If you are looking for cheap eats, this is not it. If you want to eat fine food, and don't have the time/effort to reserve a Michellin place and adjust your travel schedule around it, then this is your opportunity. The service was excellent. It's in the Galleria where you can people watch. The bread, the superb olive oil were good starter to the meal. Their famous appetizer was superb with multiple levels of flavors. The spegetto was excellent, well balanced. The steak was small portion but superb quality over quantity. The vegetarian main was small, but mutiple levels of taste. The desserts were excellent besides being pretty. Overall, it was a little more pricy than your standard Italian places, but probably not more than a fancy non-michellin place in the U.S. I'd go there again when I get a chance. The service was impeccable, very nice staff. However, would have been nice to know that I couldn't cancel a reservation without still having to pay €200 before scheduling. The fact that I was able to schedule a reservation 36 hours in advance shows that this rule is not necessary. Food was weird, if I had a jokingly large amount of money I would not care. But for a $325 meal, my taste buds should be on the moon. I would not recommend this place. The staff is the only reason for 2-star review. The menu is misleading, you must order two items off the menu per person which guarantees at least €125 per person. Wonderful experience on my wife's birthday! On a very busy evening in the Duomo due to a concert, they graciously seated us within 10 minutes. Although we had some communication issues with the hostess, she was very attentive and wanting to get everything right. The good/great...the antipasto dish with the egg and fish was outstanding, and the filet mignon also perfect. The misses were the margharita pizza (big doughy on a weird wheat crust), and the lamb dish. Cracco is anything but a generous restaurant - proceed with caution. We tried calling / reaching them multiple times to cancel and move a reservation. This is despite them not being open most hours to make amendments When we got ahold of them finally 24 hours ahead of a reservation, they still charged us 500 euro for cancelling. The manager was anything but understanding and extremely standoffish in our requests. We feel ripped off by their service and caution you against spending money at this establishment if you are not 100% certain in your schedule. They were rude on the phone to boot! read more

Chef Cracco's cuisine is lovely, and we were served everything decadent from lobster, to snails, filet mignon and frites, then, rather crazily as a main dish to follow the beef, a huge slice of seared foie gras as our main course! At that point, we could not even dream of enjoying the Italian cheese course, and skipped right to the dessert so we could take a spoonful, and look at the rest of it... At that point, I thought I needed to be carried out of the establishment, as we were served way too much food. We went here on the last day of our honeymoon. I wanted to treat my wife to something special, a two star michelin restaurant. WTF Meal started out with stale tasting tempura. My wife and I played games on guessing how many days old these were. Tempura should be crispy and light, it shouldn't feel like a sponge in my your mouth. Small sandwiches that were also served were bland and forgettable. Next, risotto with white truffle. Risotto had a bitter taste and ruined the subtlety of the white truffle. Pretty much washed it down with our wine since we didn't want to leave the 85 Euro risotto unfinished. What a waste of white truffle. Now here is where it gets even better. Waited 25 mins for our veal fillet and then went to the bathroom to wash my hands. Waited some more and finally asked our waiter where is our next course. The waiter said it's almost done. After another 15 minutes, I asked to cancel the fillet. I see the waiter converse with the manager and finally food comes out. By this time, we finished our bottle and got tired of waiting around so we pressed to cancel the food. The waiter and manager both argued with me that the reason why it took so long was because they had to remake the food when I went to the restroom. I asked how long it takes to make it and they said exactly 12 minutes. Hmmm something definitely doesn't add up. The table next to us RECEIVED their second course AFTER we finished ours (the same food too) AND got their filets before I even went to the bathroom. What infuriates me the most is that they kept arguing why I don't what the filet. I literally was on the middle of the restaurant arguing for 10 minutes before they finally brought the check. Don't lie and argue with me justifying your actions. People make mistakes which I can overlook but don't think I'm dumb or at least come up with a better excuse that makes sense. Service nor the food is not indicative of the fame or price tag. To make matters even worse, they misplaced my wife's coat and my umbrella so they told me to go into the closet to search myself. I should have just taken the most expensive one and let them deal with it. In all, 2 star michelin restaurant BS! This restaurant seriously makes me doubt trusting any of the michelin ratings. We were on vacation and went to two Michelin star restaurants in Monaco and Cannes so we thought we would try another in Milan. What a mistake that was. We had a 7:30 reservation, there were no other patrons in the place. And they finally sat us at 7:45. We were never asked if we wanted a drink. We were seated, handed menus, and the waiter/Somalia asked with his pen and paper, "what do you want to eat?" We said, can we order a drink first? Then another couple walks in with their 20 lb wet pug, and he shook himself in the middle of the restaurant from the rain that was on him. The whole restaurant smelled of wet fur. The first course were little sandwiches which had no flavor. Then came a cold quail egg, the egg spaghetti was also served cold. The risotto had a bitter taste and was undercooked. No reason to write about the remaining courses since it went downhill from there. The check could not come fast enough. If you are looking for Italian, this place represents nothing Italian. Even the figs on the fish were proudly announced that they were from India. When asked for salt and pepper the unmatched shakers were put on the table and pepper was spilling out the bottom. The restaurant was good. The food was creative. The wait staff was fair. Managed poorly from a customer experience perspective - be careful if you use the washroom. The door locks but DOES NOT unlock from the inside. After a lot of thought and effort to