His family is originally from Egypt, and he brought such genuine warmth and joy to taking care of us. That kind of hospitality can't be faked. The owner spoke no English at all and all the conversations that took place was through one of the local Italian customers. There is no menu at the restaurant. It is always a tasting menu and consists of no red meat. We started off with grilled octopus with pomegranate, then a squid salad. Later on the owner brought out some warm bread, burrata, mussels, clams with spaghetti, branzino, and some dessert. The meal also come with unlimited bottles of wine and ended the meal with a very very strong shot of espresso. Honestly, the food wasn't even the best part of the night (and that's saying a lot because every dish was delicious). The best part was just the interaction with the owner and his customers. Everyone was laughing with him, hugging him, he treated everyone like family. At one point he even started offering people cigarettes and started turning up the music so people could dance.
