Their operation is always very organized and the owners are so friendly. Their farm store is really nice as well because they bring in great stuff from other local farms and local makers so it's nice to get so much in one trip. Just last week, we got frozen berries, beef from a local farm, root veggies and popcorn from their neighboring farm, Little Hill syrups, and locally made tea blends. Way better than going to the grocery store! Thank you Little Hill, keep up the great work!

Made my first trip to Sweetland Orchard with a few friends this past weekend and we had such a…read moregreat time! It was a very unique orchard experience. We had ordered a tasting kit which had a large variety of food and drinks to try! We had the Cider Tasting Kit with additional add ons, such as the, Apple Tasting Kit, Heirloom Apple Tasting Kit, Odenthal's Jalapeno and Cheddar Beef Sticks, Shepherd's Way Friesago Cheese, Sweetland Orchard Cider Donuts, Sweatband Orchard Farm Bread Picnic Loaf, and the Vikings and Goddesses Apple Carmel Hand Pie's. Kits are available if you place your order at lease 12 hours in advance. If you do not order a kit, there are items available for purchase as well. You are free to roam to roam the orchard and enjoy all there is to offer. The setting was just the perfect spot for fall, with colored trees around and rolling hills. We brought our kit our to the orchard and had a picnic. We brought a quilt to sit on (there are some picnic tables available, but it is probably wise to bring a quilt to lay down to sit on just in case there are no tables available). Everything was incredibly delicious and I am planning to get back there again soon! It is dog friendly! I love when places allow dogs, it is but probably best to bring your dog only if it will not disrupt other guests or the animals that are on site (chickens, pigs, etc.).

I'm also familiar with Nelson's, my sister used to work there when she was in high school (some time ago). To get a tree - they have both cut your own and precut (on the side of the building) , they also deliver within 30 miles their website says. To cut your own - 1. Go to the main building, get a map, a saw (if you don't have your own), and twine. They will tell you where to go, as does the map. 2. Follow the map to your desired type of tree. 3. Cut away! 4. Kinda tie the tree to some part of your vehicle, and gingerly drive back to the building. 5. Pay, return the map and/or saw, and buy anything else that your heart desires. 6. Someone will help to securely tie your tree to your vehicle if you need it (yes, please!). 7. Drive away! The Nelson people are friendly and helpful - even helping get your vehicle unstuck when driving in the snow (happened to us last year).

After visiting another orchard in the area, we were craving some doughnuts which we were not able to get. We happened to notice a sign for Nelson Apple Farm and figured we would stop by and check them out as it was only a few minutes away. As we pulled in we noticed the apple trees, a little area where you can see some animals and a shop with their sign. There were a few people inside. As we walked through their shop we couldn't help but do some shopping. Homemade salsa's, jams and preserves, syrup, and all sorts of goodies. Oh and of course a nice table of apples. Some people had what looked like a tray of State Fair apple doughnuts. We were told that they were not doughnuts, they were apple dandy's. I don't know what an apple dandy is but we ordered some with our purchase. We also had to get a caramel apple as those are some of our favs. Within a few minutes our fresh fried apple dandy's came out. Oh my! This will ruin your craving for an apple doughnut. Light and crispy on the outside. The inside was airy, almost like a popover. But wait, there is a thin slice of apple inside. This adds some freshness and even more flavor. Cinnamon and sugar on top makes this such a tasty treat. We enjoyed these so much we made another trip south a few weeks later. This time we were there earlier and watched as they made the batter and cooked our apple dandy's. So divine! We did get some more apples and goodies but it's those apple dandy's that we were craving. Reading more about Nelson Apple Farm we love that they are family owned. They have been in business for almost 50 years and Veteran owned. Thank you for your service and thank you for those apple dandy's! We have found our new favorite orchard and will be back again soon. If nothing else, just to get more apple dandy's!

We have been going to Croix farm for years now, this place is part of our fall tradition…read more We prefer going to this place over other similar establishments in the area cause this place is just right, not too big and not too small. The staff is always super friendly. They never nickel and dime you like some other places in the area that even charge you with an admission price. We have never been disappointed with the variety of apples or an abundance of pumpkins to pick from. They have a corn maze for which you do have to buy a ticket but it's very reasonable ($5/pp) and you get to take a hayride to the corn maze. There's always a food truck there with fried goodies and of course apple cider. There is a store there also where you can buy pre-picked apples and other goodies. Tbh - I don't think that prices at this location for hot food, apples, pumpkins or the corn maze have changed at all since we've been coming here.

