On our last day in Minneapolis I happen to notice that we'd be able to attend this Sunday event. Farmers Markets in California all range in size so I didn't really know what to expect for this one - holy cow! It was huge and lots of different local things. They had Minnesota grown produce, handmade products, fresh flowers, baked good and so much more. I was introduced to Ty's Gingseng (https://www.tysginseng.com/) who grows and sells 6 year old ginseng powder - which is very high quality. I also bought relish from Red Ron's as well as some sausage links from another vendor. To be honest I probably could have spent at least 1.5 hours here if I wanted to really study all the booths and check everything out, but we had brunch plans and needed to depart within 45 mins. Being a MN native, I haven't been back to the farmers market in awhile and I must change that!…read more I recently went the other weekend and it was such a great way to start my weekend morning with clothes, food, flowers, produce and the list goes on! Being able to support the community and get such staple items made my heart full. It probably wasn't the wisest choice getting hot soup on a hot day but it was so delicious. There was live music, went into the walk in cooler to take a break from the sun and went back to it. Every vendor was very nice and welcoming, got some treats for my dogs, a freshly made slush coffee, and some hot dogs to end the walk around. I can't wait to come back to grab more fruits and veggies and flowers!

Minnetonka and St. Louis Park are the closest to me. The flowers are healthy and beautiful! They have unique basket arrangements. They have fresh produce too! Tomatoes, strawberries and corn are so fresh and delicious! The employees are cheerful, knowledgeable, and helpful. It's not cheap but I can assure you it is quality! They take credit cards too.

Although it's small, everything available was beautiful and fresh, and it had all the right stuff for me. Parking is very, very close, and there's lots of it.

To avoid confusion -- this is the Anoka County Grower's Association market that's been around for well over 30 years, not the new indoor market at the Town Square. Today was the first day so there were only 4 vendors and no fruits or veggies yet. There was a baker, a large greenhouse selling various potted plants, a dog treat person, and the president of the association himself...selling organic creams, salves, insect repellents, deodorants, balms, etc. No produce yet. I bought some classic peanut butter treats for my big doggy. And I purchased some homemade strawberry jam for my kid. I also had some great conversations with the vendors. It was a chilly Spring Saturday when I visited, so not as crowded as I'd anticipate it would normally be on a Saturday around 11:45am. This is a laid back atmosphere with plenty of local vendors. I noticed baked goods, honey, vegetables, food vendors, and more. Pretty good variety. I also noticed that the list of vendors change as well. Although it was quite chilly (I should have brought my light winter jacket), it was nice to stroll the farmers market as it's one of my favorite things to do this time of year. I did notice on the sign while walking into the market dogs are not allowed, hours are 9am-1pm on Saturdays, and it's held rain or shine. Bonus, free street parking! I'm thinking I'll likely be back sometime later this summer.

Bouquets of flowers that are different each week, in-season fruits and vegetables, including uncommon options like Japanese eggplant and kohlrabi, small batch honey and maple syrup, jams and jerky, mushrooms, and tons of baked goods. There are also artists selling fishing lures, soaps, natural bug spray, woodworking, candles, jewelry and more. I love going in the morning and picking up breakfast there. For example, the vegan berry smoothie from Great Northern Microgreens I initially tried with some trepidation, but is now something I come back for (and I'm not the only one, because sometimes there is que of people waiting for smoothies). A croissant or quiche or muffin from one of the many bakeries is always a good option (and then I inevitably pick up dessert for later. A favorite treat of mine are the chocolate chip shortbread from Great Harvest Bread Co). Mogi Bagel has a huge following, and they are often sold out of most flavors by halfway through (see photo with a single bundle left at 11 am), so either pre-order your bagels for pick up, or get there early. The bagels are small, light and soft. They are easily compressible rather than being dense. The Cacio e Pepe flavor is pictured, and it was yummy lightly toasted with butter. Very flavorful. Speaking of yummy- Yummytizers has many great dips, but my favorite item are their veggie chips (not pictured because they had okra this week instead, but I was reassured the chips would be back next week). Delicious, colorful, and low-guilt! Most vendors give samples, so you can walk around the market trying bites and sips, then go back to get your favorites. There are also many vendors selling hot food, from spring rolls to pakora, to empanadas and breakfast sandwiches. No matter when you arrive, there will be something delicious to eat. Pro tip: There is a master gardener station, where you can ask for help identifying that random maybe-bush-maybe-tree growing in your yard, so take a photo beforehand. There are dining tables and chairs under a tent, so there is cover from rain and sun, as needed. And there is usually an activity that is kid-friendly (like a coloring station). There are no dogs allowed at this market, so leave your pets at home. Parking is possible either on the main street or on side streets and isn't that hard to find, as people are constantly coming and going. A great local event to check out when you have friends or family visiting!

So we walked around the food court area, most of the stalls were closed. I appreciated the variety of eateries available. We spent time browsing the mini grocery area, where they sell various interesting items such as honey comb and Turkish delight. My friend bought dried chamomile flowers in bulk to make tea. It was only a quarter the price of buying chamomile tea bags! In the building were some interesting art sculptures. I really like mixed use spaces like this.

I love Midtown Global Market with all of my heart. I went…read morelast Friday for the first time in a while and have already been back 2 times already since then (it's now Monday). Midtown Global Market has been such a staple in my life. It does such a good job of having food options from so many cultures and parts of the world. The food is reasonably priced and the workers are all so kind and knowledgable. Beyond just food, there is a huge selection of art, groceries, clothing, and more. MGM has always felt like the ideal of what Minneapolis is and can be. I am sad to see a lot of booths closed right now. My heart aches for my neighbors and community. I hope (and know) that MGM can bounce back and continue to be a place of diverse community. Love MGM always.
