Northern Virginia, especially along the Rt. 15 corridor and west has an abundance of farmers markets. Farmer John on Rt 15 just north of Leesburg is truly a gem. Easy access, terrific produce, eggs, cheese, honey etc. Vegetables so beautiful they look like props. Quality and price to match. Love this place. read more

If you are looking for their fields look on both sides of the road before you get there going north. They do buy some things from other farmers when they do not have enough to meet the demand. They have always had the best produce at reasonable prices for over thirty years. My suggestion is if you do not like their prices try one of the other vegetable stands on the same road. The rest will be higher and the produce bought from other places. All of it At Farmer John's they grow most of what they sell. read more

I finally made a stop to check out this roadside farmers market after seeing a patient outside of leesburg. There were plenty of veggies but freshness seemed like most were leftovers from the weekend market. I settled on a few pounds of heirloom tomatoes and okras. Not convinced this is anything more than a money making scheme- prices were ridiculous, didn't see any gardens or trees to harvest fresh produce from. Items were labeled DOLE like if they were brought from a regular grocery store- waste of time and money. read more

This is a delightful, extensive, roadside farm stand with adequate space for parking and safe exit from the parking lot back to the two-lane road (Route 15). The old house is a quite picturesque backdrop for the tables full of field produce. It's always fun to purchase something locally grown while you are out driving in farm country. I picked out a lovely rotund pumpkin. I also tasted their ciders which were glinting colorfully against the backlighting provided by the sun. read more

WOW! If you know anything about me, than you know how much I enjoy anything organic and fresh, and this place stopped me in my tracks, literally. My family and I were on our way to weekend get away, when we saw this little market on the side of the road, what caught my attention were all the popping bright colors of the fruits and veggies. Before I get started on what I purchased, just so you know this Farmer John also supplies 4 WEGMANS grocery stores; how impressive is that?! They had such a great selection of fruits and veggies; we ended up getting rasberries, peaches, apples, bipolar corn, zucchini, eggplants, tomatoes. Along with fruits and veggies, they also carried other specialty items, such as honey, salsas, juices. So on top of the fruits and veggies we also purchased a peach salsa (which was so delicious) as well as a cranberry orange marmalade. I made eggplant parmesiana, zucchini tomatoe casserole and boy was it yummy! If you're into healthy eating, then you should definately stop by this place! We went to out to Leesburg today to see and try Farmer Johns Market. It was really great! We purchased several vegetables & cherries that were grown right there, and a few veggies they outsource when theirs are not quite ready. Surprisingly, the total for everything was super reasonable! Additionally, I love that this farm is their family's livelihood. I feel good supporting that type of business and its a reminder of real life and hard work by the farmers (without smart phones and chaos). I appreciated that my children could see some of that today! The whole experience was excellent. I can't wait until the tomatoes they are growing will be ready. read more

The most amazing place ever!!! I lived on the west coast for most of my life and when we moved to va when I was 14 this was one of the first stop. It's one of my favorite memories of all time and it was the best first impression of this area. MAGICAL! So many tables overflowing with the most beautiful fruits and veggies, the nicest people and such a beautiful set up with the farm house and the trees. Have stopped here a few times this year on our ride home from a business trip to Northern Virginia. Much Pleasant way to get back to New Jersey avoiding the Interstate 95 Corridor which is a horror. This Open Air Market is super! Perhaps the finest Tomatoes I have purchased all year and we live in the middle of tomato country. The apples are terrific and they grow at least 20 varieties. The eggplant are terrific. Back in July they may have been the best peaches we have purchased all year. I will be back looking forward to next year's growing season read more

Never had a bad piece of produce from here since I started going about five years ago. Everything is always so awesome, and the prices are equivalent to -- or sometimes cheaper than -- the supermarkets in the area. They do take credit cards now also. read more

We love this stand! They have the best corn on the cob in a 100 mile radius! They also have a great selections of cannery goods! Entering the parking lot be a little scary but once you get in there, they have plenty of parking. You'll end up buying more than you planned so you might as well grab one if the wagons. read more

We visited several farm stands on route 15 and were happy before coming upon Farmer Johns. We are now officially ruined and farmer's markets and competing stands pale in comparison. There are ample fruit and vegetable options which all look fresh and delicious. How many times have you been to a grocery store and felt the need to pick through bruised, overly ripe or already ruined fruit to find one or two pieces worthy of purchase? Well here all the fruit and vegetables are the gems. Great variety, friendly staff and competitive prices. Not much else my family needs. Except maybe pie. Did I mention that they have amazing pies? We've frequented many local pie places and the best we have found were at Farmer Johns. Do not leave without a pie. read more
