I did my first pickup today. It was a contactless pickup in Buffalo. I was SHOCKED when I got there and there were so many cars lined up for this event. I got there 15 minutes after it started and waited over an hour in my car. Regardless, this surpassed my expectations when I got home to check my items. There were choices of 3 separate boxes. I ordered one of each for a total of $65 ($10, $25. &$30) I will definitely go to another event, and I plan on checking out the actual location in New Hope! read more

They buy meat poultry veggies dry goods IN BULK JUST like all the grocery stores!! But in this case they package a variety of meats etc and offer them in pre-packed FROZEN boxes for about $30 -- my guess value is approx almost double. They also offer a fresh veggie pack for $20 approx. TO TOP THINGS OFF ... they COME TO YOU!! Yes, go online and see their mind blowing schedule where THEY TRUCK/ hand deliver these boxes ALL over metro Minneapolis St Paul and MNY OUTTER COMMUNITIES !!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Who does this?! I'm dissapointed because of the apparent drop in food quallity as of late, but am still a fan. Fare for all is a shop that's only open on Mondays (every other Monday recently....whaich may be part of the problem) housed in a corner of the Emergency Food Shelf Network building in New Hope. They sell grocery packages, and there are a few options: Vegetarian, regular, family, meat only and sometimes Holiday packaes which add seasonal specialties and desserts. In any case, they set up an example att he entrance of what each pkg includes, and you just go grab the matching box or bag (or both) for what you're going with and check out. There's no checking the contents to pick & choose. The meat, I've never had a problem with. Sometimes it's close to expiration, but It's always well frozen. The fruits and veggies the past two times I have one there though, have been (lettuce, onions & grapefruit) obviously on the way out. That can be dissapointing. In addition to the package deals (which, IF you can eat everything in them, IS a good bargain) they have some meat and staples on sale for a low cost ($1 turkey dogs, chx nuggets, rice, beans, fruites, peanut butter, spaghetti, TP, Etc.) . As a bonus, all orders over $15 (or so) get to take something off the table on the way out (usually loaded with breads and sometimes random snacks or kid's treats). The good: -Purchases here benefit the bulk buying power of the local food shelf...helping them save money, and help more people in need. -Easy quick shopping trip (if you're not picky)! -They take credit cards and usually have quick check out -Not expensive The not so good: -Questionable freshness of some fruits and veggies. -Not open often (it's smart to check online first if it's out of your way....sometimes even on Mondays they are not open, lately). It's worth knowing about, if you live anywhere nearby, or are the type of person who loves to avoid grocery store shopping and wants to shop with one quick dash. BTW...If you don't get the bread, snacks or even milk you want there, there's a Hostess outlet a couple minutes away on Boon you can stop at for the rest of your bargain groceries. read more

i went to Fare for All for the first time yesterday and left with nothing. What a joke. Some clever person is collecting lousy veges, old bakery items, and close to expiration mostly processed meat and selling it to "mostly" low income folks. This pre-packed "deal" is no better than a person could get buying the food they really want either on sale at rip off Rainbow, Cub or any day at Aldi. This is shameful - they target and overcharge the low income sector just like Kmart. read more

Did this for the first time yesterday just to see what it was all about and I was pleased with my purchase and the whole process. I got the holiday pack for $30 and I got a turkey, a chicken, ham steak, cranberries, pie, bag of corn and pork tenderloin. Most of the dates were expired but only by days and it was all frozen solid. There was a huge line but the process was fast and efficient. I would do it again. read more

I paid $10. for the fare for all veggie pack. I was disappointed when I got celery that was yellow. Not much to the pack and I could get more for $10.00 elsewhere. The only good thing was the green giant potato at 5lbs. 5 red pears which are still hard, small oranges and tiny apples. A very small bag on onions. read more

Fare for All is the best thing that has ever been done for this community! I am on a fixed income and with them I can make it to the end of the month now. Everything is tasty and and I have NO complaints what so ever! ! Maybe those who found it wanting have never gone hungry-usually its people under 35, and maybe they don't realize that even though these groceries may be getting toward the experation date but they are still good tasting. I often wonder if people who complain have such sheltered lives they have no awareness of those of us who couldn't make it without the help?? These products come from major grocery chains who wanted to help.. Ending hunger is easy if all of us would help. Think about it!! Its easy to complain-figure out a solution instead. Agree with other reviews. This was my second time going to fare for all. First time I got a veggie box. Multiple items were squished and moldy. Today I got the holiday pack and veggie pack. Veggie pack was same terrible quality; squished and moldy items. The holiday items were not moldy or squished as they were frozen; however, ALL the meat items were EXPIRED by at least 1 week with the frozen ham being 2.5 months expired! Fare for all bills itself as bulk buying for the community. This is clearly misleading as the company has changed business model to: obtain expired food from ALDI's(label on ham) or other stores and than sell to some schmuck. You need to avoid this place like the plauge, as I'm afraid that's what my family will get from eating the expired food!! read more

I'm rather shocked at the previous reviews posted. I can't believe that we are talking about the same place! I started with Fare for All about 3 years ago, going to the Express site, in the beginning. Later on, we discovered the Warehouse site in New Hope and started going there, as you have choices beyond the prepackaged "packs" there. I have been extremely happy with it, all this time. I carefully check the prepackaged packs,before purchase, as some of the items may not be things we would use. If so, I skip them that time. The meat is always completely frozen and goes directly to my freezer at home. The produce, for sale, is always fresh. In fact, my husband thinks that the pears are the best he's had. Often lately, I find myself purchasing individual items, as opposed to the "packs" as some of the items contained would notwork for us. I did purchase the "monthly special" in December as it contained a spiral cut ham. We had had their ham in the past and it was the best we ever had and I specifically went there to get it. At the Warehouse, they have a small selection of non-perishable grocery items (canned soups, vegetables, rice, pasta, oil, sugar, flour, etc.), that I take advantage of. I look forward to going every two weeks and wait until I see what is available, before I purchase anything elsewhere. Many times, they have items that are totally free and you can take as many as you wish. This, so far, has been vegetables and fruit, that could be getting "ripe" but hey, it's free. The bananas they offered -free- went into banana bread for gifts at Christmas. They have had free tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, just to name a few. And, in the fall, they had free school supplies, "take all you need". I highly recommend Fare for All. I will continue going there for as long as I can. It has greatly helped our food budget.
