I enrolled in a course through Tax Liberty on South Ventura Road and completed it, including the California state portion. However, I was later told it wasn't submitted--despite having done all the work. After finishing in December, I followed up in January and spoke with Yvonne Ramirez on January 23rd. She acknowledged that the state portion hadn't been submitted and asked if I wanted her to do it. She quickly logged into my account and noted it showed 75%, which was confusing since I had completed everything. I trusted that Yvonne submitted everything properly, but it turns out it still wasn't reported to CTEC. This issue continued unresolved for months, and I've had to constantly go back and forth with them. To make matters worse, I lost access to my account. I never used my email to log in, only a username with a shared password used by multiple students, and I couldn't reset it because it wasn't linked to any email. Eventually, someone from Tax Liberty reached out and created or linked an account using my email to help me reset my password. Once I logged in, all my coursework--federal, state, everything--had been wiped clean as if I never took the course. How can I be expected to resubmit or complete something when access was taken away and then reset with all progress erased? This whole process has been extremely disappointing. I paid for the course, completed it, and did my part. I expected professionalism and proper follow-through, but instead, I was met with miscommunication, technical errors, and a lack of accountability. This experience felt even more personal when I realized the dynamics involved--connections and friendships that may have played a role in the way I was treated. I say this not to attack anyone but to point out that professionalism should always rise above personal feelings or associations. In hindsight, I should have gone with a more reputable company like H&R Block, where I've had positive experiences in the past. Unfortunately, I was referred to this program through someone I worked with, who also had questionable professionalism. All that said, I leave this review not with bitterness, but with the hope that it will help someone else avoid the stress I went through. I trust that God brings everything into the light and that justice will be done in His timing. Be cautious, ask questions, and document everything when dealing with programs like this.

Everything that I write here is first-hand observation from me only. I would have given NEGATIVE STAR rating if Yelp allowed me to. Read on... I moved my investments to this firm (Peter A. Hockenmaier) after having a bad experience with my previous financial advisor at another firm. For the first year+, everything seemed fine. I was making a good return on my investments so there were no questions or issues. Around the time of my annual review meeting, some issues with this office started to become more than I could stand. Allow me to provide some additional background information. My wife worked at this firm and one of the staff members created (by ANY definition), a hostile work environment. This situation was made worse by the fact that management did NOTHING to stop or resolve the issue. During the annual review that I just mentioned, I brought this fact up to management and what I received was an acknowledgement of the issue and nothing else. No resolution plan. No remediation. NOTHING. Shortly after this review, I pulled my investments from this firm and brought them to another firm where I have been since. Another complication was the observed when my in-laws also removed their investments from this firm for similar reasons. While most everything was transferred in kind, one set of accounts needed to reman with Ameriprise. This is when the true colors of the local management came out in technicolor ! After my in-laws transferred the majority of their investments, all communication ceased. No statements were provided / received and there were no meetings to discuss the state of the remaining investments. NOTHING! (If I'm not mistaken, this is a breach of not only company policy but federal law as well.) While the owner of this establishment claims to be an upstanding citizen, I would not trust him as far as I could throw him! When family members contacted the parent firm to seek copies of statements and gain an understanding of the current status of the remaining investments, we were met with indifference and a general attitude of providing as little assistance as possible. You see, it seems that at some point the local management in Camarillo transferred these accounts to some other advisor...again, no prior awareness or knowledge. No advance notice and no ability to check on the status of these investments. Also, no requests were made to conduct an annual review of these accounts. NOTHING. I guess the adage, the apple does not fall far from the tree is accurate! So, in conclusion, if you're looking for a less-than honest person to manage your investments, use this firm. If you have investments with this firm, well, I'll defer to your own good judgement on staying or leaving.
