This restaurant is close to castle sforza and is most definitely a tourist trap. But we were tired and hangry, and it was still good food. There was no wait as we had a late lunch about 2pm. The temperature inside the restaurant was good considering how warm it was outside. The restaurant is beautiful in the dining room, but gives no extras. We got aperol spritz, sparkling water, lemon pasta with clams, and ravioli. The water we received was flat, not sparkling. Many of the calms did not open. The pasta was good, I wish they had at least served some bread with the coperto. The waiter never came back around or we might have ordered dessert. Oh well. The lemon pasta was bright with lemon flavor and the calms brought a bit of savory flavor, but they didn't seem to add flavor to the actual sauce, they maybe cooked separately. This is a nice looking place and the food that people were eating looked good. We were seated right away and from there the service was pretty choppy. We ordered bruschetta which was pretty good. We had one piece left and the server took it as we weren't finished (so our entrees didn't come out). We were able to communicate that we wanted to keep it and still have our entree served. I came here on a recommendation from our tour guide and ended up eating here twice. I had the margarita pizza one night and the gnocchi another. Both were delicious. There was no wait to get a table. We walked by at lunchtime, it was packed, had a nice vibe, and we liked the menu so we decided to try it for dinner since we were going to be close by. We were a bit concerned that it was close to touristy stuff, but no regrets! Food was delicious and hot -- gnocchi and cacio e pepe; insalata mista was fresh and cold. Wow. Don't come near the afternoon "siesta hour"! We made that mistake, and not only was the food mediocre at best--and my husband's Special of the Day lukewarm--but the server forgot most of that Special order. Eventually, when we were able to get his attention, the guy found the missing pieces of Paul's meal, but it was really not worth remembering, probably because it had been sitting around for a half-hour in some corner of the kitchen. He couldn't eat it because the taste was as off as the temperature. We noticed that the price of the meal included a tip--10 percent for lunch, built in as a service charge. The lack of service made sense then--no matter how bad it was, the server still got a tip, which is relatively rare in Italy. If you ignore your customers, no biggie; you still get full pay. I had the specialty appetizer of the fried bread, and it was just a basket of...fried bread. Not very tasty, but not outright inedible like Paul's Special. Maybe we came on a bad day (weekday), or maybe we really were infringing on the middle hours when nobody wants to be working. As much as I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, I won't return for a second impression; there are too many good restaurants in Milan for me to go to one that's as overpriced and underwhelming as this one. read more

Everytime i go to this place i was facing with couple of minor problems, the last visit was more than horrible. First, i had to wait 1 hour (without exaggeration) for a pizza, then i had to wait 20 minutes to pay the bill. Finally, after 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting time in total, when i reach to the cashier, i was lacking 40 cents to pay the total bill. I asked to the cashier if he can accept without 40 cents, as a reply he told me that he will call the police to get that 40 cents. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and terrible. After a long flight and arriving in Milan, the one thing I was looking forward to was to do some shopping. Just 1.5 hours from the Milan Airport is the [outlet name]. Here you'll find your typical outlet stores such as Burberry, Gucci, Prada etc along with Italy's finest stores. I'm not writing this review for the outlet but I am for the restaurant I went to for lunch. Farinella located in the center point of the outlet is an Italian restaurant/cafe serving traditional Italian cuisines for the customers needing a good days feast from shopping. This restaurant is split into two parts: 1) the cafe and 2) the restaurant. Once you walk in you get the choose which you want to go for. The cafe is more of an express coffee shop with easy access to pizza slices, bread and pastries. The restaurant itself is sit down and waited. The menu consist of a large list of fresh oven baked pizza's, tradition pasta dishes and appetizers. Being my first trip to Italy, I was naive enough to order a spaghetti dish. The typical all-american dish. Why? Well i didn't know any better. The portion was ginormous and the sauce was very fresh. The seasoning was just right and the dish was very hot. I also ordered a personal size meat pizza which consisted of Italian sausages, prosciutto and Italian herbs. It was not a personal size. it was more of a two person dish. You can definitely tell it was cooked right out of a stone oven. The crust was thin, crispy and just the Italian touch needed to get my trip rolling. When you order your dishes you are waited by a great line up of servers. The jump right to putting through your order and have no problem getting to know you. They give you a swipe card where your order is put right into the card. When you're done you get up and go to the cashier with the card where they'll swipe it to track your order. You'll then pay your bill. The service was great. Italians are known to be very outgoing and loud so don't mind the loud atmosphere. The look of the restaurant does give a great Italian island feel. The wall textiles follow this theme and give a refreshing look. Overall, the restaurant was great but since this was my first Italian stop I can only give this restaurant a 3 out of 5 stars since the rest of my trip has proven to have better and more traditional restaurants. Excellent pizza in a convenient spot near the center of Milano! Stopped by here on a whim for lunch while with my husband in Milan. We originally had our hearts set on seafood...but after passing by the sights and aromas of freshly baked pizzas coming out of a wood-fired oven, had to make a change of plans. We ordered the margarita pizza and (to compromise) an octopus appetizer. The pizza was amazing. Perfectly thin, tender Neapolitan style dough with that extra savory flavor that can only come from properly baking it in a traditional wood-fired oven, topped with a bright, refreshing tomato sauce that you can tell was made from sweet, ripe tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella (once you try real mozzarella cheese made from buffalo milk you'll never be able to go back to the flavorless, rubbery "regular" mozzarella again), a few basil leaves and a drizzle of extra virgin. Italian cooking at its finest... just a few ingredients, but each treated respectfully and combined with care to maximize and appreciate each ingredient's beauty and flavor. In comparison to such a perfect pizza...the octopus was only so-so. I may be a little spoiled from Spain and Portugal, but so far I haven't had a good polpo in Italy...and Farinella wasn't able to rise to the occasion either. Perhaps tender by American standards, but very chewy and flavorless by comparison to what you can get in the Iberian peninsula. Overall 5 star pizza, service, and location; 2.5 star polpo (octopus), but I guess they do warn you by saying they are a pizzeria in front of the restaurant. A good place to go to but take their hint and my advice and stick with what they do best...and save the seafood/8-legged cravings for another meal. read more
