Patrick showed me all of the options and even helped me plan insurance ideas for my future with whole life insurance (turns out you can get insurance plans that pay you! - who knew!?) When I say he went above the call of duty I mean this: when looking at my bank statements he noticed I had excessive service fees and helped me to get rid of them! Amazing! While we were meeting about insurance he took another call from a former client and helped her with something completely unrelated. Does Patrick make money helping people out like this? Nope. You can tell that he does it because he sincerely cares about his clients and their well being. On his computer and phone he has images of all the various charities he has volunteered for over the years. To put salt on the wound, my favorite agent, Joni Gruss, is no longer with Allstate, it seems. I was first told last August she was on medical leave and was worried for her, but after calling again recently, it sounds like she's left. While I wish her all the best, nobody is as good as Joni was and I'm disappointed about being routed all over the place when I call (Stockton, Discovery Bay, and wherever else the calls land). Allstate has been good to me and my family over the years but, sadly, I'm going to have to shop around for a new insurance carrier with more reasonable rates for the coverage I want (if that's even possible in California anymore).

When the AAA adjuster arrived, he used a moisture meter and claimed there was "no moisture in the walls," suggesting we could simply redo the garage and upstairs, paint the downstairs, and settle the claim in a week. I knew this was completely inadequate -- the fire department had sprayed over 10,000 gallons of water into the attic, and the house was not safe to re-rent. I left the meeting feeling defeated. Shortly after, Jonathan from Apex Adjusting reached out. He explained that he was a public adjuster who would fight for a fair settlement on my behalf. After meeting him and doing my research, I was confident in moving forward with Apex. What stood out most was that Apex brought their own team of professionals -- including structural engineers, estimating companies, and soft demo crews -- to thoroughly document the full extent of the damage. This was a huge relief, as AAA had quickly assembled their own team to minimize the claim. Apex's experts calmly and accurately assessed the true scope and cost to rebuild.
