab a bagel sandwich is gone. Grabbed two bagel sandwiches and a bagel and cream cheese with my kids. Absolute BEST bagels I have had so far!! Walked in and immediately was greeted! The bagel wall is a must see for bagel lovers ! Donna was at the register & she was so welcoming and helpful. Told her I was a first timer and her eyes light Ike it's joy and helped me. Decided on a bacon, egg and cheddar cheese on a Asiago Bagel. Mannnn! The order was done fast, sandwich was hot and toasty and the cheese was Ouuie & gooie! Bacon crisped to perfection too. There are gluten free option btw. The bagels aren't huge and thick. They're basically perfect one every way! For my sandwich and a bottled drink it was $10.50. As I sat inside to eat, Donna came by and offered me a sample of the Everything Bagel. I know Island Bagels has some pretty stellar Yelp reviews already so I won't bore you by talking about how delicious the bagel of the day was yesterday or how well constructed the breakfast sammy is though both are absolutely true. Instead, let's talk accessibility. My wife and I ran to Island Bagels and were pretty, pretty hungry when we arrived. I walked in wearing my super cool, reflective running vest that says "blind" on the front and had notable difficulty reading the chalkboard menu. After taking a moment to process the situation, Island Bagels employees swung into action, grabbing and sharing one of their freshly printed menus so I didn't have to struggle to read from a distance. It was awesome and very much appreciated. Too often, when people notice others struggling with accessibility challenges, they freeze up and fail to check in to see if an assist would be appreciated. I should also say that staff had some wonderful and delicious suggestions like swapping out fries for hashbrowns so my sandwich could smoosh down more efficiently and better fit into my gaping maw. This was my last stop before leaving from Fort Fisher and I was very satisfied with our visit. I wanted some breakfast food that wasn't fast food, and I left very satisfied. I ordered through the drive thru since the inside is closed due to covid-19. I ordered two different bagels, the first one with turkey sausage and pepper jack cheese on a fire house bagel. There were huge chunks of jalapeno inside the bagel which I absolutely loved! It was spicy with a lot of flavor, and definitely something to order again. My other order was a french toast bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The cream cheese was delicious, it reminded me of a strawberry milkshake. Day trips to the beach call for a visit to Mr. Bagel Meister. The number one thing I look for in a bagel spot is variety, and Mr. Bagel Meister did not disappoint. My husband is originally from New Jersey, so bagels are a part of his food pyramid. He is also particular about where to go to eat and/or order a dozen. The bagels were a great size, especially for a breakfast bagel sandwich, and tasted delicious! Loved this spot!!!! The bagels were HUGE and so soft , reminded me so much of the bagels I had in NY. We went back twice in one weekend to get two bakers dozen because we couldn't get enough. Also, just for aesthetics I think the bagels hanging on the wall is really really cool and creative! definitely want to go back if for nothing else just to try the lunch sandwiches named after different cities around Carolina beach. My personal favorite bagel was the spinach and pepper jack, it was out of the world! Went here based on other Yelp reviews. First off, love any place on the island with free and plenty of parking. Went shortly after they opened on a Sunday so was not crowded and service was quick and friendly. They had a wide variety of bagels to choose from and a "Bagel of the Day" . I went with a classic bacon, egg and cheese on a jalapeño bagel. It was very tasty, easy to eat (I hate when everything falls off and apart) , and the bagel was toasty yet also had the perfect about of chewiness. Had a few tables inside and out if you wanted to enjoy it there but seems most people grab them to go. Worth a visit on your next trip to the island. read more