free myself I had to bang on the door to be freed. The staff member who let me out admitted this happens from time to time. No apology. No nothing. It was pretty embarrassing and ruined the experience for me. Cracco is supposed to be the top restaurant in Milan, SO OVER-RATED! The food itself is just ok and unmemorable. For the amount you pay, you should expect top service but I was quite disappointed. We were in a group of 5. The 2 guys in our group wanted to do the tasting menu while the girls wanted to order a la carte. It was very inconsistent because one waitress said we could do it then the other waiter said we couldn't. We kept going back and forth. They even got into an argument in front of us which was just awkward. In the end we all got the tasting menu because we didn't want anymore issues. My fav was the uni risotto which I switched out for the regular one. We did the first tasting menu, it was way too much food! Left us stuffed with a huge dent in our pockets. Super-fance restaurant that serves course after course. We accidentally showed up in our ripped jeans t-shirts, but the bow-tied waiters still treated us with utmost respect. They served us 3-4 dishes from the chef before our appetizers even came out. They probably change their menu seasonally, but the fusilli with clams and lemon puree was divine. To top it off, they invited us to tour the kitchen at the end. They probably do that with all guests, but it was a nice end to the evening. read more

I wanted to love this place, but sadly, I didn't. The food was terribly bland. We ordered the tasting menu and by course 5, I just wanted it to be over. Usually when you go to a place like this, you are amazed by the creativity and how flavors you wouldn't think to put together work beautifully, but in this instance, it just wasn't the case. I could tell that the restaurant service really really tried to maintain a pleasant atmosphere; however, the restaurant is extremely sub par....definitely not worth its label as one of the top 50 best restaurant in the world. My mother and I opted for the tasting menu and ate through 13 courses of very creative dishes. While the waiters moved smoothly (and were cute haha), about 10 of the 13 courses was bleh and I felt like it was either fusion gone wrong or photo opp trumps food taste. For instance, we started with dried vegetables with no salt and this finger food style candied rice cake with some creamy stuff inside. The dried vegetables with no salt sounds as bland as it tasted...I really don't understand why they served it? Like why? If anyone knows feel free to message me. The candied rice cake was disgusting. While they called it finger food, once I touched it, it collapsed and the creamy liquid of carrots and corn was all over my fingers....and yes creamy carrots and corn taste just was average or worse as it sounds. Other disappointing dishes included an hard boiled egg on vegetable puree with again dried vegetables on top. This was a prime example of a dish that was a great photo opp but really lacked in qualities such as Tetsuya, where the taste of the dish was at least above average. However, even with that said the winners of the dinner was a bone marrow dish with peas (sooooo good), the dessert (how wrong can you go really?...except they again tried to add dehydrated fruit that had zero taste and was probably more for the aesthetic) and a creme brûlée salty dish. For $400, I felt like my mother and I got a very intimate setting with pleasant service but mediocre food. However, I definitely got my $400 worth of photos as the presentation was nice...so if that's what you are hoping for go ahead!!! Most memorable were cubes of raw beef from a Piedmont region farm where the cows were only fed nuts for their last 3 months of life or something. Also good were veal heart, shrimp with pistachio sauce, lamb liver, chili chocolate macaroon. Risotto was ok, had an interesting combination of varied ingredients. Bite sized miniature sandwiches as 1st dish were ehh. Did not care for the 2nd dish of Russian potato salad sandwiched between 2 sugar plates. Ossobucco was a big slab of fattiness, was not served with the bone or other meat, sort of overwhelmingly rich. My wife and I were visiting Italy. Our last night there, we wanted a special dinner. This place looked amazing on paper. Michelin stars, beautiful decor, famous chef....what could go wrong? I have been to some great restaurants around Europe and America and I appreciate expertly prepared food. I've done high dollar tasting menus. This was the single greatest disappointment I've ever had in a restaurant. I spent over $500 for a meal that went on for 3 hours. I went from being very excited to quickly feeling like a prisoner. Each course they brought was more disgusting that the last. This chef seems obsessed with serving everything cold and/or raw. All of the seafood I got was really fishy, except for the sea urchin, which was actually really good. I got a bowl of something with an egg that was essentially raw. I got almost raw pigeon breast that was stone cold. It had a thick white sauce that made it worse. There were like 13 courses. I only liked a couple things. It's my opinion that Cracco's food is just not accessible. He's trying to be too fancy and severely misses the mark. The servers could tell I wasn't having a good time because I only actually finished one or two courses. The service was excellent. I'll give them credit for that. They didn't ask me if I enjoyed it, however. I felt sick as I was paying the tab for this little adventure. On the way out, I said to my wife, "That just happened!". Very nice and professional wait staff. Food, eh. Not our type of restaurant. We went based on reviews in NYT and other travel magazines. First the atmosphere is too quiet. No light music? Silence. Bright lights. Not warm and comforting. So atmosphere was a 2 of 10. Food: The amuse bouche they brought us were not very good. Extremely fishy. Oyster was warm, not by an oven but from sitting around. That nearly made me sick. I am unsure if Europeans eat warm oysters, but we enjoy them chilled for freshness! The highly recommended beef cheeks, 95% fat, 3% skin and 2% meat were so unappetizing we literally lost a diner. After having three courses she said were "disgusting", she left! I am sure discerning palates would love these delicacies but we were not prepared and really did not enjoy most of our meal. On a high note, the scampi with eggplant was delicious! Another positive is a beautiful wine list. I would not recommend this place unless you love unusual delicacies. I love Guy Savoy in Paris, so it's more the items offered I struggle with here.
