We have been helping my neighbor who had his van stolen and the process has been ridiculous! Our 80 year old neighbor has dementia and especially around the holidays as he is lonely with no family we were trying to help him find his can or get a new one. He is difficult to work with because of his disease but have some extra patience! So my husband and I were trying to help our neighbor. We got ahold of the office and they called to go in and fill out a form. Okay! We say---it's stormy stormy weather so my husband drives our neighbor down---and uh oh!! The woman didn't tell us we needed to bring the form ourselves. So they sent us home-we went and rummaged through this old mans house, found the form, and went in and filled it out with the agent again. They said everything was good and we went home, excited our neighbor would have his vehicle back soon. I got a phone call Tuesday before Christmas telling me they didn't fill out the form all the way and wanted to send the form to my house instead of the neighbors. I called the day after Christmas and talked to a new guy instead of the normal gal we were working with. This guy, Juan was not helpful. He reminded me it was frustrating to work with our neighbor and was complaining about having to serve him--I reminded Juan to give him a break Bc he has dementia and that's why he calls confused. I also asked him why we needed to go visit the office a third time for the same form. He just said it wasn't filled out properly. Funny enough--if it wasn't filled out properly, why was it sent the first time? I asked that exact question to Juan who then with attitude told me to call claims myself if I wanted to know the answer. I asked him if that was his job to do--and he said yes it was, but he was going to give me the option instead to call. So I asked him if he could call and let me know what they said. Again he said I could call if I wanted to know the answer. I asked him why I would call when it was his job--and he said "well sometimes they don't work on Fridays." What a joke! Thankfully claims called and we don't have to deal with this office for awhile. Although Chris was so very helpful--you have to deal with customer service people who don't want to go above and beyond to help you! Yay on Chris Nay on Juan! 48/100

Since leaving the corporate world to run our own business a couple of decades ago, we've had to…read morenavigate the murky waters of health insurance ourselves, and it's been a constant worry, not helped by confusing websites and questionable advice from various brokers. So, our expectations were low when we came across Goodacre's website at Calhealth.net; but as we watched Dennis Jarvis' excellent and up to date video on the Covered CA options for 2025, it was if the clouds had cleared and a ray of sunlight beamed down. We also watched an equally up to date and informative video on Medicare options, as that decision is coming up soon for one of us. I sent an email and was happily surprised to get a response from Dennis within a couple of hours with answers to all my questions and suggesting we set up a telephone meeting to talk the options through. We did, and in perhaps 20 minutes he cut through all the health insurance noise, helping us to choose the best plan and provider for us; and then guided us through the Covered CA application process on their platform in a fraction of the time and much less stress than it would have taken us to do it at coveredca.com ourselves. Long story short, we are now signed up for a plan that has better benefits and costs significantly less than our previous one; and we have a strategy outlined for the next move into Medicare. And, for the first time ever, I feel we have someone we can trust for good advice - and recommend to others.