The slides they have looked fun for bigger kids. They had some picture opportunities which my family liked. I loved the hay area with pumpkins for photo ops. We mainly came for Rosie's Farm Yard and Petting Zoo. It was definitely smaller than expected / advertised. I believe it was $5 per person including parents if they wanted to join in/ had a hesitant toddler like myself! We only had about 2-3 minutes in the petting zoo before rotating out. They had a few bunnies, chickens, a pony, and donkey in a very small enclosure. Not sure if I would go again for the petting zoo but I promised my toddler we would go, and that's why I still went through with it when I saw how small the enclosure was and how little time they were going the kids to pet the animals. My favorite part was the food trucks. We had some incredible mini donuts and amazing popcorn! Some of the best I've had. I would definitely be back for the food trucks alone. Overall it was a nice local pumpkin farm if you don't want to drive too far from home.

The farm was busy but not overwhelming, and we were able to find several perfect pumpkins (and some smaller gourds) about a week before Halloween. The hay ride to the pumpkin picking patch was charming, but I also appreciated the pumpkin selection available near the entrance. There were also a few food trucks, with burgers, coffee, and some very intriguing teas. The overall ambience of the farm was beautiful and perfect for some weekend fall fun. When we arrived, which was the last day of their operation, we were told to go to a specific row to pick. The berries tasted good and there were enough of them. It is important to pick where they tell you to pick, as most rows have nothing left to pick. They know where one should pick and direct you. They aren't too big in size, not too sweet either. It is solid decent strawberry you will find here. 2. Location It is about 30 or so miles from twin cities, depending on your origin of travel point. It is quite straight forward drive and you can't miss it. Had no trouble finding the place. 3. Price It costs about $2.50-$3 and the box will cost you extra $0.50. So, you can bring your own basket. But I personally like what they have. 4. Bathroom They have 3 mobile toilets, so it is not a problem. You do want to bring your own hand sanitizer if possible. You will need it! It's a strawberry patch, has no building or a shop. So, if you need water, pack it, if you need food, pack it, also don't forget the hand sanitizer. Unlike some apple farms, it is not a business that has shop that carries stuff you need. You need to bring everything you may need. All in all, it is a good place to come to relax and just quietly pick strawberries yourself. It has no extra bells and whistles and services, it is straight up strawberry picking place as the name says.

Why 2 stars? Our…read morefamily recently visited Lorence's Berry Farm for strawberry picking and had mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the strawberries were abundant, vibrant, juicy, and very easy to pick. We had three generations together for a fun family outing, including my 4-month-old and 1-year-old granddaughters, and we were excited to spend time outdoors making memories. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by an interaction with an older gentleman who appears to have worked there for quite some time. After a two-hour drive, I briefly pulled over to speak with my daughters and figure out where we should park before unloading the children and heading to the fields. We were apparently stopped in an area where parking was not allowed, although there was no sign indicating that. Rather than approaching us politely, he immediately began yelling. I explained that we were simply trying to get a game plan together and that a softer approach would have been appreciated. Instead of de-escalating the situation, he continued to yell as I drove away to find a proper parking spot. What was most disappointing was that he then directed his yelling toward my daughters while they were standing with my granddaughters. The commotion upset my 1-year-old granddaughter to the point that she started crying, while my infant granddaughter and daughter looked on. Later, I shared my experience with another employee, who apologized for the earlier behavior. However, while we were in line paying, we witnessed the same gentleman confront another visitor who had parked in the area because she could not find handicap-accessible parking. He berated her, refused to provide his name when asked, and the interaction became so uncomfortable that she began recording the encounter on her phone. Ironically, a short while later, the very same gentleman approached me and apologized for his actions earlier. While I appreciated the gesture, he immediately followed it by explaining that "it's a stressful thing," which felt more like a justification for his behavior than a sincere acknowledgment of how his actions affected visitors. The strawberries were wonderful, and the farm itself has the potential to be a great family destination. The fruit quality and ease of picking made for an enjoyable outing, but customer service and the way guests are treated matter just as much as the product. Unfortunately, one employee's repeated behavior toward multiple customers significantly detracted from what otherwise could have been a very positive family experience.

Various crops or types come and go; just know it is all delicious, well worth drive. Now the asparagus is almost done. Come early as it sells out right away in the morning. Soon they told me the raspberry crop will be ready. End of July or so. Great Strawberry smell as soon as you drive in. Wonderful fresh strawberry smell in your car ride home. Easy drive out here. The staff are attentive and waiting for you. Enjoy!
